Egg visits Horsens Statsfængsel (Horsens State Prison), formerly called Horsens Straffeanstalt (Horsens Correctional Institution). Situated on a hill in Horsens it looks and feels like a castle. Today it is a museum, a hotel and also a concert venue where e.g. Metallica played in 2006.
The museum works with smells and narrative tours (”identity tour”) where you can choose a former prisoner or person who worked here to follow their stories. (The place is said to be quite spooky. Windows open and close regularly. Without visible reason. under the prison hospital that is the current hotel there used to be the chapel where prisoners who died lay several days. Nowadays there are lightning tours with children down there.
Did you know that there was a special area of the prison just reserved for members of the Hell’s Angels? At the last two pictures you can see their “living room” with its very special paintings on the walls.

Update: now it is online in full glory. https://vimeo.com/146644119
Foreground: Egg listening to Slavoj Žižek who has just sent his host Jürgen Kuttner away from stage to answer some (other) audience questions. Inspiring evening. Thoughts have to settle. Or, as Jürgen Kuttner explained before the evening started: “Afterwards you might think that you have tinnitus. But it is just because we speak faster than you can think. So when you are home, it won’t be tinnitus. It is just the 45 minutes of text still to come. Enjoy this!” We do.

Very nice place with very nice people with delicious homemade Honiglebkuchen and a lithuianian artist’s painting. Good choice in times like these when Berlin is grey and the world around is nothing but a constantly screaming producer of fear. Go and have your coffee outside and talk to people. Have conversations. About whatever. Do not stop talking, asking, discussing, meeting, celebrating, crying together.

Egg and me went from Copenhagen to Kaunas, from Kaunas to Klaipeda, and from Klaipeda to Nida. It almost feels like coming home after we have spent 2 months in summer here. And then, the big day, we participated in Nida Half Marathon as HUE UND EI. Egg really ran a complete lab (about 5 km), not with me, but a friend to it with him. Next time a have to think about something that could help me carry it on the back or something like that.
Running a half marathon is more intense than I thought. And it is not even a full marathon. It is much easier after the first lab when the field has cleared a little more, not everybody is running around you and you can find your own speed without feeling bad to be overtaken every 20 seconds. And then you can find the groove, and the runner’s high, and nothing hurts the next day. Fighting against yourself (not being competitive) can be hard, but it’s worth it.
Also, I learned a lot about good game design during this run and from the organization of the event. When to place the shorter distance runs (10km, 5km) in relation to the 21,09... km to make everybody feel comfortable (and not being the last one running when the audience has already left etc.) Had some nice conversations about personal motivations... and left Nida with the feeling, that I will be back. Quite soon.
