Breaking Down Moments From The Trailer
oh man, it’s been a while huh? the hb trailer came out a while ago but I figured it’s still relevant enough to talk about so that’s what I’m doing. I’ll simply be speculating on things that got my attention in the trailer!
starting with
these two scenes clearly take place in the same episode and in the same location. I’m not 100% sure that big shadow is Andrealphus but I think it’s safe to assume it’s him based off of what we know. I believe this is also the same area we saw the Octavia leak take place so I think there’s a good chance we see her side with Stella’s family in a fake out “turn to the evil side” scenario
on a similar note these two scenes of Blitzo and Millie fighting don’t seem to take place in the same episode. now I’m not saying this based off the location but off of the outfits. unless the characters do a quick change between fighting I think it’s safe to say we’re going to see a plot line of Millie and Blitzo having disagreements/fights through out AT LEAST two episodes of this season
this is pure speculation but I’m like ninety nine percent sure that this is Tilla. It’s very exciting that we might get to see her after so long but she’ll also probably get the Barbie Wire treatment if not worse so…
I’ve seen a lot of theories over who this fiery guy could be but I think the correct guess is the wrath sin, Satan. why he’s saying “you’re a disgrace” I have no clue. at first I assumed he was in the same room as Mammon and was scolding Stolas but Stolas isn’t in that scene (as stated very clearly)
i DO think that these two scenes are related and probably take place in the same time as the Mammon one. the railings with the snake and apple pattern appear in both. they also use the same template of blobby background characters if that will help prove my point at all
Octavia, you poor sweet summer child. she deserves so much better than what they’re gonna give her. on a more positive note though, I do really like that they’re keeping the star motif she’s had throughout the show
this is so dumb I can’t even talk about it. Verosika get outta there girl, you actually have a well explained reason to say Blitzo sucks, not this overdressed owl
no clue what this guy is about. he has the same marking on his chest that Blitzo has on his bell. we know that bell came from Tilla but that’s about it. if anyone has any theories I’m open to hearing them
the too many villains thing is really showing in this trailer. now not all these characters are necessarily villains but all of them will cause at least some struggle for our main characters. that’s seven in total (eight if you’re counting Stella and her brother separately and six of you group the cherubs and dorks together). all of this is supposed to span across only five episodes. that isn’t mentioning any internal conflict or joke time. the writing team is gonna have to work overtime to fit everything in
that’s all I’ve got to say. I could break down the trailer frame by frame but I don’t have the energy for that. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s thoughts as we progressively get closer to the release date of Full Moon. thanks for reading and I’ll see ya next time!

I wanted to touch on this reblog I got from my last post because it brings up something I noticed when swapping the HH colors
in one of the tags they discuss the weird black bit on Charlie’s hip area. this is supposed to be the leg line from what I can tell. the reason it looks so awkward is because her pants don’t go up to her hips, rather they sag near the start of her thigh(?)
it makes her pants look separate because of that one line indicating the spilt between her legs.
granted that the pants don’t look as bad or noticeable most of the time. you can tell the waist band area is thin but still there because of how they angle the camera
however it still looks incredibly awkward if you look at it for to long, especially in certain shots. now I do think there’s a chance her pants do go up but the top area is covered by the shirt. it would make since for them to not want her pants to go all the way up to her waist because then you’ve got red on red which might not look as appealing in the very red landscape
I do think it’s worth mentioning that in the pilot the pants did in fact go all the way up her hips! This isn’t as big of a problem because not only is the top jacket cropped/shirt tucked in compared to the final design but her pants are black
sorry for the long post about a character’s pants, this just really bothered me while I was working on the post. I wouldn’t say this is criticism or something I’d fault the show for, just an interesting design choice I noticed!

in the Hazbin Hotel pilot….. I thought Carmilla was wearing a dress
she’s very obviously not, I have no idea how I thought she was
I think it’s just how she walks, the very small step made me, for some unknown reason, think she was wearing a tight long dress
I do think she would look good with a longer dress, at least to me. I have no idea what role she plays in the show so maybe she needs to have her movement not be restricted but like-
okay here’s two poorly edited examples so y’all can see what I mean
also quick side not, I have no idea why they did this but I think they chose quite possibly the most unflattering image of her for her png/main photo. Maybe this is just a wiki thing but geez, what did they do to you girl?

time for me to scurry out of my nest and talk about Hazbin Hotel!
just kidding, I’m here to discuss a possible way to actually incorporate chickens into Mimzy’s character after Viz dropped that bomb of a fact on us
obligatory warning that I haven’t seen Hazbin after episode one and I’m not well versed on the 1920s so take what I say with a grain of salt!
first let’s start with how we have to reconstruct Mimzy as a character to actually mess with her design
Mimzy is supposed to be a sinner from the 1920s, particularly a flapper. I honestly don’t hate this idea but the execution of the flapper area isn’t as clean as I think it could be
flappers are often associated with being the politically rebellious, sexually liberated, free girls of their century. while that’s a pretty generalized and stereotypical way of portraying them it’s still a start. Mimzy does have some of these traits, from what we can tell she’s a heavy party person and drinker. However, I’d like to see her dip into what she did in her past more. Case in point, maybe have her and Husk get along as Mimzy acts as someone who points out the inhumanity of Alastor’s acts to Husk. OR keep that tension between them, have Husk point out how Mimzy is supposedly a fighter of freedom (referencing flapper’s fights for women’s rights during the 1920s) but she side eyes Alastor’s treatment of Husk. Mimzy can get all serious and say “hey I fought my battle”, it makes it her a bit of a jerk but if everyone in the main cast wasn’t so weirdly nice for hell it wouldn’t!
alright I hear you, let’s ACTUALLY a talk about the chicken thing!
I think instead of Mimzy being based off chickens she should just be a woman who likes chickens. it’s stupid but hear me out
Mimzy could have had a pet chicken in her human life, think 1920s boudoir dolls. like an obsessive pet owner Mimzy surrounds her whole aesthetic to this chicken. her flapper outfit has it’s feathers and she makes sure it has a little bow on. personally I’d vote for it to be a silkie chicken, they’re often pets and they feel like something you would see a girl carry around in her purse like a crusty little white dog
I’d like to see Mimzy as this once great flapper. she was a spunky, women’s rights activist, party girl with a statement pet chicken who now enjoys more laidback club activities in hell. she knows Alastor may not be the best guy but he showed her support at some point and who’s she to shame a friend? I get that’s what her character is supposed to be but she sounds way to active and insincere in her lines to seem remotely genuine about much of anything.
sorry, this kinda just turned into a Mimzy rant instead of a Mimzy chicken rant! I hope my point still came across, give my girl a chicken! as always I’ll say that your entitled to your own opinion, if you like Mimzy or would do a rewrite of her differently that’s great!

I want to preface before I start this post that I’ve never seen Hazbin Hotel! Scrolled through the fandom and critical tag once in a while but purely stayed away after episode one turned out not to be my cup of tea. However, I got recommended the soundtrack by a friend and figured I’d give it a go, I’m no stranger to enjoying music from musicals I haven’t seen.
Tell me why, as someone who’s only seen episode one, Charlie and Alastor have much better chemistry in “Hell’s Greatest Dad” than Vaggie and Charlie had in the entirety of the first episode (and I assume the rest of the series based off posts I’ve seen).
I started with “Hell’s Greatest Dad” when trying the soundtrack and that was the ONLY thought going through my head. I mean if you took out the forced daddy-daughter implications than Alastor’s part holds better weight as a romantic partner singing to Charlie.
As interesting of a premise Charlie and Vaggie’s relationship is I can’t help but think that these two, even if you had to change some stuff, are just much more interesting as love interests. The dynamic of a cheerful, goal driven girl with fighting abilities and a guy who flaunts his powers with a secret dark backstory has been done before and for good reason!
While there’s definitely character traits keeping this pairing back from being perfect, Charlie’s overplayed nativity being one, I just can’t get it off my mind how well they worked together in this ONE song.
I’m not trying to erase the representation Charlie and Vaggie give us, nor am I trying to start any shipping debates. Like I said I’ve only ever seen episode one and fully intend to keep it that way. This was just a thought on my mind I figured I’d share because gah, just look at the screenshots people!

I know I’ve talked about beelzebub a lot before but I just keep thinking about all the missed potential with her character!
and yes I’m aware she’s old news but I wanted to share a quick little thing
I think bee being a fly would’ve worked for so many cool narrative reasons!
she could’ve been a looked down upon sin who is judged by the others for her actions, way of interacting with her people, or personality!
she could’ve been some sort of protecter or refuge leader of the hellhounds, connecting her a tiny little bit better to the animal trainer idea
that would make her a potentially good strong ally for I.M.P or maybe just loona, lord knows that girl could use some friends (and therapy but that’s another post)
her pop song could be her singing about her enemies/bullies (the sins) and her calling them spiders who starve themselves until the right time but she’s a fly who indulges all the time (bad rhyme and reference but I hope you get what I’m saying here!)
I have so many ideas flooding my brain about this character! she really could’ve worked so well but she didn’t (I mean she wasn’t 100% the worst but I didn’t even know she was supposed to be a sin until three days after watching)
anyway I’ll shut up now, gotta get myself caught up on all the newest helluva/hazbin details, just wanted my first post back in this tag to be a more lighthearted one!

so I think I found out what bugged me about the Hazbin Hotel teaser (is that what it is, I’ve seen it referred to as multiple things)
it’s the lack of voice acting
voice acting can really make or break a show for me personally so to not see it kind of scares me?
I think hazbin’s marketing could really benefit from voice acting advertising. not just showing us the voices either
if we got to see maybe a couple of clips stitched together in a compilation of the voice actors behind the scenes or just talking I feel I would be much more attached
it’s kinda hard to get me excited about one character, let alone a whole cast, if I can’t get a read on that sorta thing. plus the voices help portray the characters personality! visuals can help but if I was new to hazbin and just saw a split second clip of Angel dancing I wouldn’t care about him
no hate, I’m excited to see what’ll happen in the build up till Jan, I’m just hoping the marketing gets better than a clip on twitter
