hi, i know this in't really this accounts thing so theres no pressure to answer, but i figured i'd give it a shot. how do i tell people i go by a different name?
i have several friends who have changed their names recently, so i'm sure they would accept me, but im always hung up on the what ifs and the fact that i basically go by something new every other week, or maybe them thinking i'm just hopping on the train of 'hey lol i have a new name' that's been happening in our friend group recently. i feel like it would become a burden for my friends even though several of them also go by more than one name.
it's not even like my name is weird compared to theirs, i have friends who go by nouns and words and names they yoinked from characters/content creators/whatever, but i can't help but be Completely Terrified and i'm just lookin for a little advice or something like that

i am not qualified in the slightest to answer this question (as i wimped out of ever telling the people i trust when i got indecisive about my own name) but i am more than happy to try and give you one.
in my experience, those people will accept your decision with no hangups, but i understand your fears. one option is to be direct with it; tell them your name with all the confidence you don't have if you're anything like me, and don't allow room for anyone to object. if they say anything contrary? 👂🚫
another option you have, if you change it up a few times, is to ask for their help with trying out names. they have experience with it, so you trust their advice and want another opinion. maybe you're not feeling (name a) anymore, but you're not sure if (name b) is the way you wanna go. your friend/s can address you with (name b) for a day, and then you can see where you sit with it.
and it's important to mention that you are never a burden to a True Friend. they will always want to help you be comfortable with yourself and be the most genuine version of you possible. i don't know you, but i know i absolutely want you to figure yourself out so you can be happy with who you are.
