FicTober: Day 3
Prompt #3:"Okay, show me." Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating:  T Warnings: Mentions of death, war, manipulation
Characters: Isabella Hummel, Lovino Bellincioni, Alexander Morelli Ships: N/A
Alexander couldn’t believe his ears, this couldn’t be happening, how was she even able to do this?
“Okay Isabella, show me.”
His eyes widened as he turned to Lovino, did his best friend not hear the same thing he did?
“Lovi, you can’t be serious. She-”
Alexander flinched as Lovino glared at him, “If she has a way to bring back the dead, why shouldn’t I investigate it?”
He couldn’t believe his best friend, he had to know this was not a good idea, “Because it’s unstable, old, dark magic that even scared the Sweeney and Ayers Clan.”
Lovino’s glare hardened, “And?”
“And?! And they are the most powerful magic clans in Tebos! If they’ve sworn off raising the dead then it either can’t be done or the cost is too high.”
Isabella shrugged, walking away from them, “Or they don’t value life as much as us. We’d give anything to have our loved ones back, right Lovino? Nothing is too steep a price.”
To Alexander’s horror, Lovino nodded as he began to follow her retreating form, “They started this war, so why shouldn’t they pay the price to return those they slayed?”
Alexander couldn’t understand where he drew that conclusion, “What are you saying? You know it was your aunt and mother that started this war.”
“No, it was King Wyn. If the Sweeney clan wasn’t so high and mighty, the Epherial Kingdom wouldn’t have stepped out of line against us!”
Alexander glared at Isaeblla’s back, she was the one putting these ideas into his friend’s head. He wouldn’t be saying any of this if she hadn’t wormed her way into their ranks. She may have been born in Epherial, but she was born with the bloodthirsty spirit of the Avis Kingdom she called home.
“Look, Lovi, let's just talk to Alice. Hell, we can take your dragon over to the Grissirynn Island and talk to the Ayers trio! There’s no way you should just jump into this without asking them. I’m sure Isabella’s done her research, but their families made those spells.”
“Alex, I’ve made my decision. You’re either with me or against me.”
Alexander sighed, he couldn’t let him do this on his own, “Fine, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

FicTober: Day 9
Prompt #9: "I wouldn't do that if I were you." Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating: T Warnings: Implied abuse
Characters: Gilbert Lehmann, Alice Sweeney, Firmino Amello Ships: N/A
Gilbert eyed the new boy from across the room, he could tell that he didn’t want to be here. He knew the other kingdoms didn’t have the same tie to their royals as the Sweeney and Lehmann of Ephariel did, but he honestly didn’t understand it until he started following Alice to the other kingdoms on her trips to royal gatherings. He couldn’t believe that some of the other royal families treated their servant clans as expendable toys to be used, abused and tossed away. His fists clenched when he recalled the look on Alice’s face when the boy was ‘gifted’ to her in the cage that still sat in the room with him. The boy hadn’t said much outside of telling Alice and him to stay away from him, and honestly, it was getting on his nerves. He hated watching how upset Alice looked every time she tried to help the boy only to receive an insult thrown at her.
His eyes widened when he watched the boy try to swing at Alice, “Hey, I wouldn’t do that if I were you! She might be nice, but I’m not! You hurt her and I’ll break your arm!”
Gilbert kept his eyes on the boy but crossed his arms when Alice waved him off, “Gil, relax. He’s new and scared. I don’t know what they did to him in Atadell, but he’s entitled to not trust me and see me as a new enemy. If it’ll make him less scared to be able to take a swing, so be it.”
“I’m your guard, I’m not going to le-”
Alice rolled her eyes, walking by him, “Gilbert, I’m not asking. Now, I’m going to see what I can grab from the kitchen, keep him company.”
Before Alice slipped out the door, she quickly shot him a glare, “And be nice, or else we won’t have our weekly sleepover!”
A snort caught his attention as the boy finally glared at him, “What are you, her dog?”
Gilbert returned his glare, puffing out his chest, “No, I’m her best friend! And her personal guard! I’ll be head of the royal guard one day!”
He frowned as the boy rolled his eyes, “So you’re a glorified show pony until she gets bored of you.”
“Don’t talk about her like that! I don’t know what your problem is! She’s done nothing but be nice to you!”
Gilbert felt his anger rise when the boy waved him off, “She’s a royal, no different than any other. She’ll brand me and then I’ll be just another toy until I’m not useful anymore. You’re not special because you’re higher on the pecking order of servants here.”
“I choose to serve her! It’s the highest honour in my family to be the personal guard to the heirs of the Sweeney Clan! Even before they became the rulers of Ephariel!”
The boy scoffed again, “So you’re from a long line of pets.”
That was the last thing Gilbert needed to hear before he lunged at the boy, only to be pulled by the back of his shirt.
“Gilbert! I said be nice! Go stand outside while I get him settled into his room!”
Gilbert gave Alice a pleading look, he hated disappointing her, but turned a quick glare at the new boy, only stopping when Alice gently pushed him out of the room.

FicTober: Day 8
Prompt #8: "Give me that, before anything happens." Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating: G Warnings: N/A
Characters: Lizard Morelli, Alex Morelli, Lukkas Holt Ships: N/A
Nicola smiled brightly as he shook his new treasure in front of his brother’s face. He was very proud of the necklace he managed to steal from the Oklever prince. He had heard the roomers that the boy would be the next great ruler of Ephariel but he had been one of the easiest marks he’d ever seen! The boy hadn’t even dressed for their weather and ended up trusting his pile of royal linen to be watched after by his brother’s guards.
“Hey Alex, look what I got! Isn’t it pretty?”
He frowned as Alexander shot him a glare, trying to grab the necklace from him, “Give me that before anything happens to it! How did you even get that, Lizard?”
Nicola pouted, annoyed by his brother’s response, “It’s not my fault the ice boy left it in the open. You never know who has access to the rooms in the castle.”
“Hand it over, now! If Jason finds out you stole it, he’ll turn you into a popsicle for the griffens!”
Nicola quickly moved his hand out of Alexander’s reach, “And you’d let him? In our own home? That would be an act of war, and you know it.”
“Or you could leave my master’s belongings alone instead of pilfering a royal guest’s items when you are the host, Prince Nicola.”
Alexander and Nicola quickly turned to face Lukkas, who snatched the necklace from Nicola’s hand. The two nervously watched the boy, they didn’t know much about the Oklever guard.
They watched Lukkas boredly eye them before turning his attention to Nicola, “The Lizard moniker seems to suit your stealth. I’d recommend that in the future you make sure your target doesn’t have a vampyric guard lounging in his suite to see you steal.”
Nicola’s eyes widened in wonder, “Wait, are you a vampyre?! I heard Oklever had some but I’ve never met one!”
Alexander shrugged when Lukkas shot him a confused look at Nicola’s quick change in demeanor, “No, but my associate is. He was napping in Prince Jason’s room when you snuck in. He keeps night watch over the prince.”
Nicola quickly grabbed Alexander, marching toward the castle, “I must meet him! I have so many questions!”

FicTober: Day 7
Prompt #7: "Do you recognise this?" Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating: G Warnings: N/A
Characters:  Alice Sweeney, Roderich Klein, Gilbert Lehmann, Baltasar Klein Ships: N/A
Alice smiled brightly as she and Gilbert buzzed with excitement, they had been planning this surprise for months.
“Do you think he’ll like it? He’s been really upset since the divorce…”
“Alice, he’ll love it. I promise. I think it's just what he needs.”
Alice straightened her back, leaning up from polishing the ivory keys, “I hope so. He’s been avoiding everyone since he kicked her out.”
Gilbert smiled, pulling the black cloth over the piano to hide it, “He’s probably embarrassed about the situation. He loved her and trusted her, he didn’t even believe me when I told him about her. I’m sure he just doesn’t want an I told you so.”
The two jumped slightly as Baltasar excitedly dragged Roderich into the room, “Come on Dad!”
“Balt, relax. Why are we rushing? It’s-”
Roderich stilled when he noticed the two standing in his living room, “Alice? Gilbert? What are you two doing in my house?”
Alice smiled sheepishly, “Well, we’re here to surprise you.”
“We were worried, Rod. You’ve been avoiding everyone and even your kid was getting worried about you. He helped us plan a little surprise for you to force you to come to the annual get-together.”
Roderich huffed in annoyance, “And if I refuse?”
Alice smiled, quickly pulling the cloth off of the piano, “Then this will go to waste!”
Gilbert smirked as he watched Roderich’s wide eyes take in the piano beside them, “Do you recognise this, Roddy?”
Roderich hesitantly approached the large piano, “I…I can’t believe it. Where did you even get this?”
Alice gently placed her hand on his arm, “I saved it from the castle. Gilbert’s been working on fixing it up for years, and we finally got it working right again.”
Gilbert smiled proudly as he pointed to the keys, “The keys are from the old one, everything else I had to hand carve to match the burnt one.”
“You remade it?”
Gilbert nodded, “Yeah, you said it was your father’s. I couldn’t leave it to rot with the rest of the castle.”
Alice stifled her giggle as Roderich suddenly hugged Gilbert tightly.
“Dad, could you teach me how to play it?”
The three turned to the small boy who eyed the piano with awe, they had forgotten about the boy while they were caught up in the moment.
Roderich quickly wiped his eyes from the brimming tears, “Of course, I’ll show you just like my father taught me.”
Alice and Gilbert couldn’t hide their smiles as Roderich quickly sat beside his son and began to explain the different piano keys. He would recover from leaving his wife and so would his son.

FicTober: Day 6
Prompt #6: "I can't wait for you." Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating: G Warnings: N/A
Characters: Firmino Amello, Antonio Ships: Firmino x Isabella
Antonio sighed in defeat as he stared at Firmino, he just didn’t understand. Why was it always so hard for Firmino to believe he was just trying to watch his back? He wasn’t jealous, he didn’t want anything from him. He just needed him to know he was being used. The whole intervention he had planned blew up the minute they mentioned her name.
“Mino, I swear, I’m not lying. Isabella said it herself. She doesn’t love you, she never did. She is using you. I want you to be happy, believe me, but she isn’t going to make you happy. She will drop you the minute you aren’t useful anymore.”
He watched his eyes narrow at him, he knew he was touching a nerve, but it needed to be said. This was their last chance to get through to him before he crossed the line, they could only beat him over the head with the truth so much.
“Why can’t you just mind your own business?! She loves me, and I believe her! So what if Alice gets upset? I don’t care about her, I’m done serving her! We have a chance to stop being servants, I’m not letting you or some royal stop me!”
Antonio flinched, he expected him to lash out, but not toward Alice. She had been nothing but kind to them.
“Alice has nothing to do with this, Mino.”
Firmino rolled his eyes, “Of course it does! She’s involved in everything! The whole war would’ve had fewer casualties if she knew how to mind her own business!”
Antonio’s eyes narrowed as he felt anger build in his chest for the first time since they began to argue. He was fine with Firmino lashing out at him, that was normal, but for him to put the blame for the war Isabella fueled on Alice after all their time fighting beside her was his last straw. She had put herself in danger during the war to protect Firmino, he remembered watching her push him out of the way and taking on dragon fire to protect him.
He took a deep breath, “I can’t help you. I can’t wait for you to wake up and see the reality around you… I’ll leave…”
He turned, trying to keep the tears of frustration that were building behind his eyes from falling, “And Gilbert was right. Alice will forgive you for anything, but we won’t. You’re choosing your path. Don’t come crawling back to her when Isabella shows you her true colours.”
He heard Firmino scoff as he pulled the door closed behind him. He needed to put distance between them. Firmino was like a brother to him and he always supported him, but he couldn’t support this choice. This choice was going to leave him heartbroken and alone. He could only hope that Firmino wouldn’t be dumb enough to actually help Isabella in her crusade against them.

Full Name: Hayden Sigeberht Ayers Kingdom: Grissirynn Generation: 1
Tumblr media
*Art by the awesome @harchibudytgorichi
Hayden is the younger sister of Gareth Sweeney and the secondary heir to the Sweeney clan. As the secondary heir, she was raised knowing that she would likely be married off for the benefit of the clan. As she and her brother grew, they remained close but found themselves following different paths when he began to take his role as future leader more seriously, much to her disappointment. She is known for her blunt, sometimes rude, comments, never holding back her opinions. She is, however, very reserved in her emotions, like all Sweeney, to keep her magic under control. Her marriage to Morwen Ayers creates a strong political alliance uniting the newly formed Grissirynn and Epherial kingdoms. This also made the two strongest magic users in Tebos cousin clans. Hayden’s main goal is to help the Grissirynn people tame their wild lands.

FicTober: Day 5
Prompt #5: "You're the smartest person I know." Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating: G Warnings: N/A
Characters: Alice Sweeney, Symone Krupin, Tiino Tikkanen, Kevyn Elander Ships: Symone x Kevyn
Alice and Tiino snickered as they watched Symone and Kevyn dance around each other. Everyone knew the two were interested in each other, but they were painfully oblivious of it.
“Kevyn, would you mind helping me put this shelf together?”
“Of course, where is it going?”
Alice rolled her eyes as she at the table with Tiino, “This is the sixth shelf this month.”
Tiino laughed, handing her a cup of tea, “Isn’t her family known for building?”
Alice smirked, “If you ask her, she’ll insist she only worked with metal and runes.”
Symone shot the two a glare from her spot on the floor after Kevyn stepped out, “I can hear you two, you know!”
Alice and Tiino burst into giggles, at Symone’s attempt to be intimidating.
“That was the point, Symone. You can’t relegate me to be an audience to you trying to flirt so poorly and expect silence.”
Tiino’s smile widened, “You can’t expect Alice not to tease you, at least a little.”
Symone chucked a small log at the two, only for Tiino to catch it, “Just shut it you two! Go harass someone else. I’m sure that vampyre you have tied up in the basement would be more entertaining than me!”
Alice scoffed, turning her attention back to her tea, she didn’t want to deal with the assassin they had captured, he was too loud for the morning.
Tiino followed her lead, leaning back into his chair with his coffee, “He’ll be there in a few hours. He still thinks he has a choice, so we’re letting him think about his options for a while.”
Symone groaned in annoyance at the two before turning her attention to Kevyn as he returned with his toolbox.
Kevyn handed her the toolbox, “Here, this should have everything you need.”
Symone tried not to direct a glare toward the snickering two beside her, “Oh, when I asked for help, I meant that I need you to help me not just let me borrow your tools, Kevyn.”
Kevyn’s eyes widened as he glanced down at her, confused, “What do you need me to do then?”
“Well, I need you to help me design it and build it. I’d like your input because you’re the smartest person I know.”
That was their breaking point, to Kevyn’s confusion, Alice and Tiino loudly dissolved into a loud fit of laughter. It wasn’t long before Symone began chasing Alice around the room shouting threats. He didn’t understand what was going on, but he hoped he could help Symone. She meant the world to him, and to have her ask for his opinion meant more than anyone could imagine. He settled into a seat at the table, drafting ideas for the new shelf they would build together and drowning out the noise of the two women running around the room.

Fictober: Day 4
Prompt #4: Original Fiction: Broken Mirrors Series Rating: E Warnings: N/A
Characters: Xiong Liu, Kikuma Liu, Seyoung Liu, Hinata Liu, Lin Liu, Leon Liu Ships: N/A
Xiong smiled softly at the small girl curled in his lap as she slept. He had stopped reading the story to her a few minutes before when he was interrupted by the small snore that escaped her. He stifled a chuckle as he slowly transferred her to his bed, she hadn’t even gotten halfway through the book.
“What happened to not being tired, my little stone sleeper?”
He wasn’t expecting an answer as he gently placed his blanket over her and made his way out of the room, she could sleep through anything.
“You can’t keep her.”
Xiong jumped at the sudden voice behind him before glaring at the familiar guest, “I was unaware you were stopping by, Kiku. If you had informed me, I could have had tea ready, or a meal.”
Kikuma rolled his eyes as he walked toward the kitchen, “I wasn’t aware I needed to call. And my name is Kikuma, if you keep forgetting I may start believing you are not aging gracefully.”
“Disrespectful little -”
“He’s not wrong Xiong, you can’t keep the kid.”
Xiong’s gaze shifted to the doorway to see his eldest son leaning against it, as if he hadn’t been away from home for nearly four decades.
“Seyoung? What are you doing here?”
Seyoung sighed as he walked over to the counter, setting up a tray for tea, “Leon called, he was worried about you when you took in the stray.”
Kikuma and Xiong both shot a glare at the younger man.
Taking a cup from the tray, Kikuma glanced away from his surrogate family, “Seyoung, she is a child, not an animal.”
“She has no place to call home, I’m not letting her waste away in the village when I can do something about it.”
Xiong’s fist clenched as Seyoung rolled his eyes, “And she will grow and die like all the rest. You can’t keep torturing yourself by taking these strays in. We don’t belong here and they aren’t like us.”
Kikuma was quick to interrupt before Xiong could argue, “I don’t agree with his word choice, but he isn’t wrong. She will grow and die like the rest of the people here, she isn’t like us. You can’t keep taking these kids on and watching them die. You are torturing yourself.”
Xiong glared at the two, he knew they weren’t wrong, but they weren’t right either.
“She has no one. What if she wants to stay? Do you expect me to toss her to the streets?”
“She will stay, she will become one of us. She said she wants to stay with us.”
The three older men stiffened as they turned to see Hinata, clutching the small girl beside her. Her dark brown glare left no room for arguing.
“She’s my little sister now, so you old bats can argue all you want, we’re keeping Lin. She’s a Liu now and until she decides to die.”
