Whether you write fanfic or original works or paint/draw, be it fan art or original work or whatever else - I have to know, because I have a feeling this is going to be very decisive:
some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
I just read through heartstrings and it’s absolutely amazing. I know it’s probably not in the front of your mind since it was ch.2, but is the spider implant in Syntax’s back covering all of his back or is it little. (In the show it’s about the size of someone’s face, so I was curious on how you were seeing it)
Aaaaa first off thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed reading it!! <333
Also yeah! So there are multiple headcanons that I liked regarding the physical makeup of the spider bot once it implants. There was an art piece/comic strip I read somewhere where the spider bot is essentially backpacking its victim; its legs just dig into the person's body and the venom is injected from the bottom of it as it inserts into the person's spinal chord- so it can go directly to the brain
Other headcanons suggest that the spider bot isn't actually visible, as it basically 'sheds' any large parts of its body that aren't needed. Instead, it carves into the person's back creating 4 metallic implants in which the spider bot anchors itself, while the venom can still travel through the spinal chord and the spider limbs are all that remains of the spider boy :]
