I usually I don’t post illustrations for WIP stories in case I want them if published, but these interesting times are making me say ‘arts away’! Also not uninspired by current events... This OC is Mr Rust, the antagonist and love interest from my cyberpunk novel WIP, Sunshine Pest Control. I’m editing but this involves substantive rewriting and we have bub #2 due in June, plus, y’know (gestures at world) so if it’s not ready for alpha readers by June it might be a while after! He’s also “the Friend” in a short story I have currently on submission called Worms, their Carer, and his Friend, which is from the POV of the parasitic fungi hive mind 😁 👍 🐀 🍄 I’ve been spending more time on art while taking a break from writing. Finding I don’t have the headspace for writing atm (and usually I write most days) so it’s quite a change. Definitely still in adjustment/survival mode so I’m hoping to get back into the editing! Wild Arms was such a definitive part of my childhood, and was one of the first games I played on PS1 along with FF7. ❤️ I think I loved all the characters, heroes and villains, but Zeikfried, Zed and the metal demons were my favourites. The Luminous Dead stickers! Thanks @authorcstarling, they are gorgeous! Straight to the pool room (=getting pride of place if you haven’t watched The Castle. Here on the laptop alongside these cool @shaunaomeara art stickers.) I loved everything about this spooky book—The Luminous Dead has all my favourite things! The claustrophobia of the caves and the creeping, building dread. The tech and the way it interfaces with the body. Characters not being able to trust their own perceptions (yay!). SF cave biodiversity (luminous fungi!). And of course Gyre and Em and their fabulously twisted relationship—with its power-play, conflict and complexity—pitch perfect.
