@vepottery @jaredgreenceramics A new piece for my collection! This black mug was made by the one and only Eric Van Eimeren (@vepottery). And the second mug was made by Jared Green (@jaredgreenceramics). I've been collecting Eric's work for years. He was a big influence on the mugs I make in fact. I happened to be in his home town a few years ago, so I asked if I could come visit his studio. He was nice enough to have me over for dinner with his family and gave me a tour of his studio and freaking let me borrow a bicycle because I was walking everywhere. That's a level of generosity I hope to emulate. Jared was a fellow short term resident with me up in Red Lodge last year. He's an impressively dedicated young dude. I wish I was so focused when I was in my early twenties. This is still my favorite picture of my mama and me. This was back in 2015 at some summer celebration or other. Happy mother's day to all the moms and those in the role! When I was in highschool, my mom doodled a little star thing on a sheet while she was helping me with my homework. Well the next day in class, I was looking at it and thought it was neat, so I drew my own version. When I showed my friends, they all thought it was pretty cool. I drew more and more variations of that star over the semester because of that initial encouragement. Loooong story short, I consider that the genesis of my art career.
