I will never get tired of saying how much the charmies here on tumblr and the performative activists of X were saying that this film would flop or that it would be boycotted... The truth is that if people had the slightest intelligence, they would understand that of a movie star doesn't go away just because they don't like that movie star. What I have to say is that I (NEVER) feel sorry for those who were not prepared for the arrival of this sun in the cinema industry, because HE is here to stay.
All the colors of the rainbow, and some others too.
Well....I remember people here saying it was going to flop, or people on Twitter saying they were going to boycott, but one thing that maybe people forget is a super important detail: Timothee is a movie star. Cry all you want. People can (cannot) criticize all you (they) want, but it won't change the fact that the losers tried and failed to make Timothee's project fail. He is destined to be the greatest of his generation for a reason......I hope the haters learn this soon and stop the gratuitous crying.
And...congrats King! You deserve this and everything good on your career and life. I love you and i'm so fuck*** proud!
After only five weeks on the big screen, “Wonka” has generated $176.2 million domestically and $329.1 million internationally, bringing its global tally to $505.3 million. It’s the highest grossing film of the franchise ✨✨✨
i feel like we're not talking enough about how absolutely bonkers it is that over the span of the next three or so months, we'll see Timothee Chalamet as the star of both Wonka and Dune Part II
like, in one movie, he's a young man with a great and terrible destiny ahead of him, gaining the respect and admiration of an oppressed people to rise to a position of unimaginable religious power and authority, which he then uses to exert unilateral control over a psychoactive substance so powerful that society has no choice but to bow to his will as he steps into a messianic identity that reshapes the world in his name
I enjoyed it as a standalone film but especially enjoyed it as a prequel to the Gene Wilder Wonka. It retroactively made Wider’s Willy so much more tragic.
And that’s because Chalamet’s younger, earnest and kind Willy Wonka is CONSTANTLY having his kindness and compassion and belief in the good intentions of others thrown back at his face almost. Every. Single. Time.
What happens to him, in no particular order: People take advantage of him when he is at his lowest; they sabotage his chocolate; Hugh Grant steal his chocolate and beats him with a frying pan; he is nearly drowned by the chief of police; a boat he’s in is rigged to explode; they try to drown him AGAIN but now in melted chocolate under a church; he is tricked into debt and forced into indentured servitude; the chocolate mafia wants him dead; he has to crawl in the sewers just to sell his chocolate without the police beating the shit out of him at the chocolate mafia’s command, and a bunch of other moments either his earnest nature (or the fact he is illiterate, because by the way he is illiterate) is taken advantage of.
But he keeps believing in the good of others. He has friends, and a pseudo daughter that taught him how to read and his mother’s memory and so many dreams…
And then we arrive at Wilder Wonka. Who was betrayed one too many times. Who had his recipes stolen from him. Who shut himself from the world and trusts no one.
Who doesn’t care for these spoiled people walking around his factory, even if they were his last attempt at proving to himself that good people, good kids (Like Noodle) still exist.
Who is alone.
TL;DR: seeing a young Wonka who is so optimistic knowing how he is going to end up after being betrayed over and over and over again is a emotional experience that I was not quite ready for.
Well, another year has passed and the only thing I can say is that my love for you has only increased. Once again I had the privilege of seeing you much bigger than you already are. Even with all the tribulations that this horrible year has had and with all the people trying to cancel you, you once again showed what you were meant to be: a movie star. Seeing you increasingly becoming a strong name makes me sure that you came to carve your name in the history of cinema and it is an honor for me to be able to be a witness to your story. I love you, I admire you and I hope that you always have the wisdom to be involved in the best projects. You are only 28 years old and you seem much younger and the story you have been writing in the cinema is worthy of your greatness. You shine much brighter than the sun. I love you more than anything. Happy birthday my King.
I know that once again I'm repeating myself...but I'm lost, confused, speechless, unresponsive, I can't elaborate on anything. Why is this man like this? Why does he mess up my logical thinking?
“It’s sleek, it’s uniform in some way but at the same time scattershot. It’s wonderfully inspired by a variety of movements and feelings, the [same] way the film is.”

okay but respectfully. Why is he half naked promoting a kids movie tho?
i don’t know, but i don’t think these premieres are for the kids, yk? i feel like these are more for the media. it’s not kids keeping up with the film red carpets lol
i think he’s been wearing really appropriate things for the promotionals that kids might stumble across, if that makes any sense.
like these…
and tbh if i was a mom i don’t think those would be the outfits to scandalize me, i personally don’t see a problem with them.
they’re just sheer/no shirt with a blazer on top outfits, not half naked.
Imagine having a life so miserable that you create a Tumblr page just to wish the worst for others? But coming from a charmie, I don't expect the best thing. I find it funny that they criticized Monika Krasnorada for creating a page to criticize Armie Hammer, but certain people are so hypocritical that they not only do the same, but also think that a human being has to do everything they want and "apologize for did nothing wrong". And some of them are such a coward that blocked me, because they have no argument to debate why they continue to follow the content of an actor that they disagrees with so much. Perhaps this is much more than "fan behavior", it is actually obsession. Find a psychiatrist, your psycho.
* Imagine supporting a te**o*ism organization?! Genz are so weak. Disgusting.
* Imagine having the opportunity to follow an actor who you completely agree with and who is "perfect", but you choose to upset an actor who you disapprove of every step of him? the level of obsession......
