The Victors-
Grian- a man of rebellion and leadership- the sole survivor of a season where he pledged loyalty to another
Scott- a man of survival and loyalty- the sole survivor of a season where bonds were meant to be broken by bloodlust
Pearl- a woman of independence and endurance- the sole survivor of a season where she was meant to rely on her “other half”
Martyn- a man of ambition and determination- the sole survivor of a season where death was ensured from the beginning
Scar- a man of open-hearted friendliness and charisma- the sole survivor of a season where secrets ostracized him from camaraderie
And Cleo- a person of steadiness and consistency- the sole survivor of a season of chaos and uncertainty

sorry i was replying with a comment but it got too long to like check for spelling lol
it is better to have watched the other fantasy highs before jumping into sophomore year. both because of character arcs and various plot/references/bits.
personally i think season 1 is genuinely a good introduction to both the system and the players. and also brennan's dm-ing style in particular. but it is like five years old at this point, so i can understand wanting to start with a season where the players know more what they're doing. something similar goes for the unsleeping city (chapter one!), which is truly a love letter to new york and so charming.
honestly only like 8 out of 21 are interconnected, and the genres and number of episodes per season vary so much you can start from where you're at your most comfortable. i know i can go on talking about this for so much longer so if you need more details im more than happy to share.
otherwise it depends! if you're already extremely familiar with the base system, don't mind some jargon and want something high-energy sci-fi i love a starstruck odyssey SO MUCH; or if you want something chiller and more character focused you could start from dracula-inspired coffin run or jane austen high-fantasy a court of fey and flowers (though neither of these are pure d&d, different but similar systems).
honorable mention to my beloved, a crown of candy, absolutely not the place to start unless you're SURE a political, low-fantasy, more serious setting is the one for you.
okay yeah you know what I’ll use the weird but perhaps predictable amount of fandom crossover between “actual play d&d shows” and “mcyt” to my advantage: I have a dropout subscription, mostly for the various improv shows (obviously game changers, make some noise, I like very important people, sometimes I like breaking news, etc). the other marquee series on here of course is dimension 20. two questions: I know the current season is a sequel; do I have to have watched the original fantasy high to jump in or will it be good without that? also, is there a specific d20 season you recommend as a first one? I may consider giving this thing a shot,

i love how Pearl, from the moment she joined Hermitcraft, has committed FULLY and COMPLETELY to being a public servant of all things. That girl joined probably the most prestigious server you can be invited to, looked around, and said "Very nice builds, but you aren't giving the roads here a fair suck!" and then pulled up her sleeves and WENT AT IT. in s8 she was Head of Infrastructure for Boatem. s9 she was the Cleaning Lady and now in s10 she's Postmaster.
I think she'd lay curled up like a dead spider in a corner somewhere if she wasn't allowed to do public service. Madwoman.

i find it very funny that people keep saying that grian is going against his rebellion rule by working for the government (not necessarily incorrect) and that the dhp is going to incite a revolt because the dhp is Different from previous governing forces in that the only control grian is excising over the other hermits its annoying them as much as possible (which he does regardless).
like. hermits love corruption. they love running corrupted governments and then dismantling them violently for fun. the dhp isnt necessarily Not Corrupt, but its Not Not Corrupt either. grian gets no profits out of this. he tries to avoid doing his job in every way possible but he still ends up doing it. the dhp is just here to rectify any mistakes made during the initial hermit permit set up and help people with their permit problems.
the dhp is meant to be as soul sucking as possible, but it does still help in the end (if you can actually get grian to cooperate). He'll Do This For You, but he Won't Be Happy About It. his sole payment is how crazy it all drives you.
and while this is not NOT an unrevoltable offense (the hermits have certainly rebelled for less), this also doesnt show any outright corruption other than whatever you'd call a depressed looking man working customer service who hates you for making him do his job. which i dont think really counts. thats just what customer service does to you.
