I've seen "I don't know how to play with toys anymore" a few times lately and just wanted to point out-

Playing with toys looks different for everyone, even actual children!

Playing with toys can look like: 🧸🪁🚂

Taking pictures of your toys and writing captions for them

Brushing or grooming soft toys or toys with rooted hair

Ordering or sorting your toys by colour/species etc

Making up stories, poems or comics about your toys

Dressing or accessorising your toys

Imagining your toys talking to you or each other, forming opinions of their own, etc

Drawing your toys

Taking your toys for a walk outside, even in a backpack or pocket if you don't want to carry them openly

Making lists of the toys you have and where you got them etc

Feel free to add your own ideas

Caregiver headcannons

Uses words like darling, sweetie, angel, love, ect, to refer to the reader (canon in the movie to Melisha). Even calls you baby/little chick/chicken on occasion.

HATES seeing you sad and dons the chicken costume to cheer you up, simular to a children's entertainer in a holiday park.

Absoulutly LOVES to watch you play

The one thing he admires about you is your childlike sense of wonder, fun and playfulness (esp in littlespace) and thinks it's quite sweet.

Also, he feels honoured that you trust him to care for you and you feel safe with him. It helps he did psychology degrees.

That being said, he does try his best to.provide as safe a space as possible for you to regress and play. In fact, he encourages you to play when he's done setting things up for you.

Will cradle you in his arms if needed. Kiss you on the head as you sleep. Tuck you in when you're sleepy. Stroke/pat/ruffle your head. Tickle you. Cuddle you. Boop you. Change you (mind you, he doesnt really enjoy it as much as he enjoys playing with you but hey, it has to be done) and put you in your nappy.

Will sometimes put on cartoons for you to watch and put on puppet shows (with chickens!!) On his big TV.

He watches you sometimes from his couch when you're in the playpen or if busy, on the video baby monitor, but that is kept separately from his other cameras.

Some new gear i got from goodwill yesterday. I like the giraffe and rattle the most.

i'm absolutely obsessed with age regressor dirk, and your art of him makes me real happy and excited that other people enjoy it too! i feel like his character makes it easy to see how he'd be a regressor- something about his hard exterior but slightly childish interests (mlp, puppetry, perhaps other things i'm forgetting) as well as his trauma makes it obvious, at least imo. (i especially love regressor dirk and caretaker jake, but that's just me) thanks so much for making agere art of him and even other hs characters!! your art is super lovely and an inspiration, and i can't wait to see more from you in the future!!! <3

This is so sweet, wow. Agere Dirk means so much to me, as a hard Dirk kin with some fucked up shit goin on up there, so this means a lot that others like him as well. I agree with you, its very easy to see how he could in canon. Even his more adult interests like swords and robots. at their base they can be very childlike. I also agree with the Jake caretaker stuff, i think all the alphas would take turns caring for him, but mostly Jake. I think hed find it so fun, especially since he already loves Dirk so much. I dont think it would be hard for him to understand if Dirk explained. I also think Dirk is SO embarrassed about it so it helps that all his friends support and care about him enough to want to help. There will most definitely be more agere Dirk and other Homestucks in the future- some with Jake soon, and much more.
