Something about writing I have learned over the course of spending too much time nose first in writing programs.
You aren't writing to be perfect up to that scene you have in your head, you are writing to explain both How and Why.
Asking yourself questions about how the story got to this point, why these characters work together, how their recent victory changes the world around them, why they must press on-are all questions you need to focus on all at the same time. And it can be frustrating because you never know when something will misalign until you're 500+ words into a scene you didn;t want. But also those words elaborate on some side context to the point that getting rid of them runs the risk of you forgetting that context.
This isn't so much me trying to explain how to write and more so explaining what writing is like, a constant dance with 40+ things happening all at once. And you can't put too much focus into how pretty the words are because then all you have is nice prose and no real story.
