I frequently have to smack my own wrist for putting too much physical & movement detail into my writing. Like, chill chaos, people generally know how human bodies work it's fine 😂 Usually I fix that up during the writing and editing process to take out unnecessary detail while leaving in the good stuff, but sometimes it probably still sneaks by and makes for some seriously clunky passages here and there.
...Also, yeah, not every period needs to be a semi-colon. Sometimes I need to remember that short(er) sentences read just fine 😶
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
No spaces between paragraphs, my brain simply cannot process it. A fic could have the best tags and summary ever, but if I run into a solid wall of text without paragraph formatting, I'm gone. With regret, to be sure, but still gone.

okay, but, hear me out. Does this mean a character I hate as a person but love as a well-done bastard of a character? Or a character I hate in fandom but enjoy them in the source material? Or simply an awful character who I think was terribly done and should just disappear from canon entirely? 🤣
Well, I'm going to choose the first one, and go with Commander Acastus Kolya.
He's unreasonably fixated on Sheppard (I mean, ditto). And we get to watch the fallout because it's a two-way obsession and I love it.
So, so bastard-hot. Yes. I could watch him be a fucking dick all day any day.
Dead. (Sorry Kolya, but you did have to lose. Though you admittedly did deserve a rather more exciting end than you got.)

oooh.... I'm gonna say... 9. I actually really like the editing part, because I feel like it's where I go from "hammered out concept" to "an actual story of some kind". I get to poke and fiddle and tease out the best way to say something, and find a pacing and rhythm and flow that feels good, and sometimes notice little themes that I didn't put in on purpose but once I spot them I can polish and play them up to better effect, and I love it!

My goodness. Everyone thinks I'm wise tonight, it seems...
Ooh okay here's one that I have to remind myself of a lot but it really is a good one. We should all stop diminishing our own accomplishments the fuckin' moment we accomplish them.
(For me, that's things like.. saying "thank you, I did work really hard on that!" instead of brushing it off as nothing, or enjoying going for more walks instead of immediately berating myself internally for all the times I didn't go for more walks. Stuff like that)
