First blood.
It'll become clear soon, but not all of Defiance is here - there are around 100 members in the group in total, and only about twenty here today. But it seems like a lot to the cats.
Also, Prowl did kill Mallowstar by snapping his neck, but I understand it may not be obvious in the art because I didn't want to look at pictures of broken necks for reference. Regardless he died near instantly.
He did his best.

my mother commented that the perfume i made for lurien felt like 'scattering someone's ashen remains to the sea' and i ran with the idea

Monomon once spoke of the sea.
The resting place of all rivers, an endless expanse of water.
Lurien had never seen it.

The sea he bore witness to
was a deep
dark
abyss
of regrets.
A shadow lurking in wait
for the inevitable night.

Why are you here?
To lay my sins to rest.
As did all who came before me.
Why are you here?
To hold a funeral.
Farewell, to the days I lived in this name.

For it is dawn.
Time to wake up from the dream.

In page 3, the line "Farewell, to the days I lived in this name." has several layers to it. Names are one of the first things that define a person's identity. Lurien is bidding farewell to the life he lived as 'Lurien', this is obvious.
But in Hallownest language, a person's name is written by a pictogram of that person's face. So Lurien's name in written form would be a picture of his face. Of his mask, which is implied to be directly tied to one's self in Hollow Knight.
So in that scene Lurien is letting go of his life, his identity, and his existence as he knew it.
