Host: You wear gloves that are really protective, and that was really cool that you showed me your glove last year and compared it to the gloves of your teammates in the stall next to you, they’re completely different. They remind me of the original gloves, like hockey gloves that I saw when I was 12. Tell me about your gloves being leather and the others’ not.
Sid: Yeah, I mean, that’s just what I use, you know. Growing up, that’s what hockey gloves were, they were a little bit longer, heavier, just with the material, and that’s just what I got used to wearing and what I’ve always used, I don’t think I’ve changed my gloves since—
Host: Do you know of anybody else using leather?
Sid: Not many, no. I mean, guys typically go lighter, they like lighter gloves and- with all the different materials they have, they like smaller gloves, just because they’re not as intrusive, they’re able to handle the puck and feel their stick a little bit better but— I always liked the little bit heavier gloves, the weight on your hands…”
Sidney Crosby, on what Jeff Carter has meant to him: "A lot. We played together at World Juniors, and kind of grew up playing with Team Canada together, and then played against him when he was just Philadelphia [grins], so a bit of a rivalry there. Things change."
