Do you know what fortitude means? a silvery voice says in her mind.  She looks over to see the owl’s large eyes still watching her intently. Its head tilts, as if emphasizing the question it has just asked.  Annabeth swallows hard, unsure of what awaits her, but also unafraid. She has met every challenge ever placed in front of her, and this time will be no different.  “It means courage in pain or adversity,” she answers confidently.  The owl spreads its wings and leans forward slightly, as if bowing. A child of wisdom, indeed, it says. Instinctively, Annabeth puts her arm out and the owl lands on it.   Annabeth's mind barely has a chance to register that she is speaking to an owl when the library begins to call to her like a siren song. As if in a trance, she begins to walk up the steps towards the entrance, and all she can do is hope there are no jagged rocks awaiting her on the other side.  Come now, Miss Chase, it says. We mustn’t keep our Lady waiting.

”Percy threw his arms around her. They kissed, and for a moment nothing else mattered. An asteroid could have hit the planet and wiped out all life and Annabeth wouldn’t have cared”.

The red figure lets out a low growl as they drop the woman and a spear suddenly appears in their hand, its tip crackling blue. “I need that crystal, now stop lying to me!”

They begin to raise the spear over the woman and Percy’s grip on Riptide tightens as he surges forward, vaulting over the fallen cabinet.  

“Hey, Big Red!” Percy yells. “How about you try picking on someone your own size?”

The red figure turns toward him slowly, a wicked smile appearing as they take him in. “Name’s Boar, pipsqueak” they say through gritted teeth. “And you certainly ain’t my size so how’s about you just get out of my way?”

Imagine you finally kiss the guy you’ve had a crush on forever and less than 10 minutes later he literally explodes and takes a whole ass volcano with him

Annabeth is watching a music video. It’s the only possible explanation. She’s slipped into some strange parallel universe where her life is a music video and stupidly attractive boys are smudged with motor oil and leaning over the engines of their gorgeous muscle cars while shirtless.

Either that or she died in a fiery plane crash and is currently living it up in the afterlife.
