Still wondering what prompted them to make this choice though - and whether or not they'll also apply this to the standard duelists at the Gate in the future too.
With Alito's event, I've noticed something that I initially thought must have just been an update that was added to the game itself when I didn't notice - but as it turns out, that isn't the case.
So this is the screen where you Duel Alito at the Gate - and there's an option to either Duel manually or Auto-Duel.
This confused me when I first saw it because I was pretty sure there wasn't any option to use Auto-Duel normally at the Gate. So then I thought Konami had released a new update that added the option to Auto-Duel at the Gate (which would probably ruin the only time I ever actually manually Duel because I'm forced to).
But there's still no option to Auto-Duel with the rest of the characters.
Which means Konami specifically includes the option for Alito's event alone - but for what reason?
I can't recall any event before where they had the option to Auto-Duel the character at the Gate, which means it's probably the first time they've done this (although I didn't keep up with Serena or Shay's events so if there was an option to Auto-Duel them at the Gate let me know).
Maybe Konami have accepted that we as a society are getting lazier and can no longer be asked to manually Duel these characters at the Gate that we collect like ornaments.
Strange.

The Auto-Duel function has pulled a few interesting moves before but it's mainly pretty terrible against characters that aren't just the basic NPCs.

Not much happening next month; we've got the KC Cup, Christopher's - or Quinton's - addition to the Gate, a rerun of Solomon Muto's event Duel Quest, and, of course, the 'massive update' - which is obviously the addition of the next spin-off to the game.
Since we only just received Alito's unlock event this month, we probably won't get anything else from ZEXAL until November or so - Arc V, possibly sooner than that.
Seems we're inching more and more closer to the probability that the next character, unlock or not, in October - if there is one, that is - will be someone from GX.
The only issue is, there doesn't seem to be any suggestion that there will be - but Solomon Muto's inclusion appeared to have been a random decision also, so it's quite possible that the same will happen for GX also. At this point, it's pretty much the only show that hadn't had a character event for so long (I can't recall DSOD's last character event, though).

Alito's official event is here (since yesterday, but yesterday was a whirlwind so I've only checked it today) and I haven't even gotten very far but the beginning has already left me confused - and with so much to say.
Seems a bit weird to start this event based on the episodes that it's currently following, which are both not that relevant to Alito himself as much but also don't feature him a lot either. In fact, he's not the focal point at all during these events.
However...
Seeing this makes up for it a bit.
Shocked to see him to be honest - I wasn't expecting Konami to just casually drop him in like that. At best, I assumed they'd make him a shadow figure.
Though during Shay's (I think?) event, they did, in fact, show a sprite of Rin, though she's yet to actually appear - and it's been pretty much confirmed she's coming now, since Serena is here too.
So perhaps Konami decided to just start showing the sprites of characters they hadn't yet added but intend to add soon.
Now, following the events of this introductory scene, you would assume that it's going to continue with how the next part in the anime played out.
But instead:
Time has somehow shifted, and in the second scene we've reached the point where Girag is threatening Yuma with the mob of possessed schoolchildren.
This takes place not only after Mizar and Kite's duel, but also after Yuma and Shark's during their time in hospital, too.
Which means Konami have essentially skipped over both those incidents - but why? Are they going to return to them again - at least the former - when Mizar's event comes?
Or are they going to start his event from a further point in time, such as when he and Kite duel on the moon?
Yet that would be complicated to pull off, considering it takes place after Shark is discovered to be a Barian, as well - which he's clearly forgotten about and is unaddressed in Duel Links, since he's suffering from that strange amnesia that the ZEXAL characters selectively have.
And if Mizar has an initial roaming event, too, it's difficult to figure out what they'll include in that compared to his unlock event.
Not to mention why Konami felt the need to make the introduction to Alito's event following the episodes it did before skipping ahead for the second scene.
It seems either like slightly messy and confusing writing - or a deliberate effort to show off Mizar's sprite as if to tease his (inevitable) release.
Even so, it seems strange and a bit unnecessary, as well.
But Konami do as they wish, so onwards we go.

One of the events for next month (late August, unfortunately), which is going to be exciting since we'll be able to actually unlock Alito - but apart from this, not really anything new.
Z-one is going to be added to the gate, and we're having a rerun of Yugo's event.
And considering we're having Serena/Celina's unlock event this month too, it's highly unlikely we'll get an Arc-V - or ZEXAL - character in September...meaning there's a pretty good chance that we'll get a character roaming or unlock event from GX.
Although Konami could also choose not to bring in any new characters and instead have one of those Duelist Kingdom events because they've definitely done that before.
It would be interesting if they brought Vector in during late October - but I'm guessing by the way that Alito's event ended that the next character from ZEXAL will probably be Mizar (and I'm much too excited for that).
Looks like we're following the events of the anime. Again.

So Alito came to Duel Links yesterday and looks absolutely adorable pretty good - but it seems he's suffering from the same amnesia as Girag did because we're reliving the anime's storyline again, word for word.
Not that this is necessarily a bad thing - it just kind of contradicts what Yuma and Astral said around the initial time of unlocking the ZEXAL world (I can't remember exactly what they said, but it was something about Astral commenting on how they'd 'lost the Numbers again', and just being weirded out by Duel Links in general). It's definitely weird because there were moments when Yuma and Astral said things that implied they had arrived in Duel Links after all the tumultuous events that occurred in ZEXAL - post-canon, basically.
So what does this mean?
Possibly that Alito's event is almost like a memory of what happened prior - like we are actually reliving those moments from the anime, and once we've unlocked Alito he'll interact with the other characters normally like he's known them for a while now.
It's worth noting we can't yet unlock Alito so his unlock event might have some different theme - though I'm guessing it'll follow his Duel with Yuma, and maybe cover that part of the storyline - and possibly show him getting beaten up by Rei/Ray, which might hint at Vector being the next unlock (this kind of goes against the order of their appearance in the anime - but then getting Quinton this late was insane and I'm still convinced he's only here because the fans pushed for it). This is all speculation, but I think there is a fair chance at least that Alito's unlock event will be themed on his Duel with Yuma (maybe not the initial one he has over Tori but the one he has after when he morphs into his Barian form).
Whatever happens I hope the rest of the Barians come out looking this freaking adorable good.

so we already know Celina and Alito are coming and this pretty much confirms we're getting the rest of the barians too which is reassuring because there was speculation some of them might not make the cut but they all did so yay XD
since Alito's gonna be roaming and Celina's gonna be an unlockable character we probably won't get Yuri until October or so - meaning Alito will have his unlock event probably in September (or maybe August)
there's been a lot of speculation we're going to get a GX character soon since it's been a while since they released one, so they'll probably come in at August
apparently it's most likely to be Atticus (reddit users will know better than me since I don't keep up with GX that much)
other possible characters are Adrian, Yubel and Jesse (but Atticus is pretty popular so I'm guessing it'll be him)
however VRAINS also hasn't had a new character for quite a while since Varis was released (which was around January or so) so we're probably going to get a character or two from there as well pretty soon
goes without saying these next few months are going to be pretty interesting so let's wait and see what happens
edit: someone told me Yubel and Jesse are already here so that's proof I don't keep up with GX as much as I should - guessing the next character will almost certainly be Atticus then

saw this a couple of days ago but only got round to posting this today smh
we're getting our next ZEXAL character, and it's Alito at last - but since he didn't come directly after Girag and instead after Quinton (and I'm still convinced his late introduction was only because we all spammed Konami with threats to include him or else we'd boycott the game) it could mean his event will either: (1) loosely follow the events of the anime since Girag's event did somewhat, or (2) be quite different to his introduction in the anime (though there'll definitely be parts where he's chasing either Tori or Yuma) and there'll be some strange storyline that will probably not make that much sense but still be kind of interesting to see.
I think they'll reference one of the other barians in Alito's event too and that'll probably be the next character we'll get
exciting news though so let's see how this turns out
edit: he is gonna be roaming so it'll obviously be another two or three months before we actually get him...meaning his unlock event might be different to this roaming one

just thinking about that frightens me
so we got our upcoming events update for march earlier today and suddenly the chris id leak makes sense
but like the day before we were told he is essentially coming to duel links??? usually we get ids linked a lot more in advance???
though for some characters we don't get any leaked at all so whatever
I mean no id leak meant we had no idea whether we were getting scarlett, alito or girag until the event came around
but honestly the fact that christopher is actually coming to the game has still got me in shock
this is like the first time ever konami are bringing in a character who they already featured without voice lines or updated duel links art
for me it was the old art that gave it away when I saw him in the game because that had me believing chris wasn't going to be in the game since he didn't have updated art (which is weird if you think about it because both his brothers are there so why wouldn't he get to be??)
but apparently I was wrong this is so crazy
if this really is true then it completely contradicts the timeline of zexal in duel links and messes it up royally because I'm convinced now that christopher is going to have an event similar to his brothers where he comes into duel links to investigate and is already peachy with everyone implying this is set post-canon
meaning if the next barian to come in the game has an event similar to how they appeared in the show (like girag did), it would make absolutely no sense
see? it contradicts itself so bad.
the capital I on the word inferno really threw me off though, I thought it was referring to some monster or something I didn't know about (because I haven't seen all the yugioh shows)
redditors have said that it's because of the japanese line that they know it's christopher for sure - I swear if it wasn't for them we'd never know which character was coming next (rio's line was so generic I cried)
but some of them have also said that allegedly christopher actually said this line nearly word for word in episode 51??
maybe I'll check it out for myself...maybe.

I'm seriously confused now
why would they put him in the game earlier without any voice lines or new design or anything only to suddenly put his id in the game now
does that mean everyone else who's featured like that could potentially make it at some point??
it's weird this just goes against everything we've been led to believe up until now
personally though I think they're only bringing him in due to fan requests so we probably won't see anyone else who featured in that same way like vetrix or dr faker
I know they did this for lester and jakob too so I'm guessing there are more characters that were left out of the game in this way
if they do actually bring christopher in that would be insane...good. I just wish they'd give some justice to the other characters who should have made it too but didn't.
but hey I guess all we can do is wait and see

looks like rush duel is going to be coming to duel links in september, along with sevens - which is fine, but I just hope we get at least some of the other barians in zexal by then and what happened with the dark signers doesn't happen with them.
but I know a lot of people expected girag to be dropped from the game because he was less important to the storyline of zexal (though he was the first official barian to show up) so if they've included him now it's more likely we'll get all of the other barians too. probably in chronological order to the show...but not necessarily.
also a new monster type...'ocgmonsters'??
wonder if this refers to the time konami brought out that legacy duel mode...I don't know if it's still there since I haven't been really active on the game recently but from what I can remember it was in the beta version when I noticed so I'm guessing it might not be there anymore. that or it was some kind of event a while ago?? I really can't remember but for now that's the only thing I can think of.
