Ina Kingsley x MC: I’m not needed, never will I be - Part 3
Summary: An unexpected visitor throws Raven’s life around.
Warnings: ANGST, negative thoughts, swearing, maybe a sprinkle of fluff, hurt Raven

Author’s Notes: It mentions some of Raven’s negative thoughts. If you are uncomfortable with it, I advise you not to read it. This does not affect the other stories, think of it as an alternate universe or something-) It mentions some characters from previous fics. For the ones who do read it, I hope you enjoy it. It has not been proofread, although, feedback is appreciated if you message me in private. I will edit it later. This series seems to continue as long as I have ideas for it to end.
Raven woke up and the first thing she checked was her messages. She read Ina’s text which resulted in a little pinch to her heart. She wasn’t sure if she should be jealous or if she should be glad that she had a trustable place to stay while drunk. Before she could begin her morning routine, there was a knock at the door.
She was surprised that Ina would knock but thought nothing of it, maybe her hangover was a lot if she didn’t use her keys. When Raven opened the door, it wasn’t Ina. Another woman was standing opposite, a little taller than Ina but around the same age as her. Blond-haired and blue eyes examine Raven.
“Hi, is Ina here?”
“Depends on who’s asking.”
The question of Ina’s whereabouts stirred unexpected feelings of possessiveness. The woman raised an eyebrow before choosing her words.
“Well, I’m Elizabeth. You can call me Liz, I’m Ina’s ex-fiancee. But I heard she was here and I was in the area so I dropped by for a visit.”
“What makes you think she’d want to see her ex?”
Liz lets out a little laugh before walking past Raven into the apartment, she looked around the apartment coming across a photo of Ina and Raven together.
“Wow, I see we’ve moved onto this quite seriously.”
“Can you leave?”
Liz acknowledged Raven’s request before slowly approaching the doorway.
“I’ll leave for now. But I’ll let you know, what makes you think Ina would stay with someone like you? Young, you’d get bored easily when Ina is the type of person who’d want to settle down after the adventures we had.”
With that, she walked out. Raven shut the door before slipping onto the couch, replaying Liz’s words.
Would Ina really leave me?
After an hour, Ina opened the door and spotted Raven.
“Raven! You’re up, why do you look dull?”
“I missed you so I slept pretty awkwardly last night.”
She welcomed her girlfriend with a kiss, staying silent about the encounter with Liz.
“Should I get started on breakfast?”
“Oh no! It’s okay, I ate at my friend’s. I’m going to start catching up on missing work.”
“I see.”
In an attempt to spend more time together, she pulled Ina back into a hug.
“Can we go out or stay in and watch a movie tonight?”
“This is new. I mean, we can stay in. I’m too tired to go out and I have to get started on work.”
“I just missed you and wanted to spend time with you.”
Raven let go and Ina gave her a flirty wink before she walked into her home office. The younger woman decided to get started on her day and blow off her steam at the gym.
******
“Raven, we should take a break.”
“I’m fine, Tal.”
“I know but I’m tired, girl.”
Raven harshly unstrapped her boxing gloves and Tal dropped the punching targets.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know, lately Ina and I have been distancing but it doesn’t feel like it sometimes. We’d have a nice moment and then life, our differences, would start to creep its way back in. This morning, Liz, Ina’s ex-fiancee, showed up at our apartment today.”
“No way! Why?”
“I don’t know, she wanted to see Ina because she found out she lived there. Told me things that I’d get bored and that Ina would want to settle down.”
“Is that why you’re in a bad mood? Because her ex showed up at your door and started spewing some bullshit?”
“No, I’m scared that maybe there’s truth within those words. What if I can’t separate our relationship from how different we are? I’m starting to work and she already has a career. I want to go out with my girlfriend and do some sightseeing but she wouldn’t want to because one outing is enough for a month. I’m just worried about how we’re going.”
“And you’re not telling her because..?”
“Because I’m fucking scared, Tal. What if I mess it up even more? You know the things that happened in the past. I’ve messed up how I wanted to word my thoughts and feelings which turned it into a bigger mess.”
Tal was unsure of how to respond. He gave her a pat on the shoulder before picking up the targets again.
“Come on, let’s go. I’m sure with time you’ll figure out how to explain the vibe.”

Sticky situations my dude pt 3
“we are here downtown in New York with my brother Mickey and Bea our best friend” Mason says as he smiles into the camera “Mom got stuck in meetings all day, so Bea is taking me and Mickey to play Pokemon Go” Mason moves his phone to show Mickey who was leaning on Beas shoulder while playing the game on his phone and Bea was scrolling her phone on some random social media.
Later on that day Bea was sitting in Ina’s Office across from her as they graded papers, it was very quiet and very awkward like a pin could drop kind of weird. Ina wanted to say something and it was eating her alive until it finally it comes out all at once “so are you with her to make me jealous or to hurt me” Bea’s head shoots up “i’m sorry, What did you say”. Ina laughs “I mean come on, you have to be with Sam to make me jealous or to hurt me” she younger girl sighs and puts the stack of papers that was on her lap in front of her on the table and looks at Ina “Have you ever stopped to think that Sam makes me happy? or that she treats me better, which she does!” her voice raised slightly “and the fact that she isn’t 1-2 hours late to every single thing or lets a women flirt with her openly in front of her but its A okay since she works with you” Bea laughs “I mean we were horrible together and it was the biggest one sided relationship ever” Ina frowns “I didn’t know you felt that way Bea” and Bea shrugs “i said it plenty but you never picked up on it” Bea stood up “I should go but the grades will be in” “I will win you back” Bea rolls her eyes “I really doubt that, there are kids involved now and i will not crush Mickey and Masons heart along with Sams”

A little bit of angst to keep the Ina fandom alive 🥺
Ina Kingsley x MC: I’m not needed, never will I be - Part 2

“Lillian?”
“How dare you walk away, why did you leave? How can you say you were bored?!”
Raven looks around and lets Lillian in to avoid waking up the neighbours.
“Come in.”
She sensed Lillian’s reluctance.
“Please.”
Raven sat Lillian down and offered some tea but decided to make it herself after her glare.
“What changed in you to say you were bored?”
Raven sighed.
“I lied.”
******A few months back******
“Ina, why can’t I come along?”
The older woman gave an amused look as Raven followed her around while she was packing her bag with a pout and her arms crossed.
“It’s only a week.”
“A week without you, Ina.”
Ina sighs and settles on the bed, she pats the space next to her so Raven can sit.
“Rae, we can video call and text, we’ll be fine.”
*****
Raven sulked to the airport, following Ina.
“Raven, I promise I will call when I land.”
Placing a kiss on Raven’s forehead, she held her. Raven took her time taking in Ina’s scent before letting her go and walking to the gate. She waved until Ina disappeared into the crowd before trudging her way home.
*****
Continuing with her usual daily routine, without Ina, she texted her.
Queen of my Heart
Ina: What are we having for dinner?
Raven: I can cook ;)
Raven: And clean
Ina: 👀
Raven: I miss you.
Raven: It doesn’t feel the same in the apartment when you’re not here.
Delivered 7:49 PM
Waiting for her reply, minutes turned into hours. She fell into a slumber, letting go. A vibration filled the room from the device, light blaring from the screen.
Queen of my Heart
Raven: I miss you.
Raven: It doesn’t feel the same in the apartment when you’re not here.
Read 10:30 PM
Ina: I know, I’m sorry. I’ll be back soon, Rae..
It was difficult for Raven to get up in the morning. Upon seeing Ina’s message, she felt at ease. She decided to visit Rudra and spend time at the gym so she doesn’t feel alone.
“Hey, Rud!”
“Raven! You’re here today, any problem?”
“Ina’s out on a work trip so I thought I can check up on you.”
“Jesse is in the office too, I just need to step out right now.”
The woman went to check up on her cousin, excited to spend time with her after they hadn’t had much time together.
“JESSE! OH MY GOD, I MISSED YOU! You doctors are so hard to catch for bonding time.”
“Well, Lillian and I have been spending quite a bit of time soooo”
“Ahhh, I see. I see heart eyes”, Raven smirked.
Jesse rolls her eyes and they began sorting out the office. Raven decided to fill the air with some casual talk to avoid the silence she already has at home.
“Where’s Ina? Aren’t you supposed to be clinging to her legs like the big baby koala you are?”
“I do not!-”
But Jesse silenced her with a single look.
“Okay, fine. Maybe I am-”
“Exactly.”
“So Jesse, I have a question. If you don’t mind?”
Jesse nods before giving Raven a curious look.
“How do you manage to have a strong relationship when you and Lillian spend much time apart? I’m surprised Charlotte is holding on considering how her mom is away from home often.”
Jesse puts away binders before she gives her full attention to Raven.
“Why do you ask?”
Raven shrugged and mumbled.
“Because why not, I’m just curious.”
Silence blanketed the room as Jesse observed Raven busying herself with papers.
“It’s communication and being vulnerable with each other. You inform the other person of how you’re feeling like they’re your diary.”
Raven thought for a moment before turning to the older woman. Giving a nod, they both continued to work in silence before Raven returned home.
“Ina, who is this?”
“Oh, it’s just a friend from the group. We’re meeting up for a reunion after a long time of not seeing each other.”
Ina kept on moving around.
“I’m glad you’re going out.”
“Thank you, Rae. I’ll be back.”
With Ina leaving, Raven can’t help but feel left out. Yet, she was still cheerful. As the night went on, she received pictures of them together with the last one of her friend giving her a peck on her cheek. Raven couldn’t help but feel hurt and jealous. She felt jealous of them being close in that way but hurt that they could be together since they are closer in age and established in their career paths.
Later that night, Raven tossed and turned. Unable to sleep with her racing thoughts. She read the time as 2:00 am and concerned for Ina, she decided to read her messages again.

Can you write a fic where Ina and Serena welcome a baby?
Tumblr media
Summary : Ina and Serena welcome a baby. Pairing : Ina x MC Genre : SFW ◌ Fluff Word Count : 1,2K Words. REQUESTS? [Y] MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
"Oh come on!” Serena huffed as she struggled to put the key in the front door.
"Serena, let me do it.” Ina reached out and placed her hand on Serena's shoulder. "No, I nearly got it. The younger blonde mumbled as the key scraped along the lock, almost fitting it into the hole.
"Little fucker," She growled as she missed the hole yet again.
“Serena! Ella can hear you!" Ina's eyes widened before she looked down at the car seat to see her daughter was fast asleep tucked up in the sea of blankets.
“She's fast asleep, Ina. She was out like a light the minute the car started moving." Serena glanced over her shoulder at the blonde.
"That doesn't mean she can't hear you.” Ina pouted, trying not to shiver at the passing breeze.
"Yeah well, I still can't believe you made me carry this all the way up seven flights of stairs in the hospital and you didn't even use it." Serena scoffed looking down at the birthing ball sitting between her legs before she finally got the key in the lock.
The younger’s back, arms and neck were covered in bags; Serena refused to let Ina carry anything but their daughter and Serena Hughes never did two trips to the car and back.
"Well, I told you to use the elevator." Ina rolled her eyes, swapping the car seat to her right arm.
“And I told you it was too packed each time." Serena huffed almost falling into the house. "Why did we even bring it home?"
She furrowed her brow as she booted the large ball Into the living room and then dropped each bag to the floor, thankful to have the weight removed from her shoulders.
"Well, you never know I might need it again," The blonde whispered, watching as Serena froze and suddenly she wondered if she had said the wrong thing.
"Huh, well we can always buy another one." She shrugged, taking the car seat from the anthropologist, a grin plastered on her face
"Why? We have a perfectly good one right here. Besides, I can use it as an exercise ball also." Ina giggled proudly, releasing the seat from her tight grip.
"Well, it stays in the guest bedroom," Serena said sternly as she placed the car seat on the kitchen counter before she carefully unbuckled the sleeping baby and pulled her out of the seat ensuring she didn't wake her up.
"Hi, baby girl." Serena could not fight off the grin on her face as she rested her child against her shoulder, one hand resting underneath her diaper padded bottom while the other removed the turquoise knitted hat.
"You have no idea how happy I am to be home. Three days in a hospital is far too long." The blonde chuckled, she wanted Ina to stay in the hospital for a few days.
"Would you like some coffee?" The blonde asked as she passed her lover, pecking her lips as the tips of her fingers patted down Eliana's wispy hair. "It's like you can read my mind."
Serena chuckled. "Is it safe to drink coffee? You know 'cause you're breastfeeding?" The younger woman furrowed her brows as she gently moved from side to side, rocking her daughter carefully.
"I spoke to Doctor Carter about it and she said it was okay but advised me to limit my caffeine intake to three cups a day." Ina shrugged as she grabbed two mugs from the cupboard.
"And this is cup number one." The anthropologist grinned and flicked on the coffee machine.
Serena grinned when she heard her daughter stir before curious hazel green eyes fluttered open.
"Welcome home peanut.” She readjusted the tiny body in her arms as when little eyes darted around the room, all wide-eyed before landing on Ina.
“Hello, my darling." Ina walked over to her two favourite people with a huge grin plastered on her face. "Yes, hi sweetheart."
Ina giggled when Eliana's cheeks puffed out and her small body wriggled at the sight of the blonde. "She sure knows who her mommy is." Serena watched Ina as she tickled the baby’s chin.
The tiny dark-haired baby smiled and made a gurgling sound before her tiny hand reached out and pulled at Ina’s low-neck top.
“Well, she is definitely your child" Ina laughed and removed the baby's hand.
"You like mommy's boobies, huh?" Serena used her baby voice as she bounced her daughter up and down. "Mommy will feed you in a minute darling.”
The older blonde grinned listening to Serena's baby voice, it honestly was as cute as her daughter and it made her heart swell with happiness.
"I'm just going to call your sister to let her know we’re home,"
"No, don't!" Ina shook her head. "Why?" Serena hesitated, eyeing her lover suspiciously.
"Because I told her to give us a few days to settle in before she came over. I'm surprised she didn't bombard us in the hospital.” Lilian was itching to meet her niece. “If you go over there, she's going to be rushing in here before I can say I told you so.”
"Fine." Serena rolled her eyes as she paid attention to the squirming baby in her arms. "I just really can’t wait until Charlotte can meet this beauty. We’re going to have so much fun!" She as she spun her daughter in the air gently.
"Serena, be careful she's not long been fe-" Ina's warning was cut off as the baby hurled on the younger’s right shoulder, the baby spit up running down her top as amused hazel eyes met blue ones.
"I don't even care!" Serena bellowed, holding the baby close on the clean shoulder.
"God, I'm so happy." The influencer grinned.
"Look at you being all cute and soft." Ina chuckled looking between her daughter and her ecstatic lover. "I love you."
Serena leaned over for a kiss. "Whoa there, you're covered in throw-up." Ina moved back slightly. "I don't care." Serena moved closer, backing Ina into the counter and caught the anthropologist's lips in a kiss.
"I love you too," She whispered looking deep into Serena's eyes until a gurgling sound pulled her attention to the baby in-between them. Eliana rested in her mama's arm, puke covering her little chin as she made bubbles with her tiny mouth.
"Look at you all messy." Ina put on a baby voice, the first one she'd ever done as she used Serena's dirty top to wipe her mouth.
"Woah, we have a baby," Serena whispered the reality of her life settling in. "We do." Ina smiled.
"We're growing up."
"Scary Isn't it? The doctor chuckled. "I never thought I'd get to be in a relationship and have a child, least of all with you."
The younger blonde shook her head in amazement. "Well, you are so no backsies." Ina giggled, resting her head on Serena's shoulder, ignoring the horrible smell.
"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." The blonde mumbled, her hand coming up to tickle her daughter's chubby little chin.
"And I'll know that when I marry you." The honey-blonde whispered nothing but sincerity and happiness in her voice at that moment.
She couldn’t explain the feeling she felt, but she knew she had truly been blessed with the best.

What’s more refreshing than a crisp autumn day in New England, where the leaves have matured into a beautiful honey-brown and a delightful breeze cruises the skies, especially on this sunny day.
What’s even more thrilling, for Sofia at least, is it’s the start of her college story, at none other than the private, posh, and oh so exotic Belvoire University. This school is nothing but a school playground for the entitled little princes and princesses of New York.
It’s a circus, really. The horror stories weigh heavier than the school’s prestige and accomplishments but who the heck cares? If it’s expensive, it’s got to be good.
Thankfully, Sofia isn’t of the norm. Growing up in a rural town in Kansas taught her that money isn’t everything, persistence and respect is, first and foremost. And if you’re going to go places “girlie, you better work your damn ass off” as her mother likes to put it, politely.
So, this should be a breeze. Fitting in with young adults who have worked not a minute in their lives, who have never been generous to donate even a small share of their inherited wealth to those that genuinely need it?
Yeah, it’ll be a breeze.
Or at least that’s what Sofia thought.
Map in hand, the young cowgirl set off to class in her red flannel shirt, the buttons revealing just enough of her cleavage underneath and her bootcut jeans, a style she never got tired of showing off.
It was surprisingly a short, precise route to her first period from the car park, prompting a smile to dawn on Sofia’s face before she suddenly noticed all the curious eyes, directly on her.
Dirt poor…
“Wait, they’re talking about me?” She internalized.
Stupid cowgirl…
“Hey! I’m not a-“
Horse shit…
The calloused fists of Sofia’s clenched tightly together, so much so the tips of her knuckles turned white. Her eyes scanned from figure to figure, as they all laughed and snarkily insulted her under their breath.
God, she just wanted to sort them straight. Who were they to judge her so quickly? She hadn’t even made any companions, and already her status was lowered, to the very, very bottom.
“Hey, hey you! Shit face!”
Chad, a 6’4, brute of a jock snapped around to meet Sofia’s furious gaze. “You talking to me, you horse turd?”
Oh was Sofia getting riled up.
“Yeah I’m talking to you, you walking hunk of junk.” Knowing Sofia, she never backed down from a fight. Never. If she learnt anything from the farm, it’s that the fittest survive and the weakest don’t.
The cowgirl shoved aside her backpack, and stormed towards Chad, her face full of fury and her fists ready to strike.
“You better watch your mouth little bit-“
BAM!
A sturdy body punch to the liver.
BAM BAM!
One feisty uppercut to the jaw which left Chad in a state of dizziness, before she knocked him unconscious with a powerful left hook.
A sea of phones whipped out immediately to capture the incident, definitely destined to make the school’s breaking news the same afternoon. “Holy shit dude, she knocked Chad out!”
Murmurs and shocked gasps came from the enormous wave of students, who flooded in to witness the scene. But only one girl led the pack, Poppy… Min… Sinclair.
“Ew, get out of my way, creep.” She pushed her way to the front and gasped dramatically at the sight of Chad face flat on the ground, with cowgirl Sofia just behind, who was pulling her back back on her shoulders.
“Ugh, excuse me? What the hell just happened?” Her high pitched tone caught Sofia’s attention, her blue eyes flicking up to meet Poppy’s own. “He got what he deserved, I don’t take nobody’s bullshit.” Her southern accent was thick like her mama’s buttermilk biscuits, the velvety tone that ensued, surprisingly, sent a shiver down Poppy’s spine.
“And who the hell are you..?” Poppy’s eyes raked across Sofia’s muscled figure, her throat choked for air the further her eyes reached.
“Sofia, Sofia Nassib.”
Poppy’s eyes flicked fearlessly to Sofia’s lips, as she slowly pressed closer, and closer, until she was just centimeters from Sofia’s bronzy face.
“You better not do anything stupid like that again, do you understand me?” Poppy’s sharply filed nails raked down, and up the cowgirl’s arm, instinctively drawing goosebumps on the girl as soon as her nails touched Sofia’s skin.
“I said, do you understand me?” She gripped Sofia’s collar and tugged her even closer, Sofia’s neck bending in the process to reach her small height. “Or what?”
A challenging, daunting game was yet to be played and neither wanted to back down for the seat of power.
“Well, he’s my boyfriend of course. I’ll handle you like I’ve handled every other bold little bitch whose stood in my way.”
Poppy never once stuttered, nor did she even hesitate to slash her nails across Sofia’s face to permanently remind her of the incident, and the trouble the cowgirl was yet to face.
“See you later Farmsville!”
———————————— 1 PM ———————————
Professor Kingsley, room 660… Sofia read off the blue transcript in her bruised and bloodied hand. She peeked up to the find the classroom door open, with the lights dimmed inside.
Peculiarly, Sofia looked around before entering the somewhat dark classroom, the lack of artificial light setting her in the mood for a well deserved nap.
She picked a seat in the middle row, a decent distance from the Professor Kingsley’s sleek desk which was just a few spaces ahead.
After settling in comfortably, she took in the awe inspecting decor of the classroom. Maps as large as dining tables filled the walls, marked to shit with photos and cute little captions to go along, as well as posters of Winston Churchill and FDR dancing together in sailor uniforms, in a silly political cartoon.
Sofia was so intrigued by it all that she failed to feel the warm palm that rested upon her forearm.
Ahem…
She quickly spun around to lay her eyes upon, who else than Professor (Mommy) Kingsley. The professor’s makeup exaggerated the shimmering light in her chestnut brown orbs, a sight that had Sofia fluttering inside. It didn’t stop when her eyes quickly glanced over the tight fitting, racing green pencil skirt and blazer that the professor had on, purposely to flaunt her muscled calfs and hips.
“I couldn’t help but notice the wound on your cheek, are you alright sweetheart?”
Goddamn, her voice sounded like pure honey…
Sofia quickly blinged out of the daze and touched her cheek, wincing at the pain as she felt fresh blood drip down her flesh. “Oh, yeah, I’m fine. Just a little incident this morning.” She put on her best smile, her dimple smile that she was renowned for.
“Honey you don’t look fine, oh come with me and don’t refuse.” Professor Kingsley had already set off before her student could answer, as she searched through her desk drawers frantically.
“Your classroom decor is incredible, by the way.” Sofia stated to break the silence, looking around again to avoid any further embarrassment.
“Why thank you darling, no one ever appreciates a historian’s passion for a well-decorated office and classroom. It just… brings everything to life, you know?”
She’s so cute when she rambles… said the little teeny voice inside her brain.
“I think you’ve done a fantastic job.” Sofia goofily smiled again, Professor Kingsley offering a broad grin back before placing a small cleansing kit in the cowgirl’s palm.
“It’s an anti-infecting wipe, soothing cream and a bandaid. I’ve got plenty so holler if you need some more for that wound.”
“By the way… what’s your name again?” Said Kingsley.
“Sofia Nassib, Ma’am. Nice to meet you.”
Professor Kingsley’s eyes crinkled slowly, grinning again, “likewise. Now off you go, go patch your cheek up darlin’. Don’t want that getting even worse now do we?”
“No Ma’am, we don’t.” Sofia, clutching the little packet made her way towards the door of the classroom before halting abruptly in the doorway.
“Well, well, well… lookie here.”
Not Poppy!!!

Sticky situations my dude pt 2
Ina was sitting at a local little spot she loved to come to where she wouldn’t be seen by any of her students, she had met up there with her sister Lilian “so what’s up you like never ask me to go out during the week” she asks as she took a sip of her drink turning to Ina. Ina pauses “Bea fucking Hughes is my problem” Lilian puts an eyebrow up “the girl you broke up before summer and all Ina could do is nod “yeah I just can’t get her ott it of my head it’s annoying and now she’s dating some-“
Ina gets cut off when she sees her, public enemy number one! Samantha Dalton, she looked amazing and flawless like she hadn’t just walked out of a heat storm of New York , her hair was perfect and her outfit looked like it was straight of the runways, which made sense since she was the CEO of a huge corporation. Sam didn’t seem to notice or even acknowledge Ina as she walked up to the bar and ordered two drinks “ms dalton good to see you” she smiled at ‘god even her smile is perfect’ she thought to herself as she picked her apart in her mind “it’s good to see you too Tony” Sam replied as she grabbed the drinks from him and left him a fat tip “is that her?” Lilian asked her in awe and all ina could was nod and frown at her “ugh just forget it” as she downed her drink and in her hand and orders another Lilian laughs “get it!” And ina just giggles and smiles “forget all this I’m not jealous I mean I broke up with her for a reason!” She chanted before it all came crashing down when she heard her voice as she laughed with Sam and her friends….this was going to be a long semester….

I rushed it but I hope you like it! I wanted to start writing a different series. Yes, I know. I haven’t finished the other one but I will continue once I get this idea on paper. (This does not affect the other stories, think of it as an alternate universe or something-) It’s pretty short for now. It mentions some characters from previous fics. I will most likely edit this in the future or..leave this as a standalone because I love being mean-
“Why, Raven?”
A teary-eyed Ina stood in the doorway, confused and hurt seeing Raven pack up her bags.
Raven struggles not to comfort or cry and continues packing without looking at her.
“I think we’re not compatible. I want to look for different people.”
“What happened? What did I do?”
When Raven didn’t respond, Ina grabbed her wrist to bring her face to face but Raven avoided her eyes.
“You owe me that.”
“I’m telling you, I don’t feel that we’re compatible.”
Ina wasn’t satisfied with her answer as she turns back to packing.
“We’ve been together for 2 years. What’s with all this? Did I do something?”
Raven didn’t know how to get Ina off of her back, her next words burned into Ina’s heart.
“I want to live my life, find someone else. I got bored.”
Ina lets go of Raven, taking a step back from her.
“I see. Well, I don’t want to hold you back.”
Ina walked out of the room, slamming the door with frustration causing Raven to flinch.
Raven’s eyes were brimming with tears but she refused to let them fall.
It’s better this way.
********
As time passed, Raven received many phone calls, texts, and harsh voicemails about the way Raven broke up with Ina. Most specifically, an angry Aunty A, furious Jesse, Tal and Callie waiting for answers. She didn’t answer but she didn't ignore it either. She deserved it but thought it was better to distance herself than to hurt others more.
I can’t miss her, I left her.
It’s not my place.
********
Ina traced the edges of the Wardin heirloom resting on her neck.
*Flashback*
She retrieved the jewelry box and brought it back to Ina, letting Ina lean onto her. Raven gestured for Ina to open it causing her to gasp lightly. The silver necklace with a locket that had “Wardin” engraved into it.
“Raven, it’s beautiful…”
“It was passed down in my family, the last one to wear it was my mother. She gave it to me before she passed. She wanted me to give this to the person I love. I haven’t let people in for years and it feels nice that I let you in. I can be myself around you and you make me feel safe. I trust you and I haven’t trusted anyone, but my guardians, since my mother died.”
Ina held back tears when she looked at Raven, who looked back at her with so much love filled in her eyes. She turned her attention to the necklace, gently running her finger across the name.
*End of Flashback*
Lillian steps into the room, sighing as she sees Ina staring at the necklace. She lets out a sob as she spots Lillian through the mirror, letting her be held as she let out the pain from the memory.
“She wants to see other people and she got bored with me.”
Lillian was furious, she never expected that to come from Raven.
She inquired about Raven’s whereabouts, she ended up at Tal’s place where Raven was temporarily staying.
“Lillian?”
“How dare you walk away, why did you leave? How can you say you were bored?!”
Raven looks around and lets Lillian in to avoid waking up the neighbours.
“Come in.”
She sensed Lillian’s reluctance.
“Please.”
Raven sat Lillian down and offered some tea but decided to make it for herself after her glare.
“What changed in you to say you were bored?”
Raven sighed.
“I lied.”

1. Article: Introduction
Paring: Bea / Ina Warning: nerd. Big head nerdy writing Description: part 1 of The article series. It is very nerdy and it does evolve around a scientific article, so it may be boring as f*. =) This is the introduction to it, so it is a little stiff, it gets better by the end of it. Bear with me, will you? It is a spin inside the first book, Ina is still resisting and Bea recently turned her TA. Word count: 857 That was it. Bea was not having any of Ina slow burn hot/cold attitude anymore. She had a plan. Considering the academic mystic of Ina, the professor wouldn’t deny a well written and well proven article: she would beat Ina in her own game. She picked her most “I have an article to present” outfit of her wardrobe: a nice straight jeans, with a cute blouse and a black blazer. And she walked to Ina’s office for her daily TA routine. Before entering, Bea took a steading breath  • Game on• After weeks planning it, it needed to be perfect. “Excuse me, Professor Kingsley” Ina raised a brow to the unusual formality and couldn’t help but to stare at the serious outfit. “ Well, hello to you too, Ms. Hughes. May I ask what is going on?” Cheeks flustered to be already caught in her act, Bea said dismissively, while handling Ina her coffee. “Nothing much. I just would like to speak with you after we finish marking”. Bea said dismissively “Uhm. If you say so. Thank you for the coffee” – after hours of essays, Ina finally spoke up: “ OK, I think we have already make a good enough dent in the pile. What is that you want to present me?” Ina asked curiously “ Well, actually I have an article of personal interest that I want to run by you” “ Oh, are you starting to warm up to the academic route?” Ina asked with a satisfied grin. “ oh, God, no! I will leave that to you.” Bea shook her head and approached the professor desk. “Honestly, I have tried to get through you from all the usual ways: and you still don’t get it. So I’ve decided to make it easier for you by presenting it in your language: an article” Ina took out her glasses with a small side smile: “ uhmm. And what, may I ask, is your hypothesis?” Ina leaned in her chair with an amused glance “ Not an hypothesis when I am done with it. I will prove it to you that you both want and can be with me”. Bea said with a wink leaving a dumbfounded Ina behind. *-*-* Ina was in her living room, frowning over the abstract of Bea’s article. Yes, she knew that she should have dismissed it in the first moment and kept things professional, but she was too entertained and curious to let this pass. “ Therefore, It is statistically proven that exhibit A is emotionally, sexually and mentally attracted by the index case.” Ina laughed “ I suppose that I am ‘exhibit A’ now. I wonder how is she going to do the stats in this” The professor already knew that she was interested in Bea. She though the younger woman brilliant, funny, sexy and gorgeous - but she was her teacher and it was a deal breaker. •maybe when she graduates..• “Nowadays, after the sex and love revolution of 1960 expanding the limits to courting, still the academisism resists the old idea of separation between the faculty and their students. The single ideia of a power bias of a relationship, where the power-holder (professor) would be able to coerse a fragile and lower class (student) is out of date. Considering the college students already above eighteen, in full mental capability and development, legal adults and responsible for there acts, the whole idea of them as the fragile half of the relationship doesn’t stand. ” It was beautifully written, clearly Bea has putted a lot of hours and effort in this. Unfortunately it wouldn’t change anything within their reality. “In the vanguard of the movement we have Belvoire University, where its own Code of Conduct for Faculty and Alumns doesn’t stabilish any limits or restrictions about students vs professors relationship: but the faculty members still have the old fashioned conduct of restraining themselves…” •What? How did she get the Faculty Code of Conduct? And there is nothing there about that? Of course there must be.• “When we think over the ethical and moral optics, it becomes even clearer that this restrictions must vanished. If any relationship is based in coercion and abuse, it is non'etical and harassment. That is true for any relationship, between straight, LGBT, same age, older and younger, biracial, whatever difference that is between the couple: thus, it also apply to the student x professor logic. Therefore if there is respect and mutual interest, why it would be any different from any other couple?” By the end Ina was flowing over the young student logic. Yes, he was an adult for every legal capacities. She was 22, mentally capabl…“ This is a dangerous line of though…”

Sticky situations my dude! BeaxInaxSam
Bea has had such a shitty year in New York so once summer hits and she is free the whole summer she decides to get a nanny job for a successful women, whoops she catches feelings for her and after a summer of having an afair with her (turns out she was engaged) she now has to face Ina after she had ended with her.
Summer was way to fast and crazy for Beas opinion but here she was back at school for the fall semester and back in the dorms with Zoey, not that she was complaining she missed Zoey more than she knew.
One person she was less than thrilled to see was Ina, she had crushed her heart before summer by completely ending things between them, but now she had Sam and she was so excited! Sam wasn’t scared to take her out on dates and stuff like that and now that Sofia wasn’t in the way who knew the world was possible.
Bea stood in line at her favorite coffee place and waited when suddenly she hears a voice next to her “Hello ms.hughes” Ina says, her voice soft and almost full on energy. Bea looks over “Hey, I’m still down to be your Ta if you want” Ina nods “yes I would love that, I was wondering later if you could come by my office later” Bea ponders, was this a good idea probably not but has she made any good idea since she has come to this god awful school…No “Yeah, sure I’ll be there around 6, but I can’t stay long I have to go to my baby sitting job” she could almost hear the venom behind her voice “oh yeah I heard all about your new job and the perks that came with the boss” Ina flashes a magazine cover that had herself and Sam walking from a small restaurant they had gone too “you moved on so quickly…”
Bea turns to look at her fully “you don’t get to choose how I fixed what you broke, you threw my heart out and killed me, I cried for weeks but Sam was there for me and can be with me, all of me not some college hook up in your office…I’m sorry but I don’t know if I can keep doing it, I’ll see you tonight” Bea walks away from Ina with her head down…so much for coffee.
As Bea walked away ina felt her heart beak, not matter what she was going to get her back in her life…one way or another!

The Risk Of You
To start, this is a little different from my usual fics. Requested by @honestlymaximumblizzard, this is Ina Kingsley x Rowan Osbourne, the Apoidea Society President. It was a great idea honestly and I wrote this fic for the... unusual pairing. Side note, I did not romance the professor at all so let me know if this was out of character cause I only know Ina from screenshots.
This takes place during "Take Me To the Heart Fair" when Bea meets Ina in Quebec City, told from Ina's perspective. Be warned, in my AU's, Ina has some unresolved feelings left towards Bea and they are addressed in this story. Even if I didn't have plans to originally address this, the professor deserves a happy ending in my world too.🤷‍♀️Please enjoy!
Masterlist
----------------------------------------------------
“It is a pleasure to meet you Dr. Kingsley. I’m a big fan of your work.” A woman said, shaking Ina’s hand in a firm grip as she returned the gesture. Standing amongst the crowd, Ina felt all eyes on her, taking a deep breath as she chatted politely with scholars and anthropologists.
“Your recent study on the students of Belvoire was a spectacular piece. In truth, it displayed such vivid insight on the minds of the elite.” The woman complimented as Ina nodded politely.
“Yes, it was a challenge to discuss, but my source material was all around me. Possibly one of my best achievements.”
“Well, you’re presenting your thesis tomorrow, correct? I will be sure to attend the conference.” Ina nodded again, taking a sip from her champagne glass as the woman rambled on.
She never did enjoy these conferences. Even during her early days as a professor at Belvoire, Ina was always hesitant to attend any sort of gathering of scholars. In truth, she didn’t believe she was any better, even when they would all exclaim praise or admiration. Her insights into the minds of the elite presented Ina with many scholarly awards, but… they all felt hollow.
She had dedicated her life to this work. The work of presenting a deeper discussion within the anthropology world, but she was presented with awards and medals instead of actual change. In truth, it was all pointless by the end of it.
Ina excused herself from the conversation, walking away from the crowd and stopping near the bar. She could hear every conversation that floated around the room, each one filled with topics that these people didn’t care about. They only cared whether it would make them seem smarter or more dedicated to the field.
“I’ll have another glass.” Ina told the bartender who slid her another flute of champagne. She took it, turning around to lean against the bar as she sighed to herself.
With all of Ina’s study into the field of Anthropology, she wasn’t the… best social talker. She could go for short periods of time, but often, she reveled in the silence of a room.
The thought took her back to Belvoire. The people she met and the times where Ina didn’t feel so alone when she was teaching within a classroom. It had been sometime since Ina had full control like that. With her new promotion, she felt like she was attending more meetings than classroom discussions.
Since her promotion, she had no need for a TA either, but… Ina hadn’t had a TA in many years. Almost ten to be exact. Her last TA, Bea Hughes… didn’t end well. The thought led Ina back to a road she had taken millions of times before.
A rather shameful act for a professor of her standing; she would be lying if she said she hadn’t developed feelings for her former student. Bea was an amazing woman and Ina enjoyed spending time with her. So much that her feelings had won over every thought when it came to the brunette.
That one night where she could have messed everything up, Bea promptly ended anything that could have been. Ina wasn’t sure why, but it was for the best.
Though, she hadn’t even considered dating since Bea had graduated from Belvoire. It wasn’t because of the brunette, but more because of… the way it all had ended. Ina never felt a spark with any other woman, leading to her focus on her career and a dip in her personal life.
Even her sister had begun scouting out dates for Ina to go on. She rejected each one, knowing she didn’t need her sister to set her up with a random woman. Ina had more class than that.
So when the opportunity to escape from the country came, Ina took the speech in Quebec City, knowing it would be a good break for her.
It had been some time since her last travels and she was excited to explore the city a little more. She would have to catch an early bus to even think about seeing the sights, which meant Ina would have to-
A hand was soon placed on Ina’s arm, causing her to snap out of her thoughts as the woman she had been talking to previously, reappeared.
“Ina, I’m sorry to disturb you, but I wanted to introduce you to someone.” She grabbed Ina’s arm, pulling her into the crowd like Ina was a teenager at a boy band concert as they stopped in front of a large crowd.
Ina smoothed down the red dress she wore, just as the woman called to the crowd. “Rowan, I’d like you to meet Dr. Ina Kingsley. She wrote the incredible thesis you read a few months ago.” The woman said as the crowd murmured in applause, parting like the sea and revealing an older woman with faded blonde hair.
Ina gulped, feeling the crowd’s eyes on her as the woman in front raised a sharp brow. From the purple power suit she wore, she looked like someone important, hair cut stylishly around her shoulders as she held a glass of bourbon.
She was probably one of the most gorgeous women that Ina had ever seen as she took a step forward, the crowd moving away as the woman approached.
From up closer, she towered over Ina, her smile charming as she reached out her manicured hand. “Rowan Osbourne. I’ve heard great things about you, Dr. Kingsley.” The woman smiled and it sent a flutter towards Ina’s stomach.
Ina cleared her throat, gently pushing her raven hair off of her shoulder as she returned Rowan’s smile. “Please, call me Ina. Are you new to the anthropology world, Ms. Osbourne?”
“Oh no, I have little interest in anthropology. I’m here to support one of my members.” Rowan smiled, gesturing at a younger woman who waved politely.
“One of your members?” Ina asked as she looked at the crowd who let their jaws hang at Ina’s statement.
Rowan raised a sharp brow, as if sizing Ina up who subtly shrunk under her gaze. “Yes, one of my Apoidea members.” She said casually as Ina’s eyes widened.
The Apoidea Society. That intense set of performances that several of her students had gone through, specifically, the one that Bea Hughes had-
“My apologizes, Ms. Osbourne, I must have mistaken you for-”
“Please, don’t apologize, It is… interesting to find someone who doesn’t recognize me on sight.” Rowan smiled, tilting her glass of bourbon as Ina held her flute of champagne.
“Mrs. Clarke was correct. I thoroughly enjoyed your thesis, though I do have some questions about some of your comments.” Rowan smiled as Ina felt herself blush. She never enjoyed speaking about her thesis in detail. Many critics of the anthropology world were only trying to pick her brain, but Rowan…
“I would be honored to answer any questions you have.” Ina replied as Rowan smiled, eyes narrowing gently as she nodded. The look sent a shiver down Ina’s spin as Rowan took a step back.
“Perhaps over dinner? I’m staying at the Auberge Saint-Antoine.” She handed Ina a business card as she took it slowly. “Call my number and we can arrange a time and place.” She said as she began to walk away, leaving Ina standing with her business card.
Rowan threw one last glance over her shoulder, smiling subtly at Ina who looked up to catch the older woman’s gaze. “It was a pleasure to meet you, doctor.”
With that, Rowan walked away, some of the crowd following her as Ina turned the card over in her hands.
She… she had no idea how to explain what just happened. The feeling she felt when Rowan looked at her, well, it had been a long time since Ina had felt like that.
Holding the card a little tighter, Ina kept it close by, all the way to her hotel room as she soon sat on the couch with a glass of wine.
She was acting like a schoolgirl with a crush. She was forty-two years old for crying out loud. Her raven black hair was already showing signs of white and she had begun to wear her glasses more frequently. Ina could not act like this was some little crush.
Rowan, a gorgeous woman, was probably married. Married with children no doubt. Ina took her phone out, pulling up safari as she typed in the woman’s name.
She scrolled for a bit, feeling a little creepy, but continuing as she learned… quite a bit about the Apoidea Society president.
Rowan had been married once, no children, and divorced about five years later. Other than that, the woman had little going on in her personal life, at least… nothing that she was sharing with the world.
Ina set her phone down once her search was complete, reclaiming the discarded business card as she reached for the hotel’s phone. She slowly dialed the numbers, tapping her foot anxiously before hearing a voice from the other line. A man’s voice.
“You’ve reached Rowan Osbourne’s phone. How can I help you?” The man asked as Ina gulped, her nails tangling in the phone cord as she cleared her throat.
“Hello, my name is Ina Kingsley and I was… told to call to make a… dinner reservation?”
The line went quiet, before Ina heard a familiar tone on the line. “Dr. Kingsley? Calling so soon?” Rowan asked through the phone as Ina blushed. Luckily, the woman couldn't see her as Ina nodded to herself.
“I’m only in Quebec city for as long as the conference so I thought it would be best to make plans early.” Ina said as Rowan laughed through the phone. It was a deep chuckle which Ina liked more than she would admit. Again with the stupid school girl crushing.
“You are sure to keep me intrigued, Doctor. Will tomorrow night work for you? At Le Continental?” She asked as Ina’s brain kicked into gear.
That was one of the most expensive restaurants in the city! And the way Rowan had said it felt like she knew French well based on her perfect pronunciation.
“Of course, I’ll see you there.” Ina said quickly.
“I’ll be waiting Doctor. Have a good night.” Rowan said before the line went quiet, leaving Ina alone with her thoughts.
She placed her phone on the table, glaring at it before she looked at her wine glass that sat to the side. She needed something stronger than that.
Slipping on her blazer, Ina went downstairs, exiting the hotel and finding a small bar close by. She entered, brushing off her outfit as she walked up to the bartender who gestured for her to take a seat further down. Ina followed, walking further down before she paused, hearing a familiar voice that… Ina probably shouldn't have recognized as well as she had.
“Leave the bottle.” The voice said as Ina turned around, staring at the back of the one and only Bea Hughes.
Ina’s heart stammered, her eyes trying to get a better look to see if it was actually Bea as the woman tilted her head back. She was wearing a simple white dress shirt, the fabric thin enough to see the dark definition of tattoos as Ina gasped to herself.
It was definitely Bea and Ina was… too stunned to even speak.
Bea was hunched over the bar top, glancing sadly at her phone as Ina just stared at her. She was still impossibly tall and even without seeing her face, Ina could tell it was Bea. She had the same orange tanned skin, short brown hair with dozens of highlights, and probably had her slanted round brown eyes. She was probably just as gorgeous as ever as Ina cleared her throat, steeling her nerves as she spoke.
“Rough night?” She asked from behind Bea who turned instantly.
Bea’s eyes lit up with recognition, smiling with perfectly straight teeth as she gestured for Ina to walk closer. She did, smelling the same cologne Bea had worn since college as Ina smiled.
It was… nice to see someone so familiar. Bea hadn’t changed much, her hair shorter now and another tattoo added to her left forearm, but other than that, she looked the same.
Bea went on to talk, telling Ina things that Ina wasn’t exactly following. She was too focused on how Bea looked, how she smelled, and how… awful Ina felt when she was rejected by the girl all those years ago. She didn’t expect it to hit her as hard as it did, but seeing the girl so many years later, the lingering feeling of bitterness remained as she took a sip from the glass that Bea had bought her.
“What have you been up to?” Ina asked, expecting Bea to say something small, like she was an artist now or something. Instead, Ina watched as Bea’s face took on a dreamy demeanor, smiling as she glanced at her hands.
Ina did too, stomach dropping as she heard those words she didn’t know she had been dreading. “Well, I’m married now.”
The reaction wasn’t unexpected, but it wasn’t unwelcomed either. It… it was something that Ina might have needed, till she heard the name Bea uttered.
“Poppy Min-Sinclair?” Ina choked on her glass as Bea handed her a few napkins. She took them, dabbing at her lips as she thought how in the hell Bea Hughes could have ended up with the Evil Queen of Belvoire.
Though, Ina remembered her years at Belvoire when she taught Poppy and Bea. Even though they were publicly declared as enemies, Ina could remember walking down the halls and seeing the two sneak into classrooms. She never peaked, but Bea would head into Ina’s office soon after, a wide smile on her face and sometimes a hickey on her neck. At the time, it made Ina jealous to see Bea with someone else, but now, Ina only thought back at the memory.
Bea showed Ina her phone screen, a picture of Poppy who still looked just as gorgeous. Ina had remembered seeing something about Poppy in the news awhile ago, but Ina never followed the business channels and outlets. She found them all too depressing, but she had heard something about Poppy’s successful fashion company and her no longer single status years ago.
On the screen, a gorgeous little girl sat in Poppy’s lap. She had Poppy’s eyes, her smile, but Ina could tell she had a lot of Bea too.
“She’s beautiful.” Ina said as she drank from her glass again.
The conversation went on, speaking about Bea’s relationship with Poppy and soon about Ina’s previous travels.
Through it all, Ina believed she would have a lingering taste of disappointment or even jealousy at the fact that Bea was taken, but instead, Ina enjoyed just laughing and chatting with her former student.
Perhaps Ina's feelings for Bea had begun to subside as the conversation went on. Sure, they never had a proper ending or at least, an ending that Ina felt was conclusive, but as they spoke, Ina felt herself grow more comfortable. Not the type of comfortable associated with a growing romantic relationship, but the one formed in platonic settings.
“Oh, I’ve got to take this, but it was great seeing you again!” Bea said as she slid a twenty onto the bar top. “We should catch up back in New York.” Bea said as she waved goodbye, probably instantly taking the call from her wife as Ina gently ran her finger around the rim of her glass.
Somehow, Ina was glad she had decided to get a drink at this bar. She was glad she had called Rowan. Causing her nerves to be all jumbled, because magically, Ina felt… okay.
So much was left unresolved to her, even though Bea had clearly felt it was all resolved, Ina never had. She never had the courage during Belvoire either, but now, speaking with Bea so freely with no strings or feelings involved, Ina felt like she could move on somehow.
It was crazy how quickly things could change in a night.
---------------------------------------------------
Ina took a seat at the table as the waiter set a menu in front of her.
As expected, the restaurant was expensive, fancy, and very french. Ina glanced around cautiously, waiting for Rowan Osbourne to appear as she flipped open the menu.
The prices were definitely above her pay grade as Ina quickly shut the menu, just as the waiter reapproached her table. Standing in a white blazer, Rowan smiled brightly, golden hair swaying around her shoulders as she greeted Ina.
“Dr. Kingsley, that is a stunning dress.” Rowan smiled, reaching and shaking Ina’s hand. Just that touch sent a shiver down Ina’s spine as she smiled politely.
“It’s good to see you again Ms. Osbourne.” Ina said as Rowan raised a manicured brow.
“Please, we’re past formalities now. Call me Rowan.”
“Well, please call me Ina then.”
“But Doctor suits you so well.” Rowan smirked, flipping open her menu as a waiter stood by the side. The comment sent heat to Ina’s cheeks as she ducked her head lower. Rowan began to order, a perfect string of French as Ina tried to keep up, but her knowledge on the language was severely lacking.
When the waiter left with their order, Rowan turned back to Ina, smiling as she looked Ina up and down like a lion staring at her prey.
“So, tell me Ina, what inspired your thesis?” Rowan asked as Ina cleared her throat. Right, they were here to discuss her thesis. Nothing more.
“Well, the culture surrounding Belvoire University is one that most people are unaware of. The system within Belvoire specifically elicits the mindset of the students so-”
“I don’t believe I asked for the textbook version.” Rowan smiled, leaning back in her chair as she gave Ina a careful glance.
“What inspired your thesis based on personal reasons? Surely, there were other topics besides the mindset of the elite.”
Ina clenched her fists under the table, looking down at her empty plate as the waiter came back, displaying an expensive bottle of wine. He poured them each a glance before leaving. Rowan took a sip, the dark red wine a contrast against her peach colored skin that only displayed slight signs of age.
“My… thesis was inspired by a former student of mine.” Ina admitted as Rowan raised a sharp brow. “You may know of her, she… was the only contestant to ever reject the Apoidea membership.”
Rowan sat up, peering curiously at Ina who didn’t look at the beautiful woman. “Bea Hughes was a student of yours? That girl certainly had a different mindset compared to the ones discussed in your paper.”
“Yes, she was the reason I… I wrote the thesis, to discuss how the culture of Belvoire was influential, but only a few could actually evade the influence. Bea Hughes appeared to be one of them.”
“And this… former student, you had feelings for her?” Rowan asked as Ina gawked at the woman, before violently shaking her head.
“Of course not! She was a student and I-”
“Ina, I’ve read your paper. You speak highly of her, more than a professor would for a mere student.”
Ina paused, thinking back to the other night when she saw Bea again. The feelings were still there, but as the conversation went on, the feelings faded as well.
“...I did have feelings for her, but I saw her the other day and she’s married now. She’s happy and I… I’m happy for her.”
Rowan smiled, tapping her long nails against the cloth as she looked at Ina. “It’s brave of you to admit that Ina. Tell me, how long have you harbored feelings for this girl?”
Ina shook her head, taking a sip from her glass as she peered at Rowan curiously. “Perhaps too long, but I think I’m ready to move past my previous feelings and… focus on the now.”
“Then tell me this, what do you consider now?”
Ina looked down at Rowan’s hand, feeling her blush return before settling on the woman’s eyes. “Discussing my thesis of course.” Ina smiled, as Rowan bit her lower lip, sliding back as she reclaimed her wine glass.
She lifted it, as Ina did the same. “To focusing on the now.”
“To focusing on the now.” Ina repeated, taking a drink as the two women eyed each other.
Ina felt the familiar flutter in her stomach, the blush returning to her cheeks as she conversed with Rowan. The woman was brilliant, obviously gorgeous, and seemingly interested in Ina.
It had been awhile since Ina would actually return the interest, but it felt natural with Rowan. So natural that Ina hoped, maybe just for a little while, the two could continue exploring their attraction.
---------------------------------------------------
It had been a month since their dinner date in Quebec city, followed by Ina’s conference, and a flight back to New York city.
In that month, Ina hadn’t received a single call from freaking Rowan Osbourne.
Everyone in her department could tell something was amiss, they all treaded carefully whenever they passed Ina’s office. Ina would be lying if she said she didn’t feel a little silly to be pining like this.
After all, Ina could easily reach out, but when Rowan had ended the dinner, she held onto Ina’s hand a little too long, promising that they should have dinner once again.
Ina had based every thought and fantasy around those simple words and it was likely going to end up nowhere.
Ina set her glasses on her desk, rubbing her features as she glanced at the stack of papers by her side. It was going to take all night to grade and she was already exhausted after all of her previous meetings.
Taking the top one, Ina flipped through it. Her mistake for assigning twenty page papers from every student.
She reclaimed her glasses, placing them on her nose as she began to read, before hearing a small knock come from her door.
“Please come in.” She said subconsciously, expecting a student or even a fellow teacher, but seeing someone completely unexpected.
Standing against the frame with a silk white blouse and a stark black tie around her collar, Rowan stood with a small bouquet of flowers. Even though the act warranted an air of timidness, Rowan only looked confident, standing casually as she glanced at Ina who had dropped her papers.
“Is this a bad time doctor?” Rowan asked, entering the office as she walked with a powerful strut. She approached Ina’s desk, setting the flower carefully to the side as Ina looked up at the woman. “You looked shocked to see me?”
Rowan asked, leaning even closer as Ina gulped, pushing her chair back as she looked at the blonde. “I am shocked. It’s been a month since…” She stopped mid-sentence as Rowan tsked, taking a seat in one of the chairs in front of Ina’s desk.
“Yes, I apologize about that. I had several meetings with fellow members and I just couldn’t get away. I… I did intend to call.” Rowan admitted as Ina raised a sharp brow. Was this a game to her? To not call for a whole month and expect Ina to bend at will whenever she did call?
“I don’t know what game you’re trying to play here, Ms. Osbourne, but I study humans for a living. I’m not interested in… whatever you have to offer.” Ina said as she watched Rowan’s carefree demeanor slowly shift to one of concern.
She sat up more straight, looking at Ina who’s expression didn’t crack. “I apologize if I seem… nonchalant about this. It’s just been so long since I’ve-” She cleared her throat, glancing at her flowers as Ina followed her gaze. They were gorgeous lilies as Ina felt her heart quicken at the gesture.
“I’d like to take you on a date, Ina.” Rowan admitted. “An honest date where we can get to know each other. I would have called sooner, but in truth, I was rather nervous.” Rowan smiled as she stood from her chair, approaching Ina’s desk and taking a seat on the top. She glanced down at Ina who did all she could not to furiously blush at the woman’s admittance.
“You are an extraordinary woman and I must say, I feel intimidated just by talking with you.”
“Me? You’re the president of a secret society. I should be intimidated.”
“But you aren’t. It was apparent at our last dinner conversation. You spoke to me like I was just someone interested in your thesis.”
“I had hoped you were interested in my thesis.” Ina added as Rowan laughed, the deep chuckle that Ina enjoyed hearing.
“I would wager I’m more interested in the doctor of said thesis, than the work itself.” Rowan leaned even closer, a few inches away from Ina as Ina could easily smell her Joy Dior perfume. The scent lured her in as Ina blinked slowly up at the blonde.
“So, Dr. Kingsley, may I take you to dinner?”
Staring into Rowan’s blue eyes, Ina felt herself drawn by the woman.
For so many nights, months, and years, she had harbored feelings for a certain brunette who would never return her feelings. The thought had always left Ina a little disappointed, sad of the unrequited love story she had built for herself, but here was Rowan Osbourne.
Rowan Osbourne who had the city of New York wrapped around her finger once upon a time. Rowan Osbourne who was sitting in Ina’s office asking her on a date as if they were two regular people.
Months ago, the thought would have baffled Ina, but her sister had always mentioned how Ina failed to take risks when the risks were worth taking. She made the mistake before; she had made the mistake many times actually.
“...I would love to have dinner with you.” Ina smiled up at the woman who returned it.
If Rowan Osbourne was a risk, Ina would gladly take it.

Ina Kingsley x MC: You Are The Reason
Summary: Raven doesn’t feel well and has doubts fill her mind, she takes it out on Ina.
Warnings: MAJOR ANGST, negative thoughts, swearing, maybe a sprinkle of fluff, hurt Ina and Raven

Author’s Notes: I have been so busy but I’ve got some time to write! I rushed it but I hope you like it! This fic was inspired by ‘You Are The Reason’ by Calum Scott. It’s pretty short and I just spewed out some words, I don’t even know if it makes sense.
Deadlines, events, responsibilities, pressure, etc. All of these things creep into Raven’s mind, she tried her best to keep things under control.
“Breathe, Raven.”
No matter the amount of reassuring her partner or her friends gave her, Raven could not shake off the suffocating feeling. She felt more stressed and was easily angered. She tried to control and organize everything but it was useless. She refused to rest and consider “bad days”. Revane felt undeserving of a break, numerous thoughts filling her mind. Some of those thoughts made her doubt if she was ready to continue being in a relationship.
And there goes my mind racing
And you are the reason
That I'm still breathing
Getting ready for bed, she approached a resting Ina. She wanted to give her cuddles and kisses but with each step closer, she thought against it.
“Best not to bother her. She should get some sleep.”
She got into bed and turned away from Ina instead of her usual cuddles. Holding back tears, she wondered what life would be like if she didn’t exist, probably peaceful.
“If I just leave, things would be better, more pleasant, Ina could have a better partner. Someone to put in the effort to spend time with her and be present.”
For the next few days, Raven was very snappy. She was avoiding Ina when she can. Poor Ina, she didn’t realize why Raven was acting that way, wondering what she did wrong.
“Raven.”
“Hm.”
“Raven!”
“Yes?”
“Please talk to me, what’s wrong?”
Raven was so glad she wasn’t facing Ina. It was getting difficult and frustrating to hold in her tears.
“Ina, can we talk later? I have to finish this project.”
“Please.”
Raven felt as if a knife was plunged into her heart when she heard the crack in Ina’s voice. She couldn’t handle it and she fell from her chair to her knees, sobbing and struggling to breathe.
I don't wanna fight no more
I don't wanna hide no more
I don't wanna cry no more
“I can’t do it anymore, Ina. I know you say to be kinder to myself and we both know that’s not easy but I haven’t received this whole love and affection. My cousins, my aunt, and uncle have been kind and cared for me but I grew up with the rule of not asking others for anything.”
Ina was unsure of how to comfort her, not wanting to upset her more.
“I only give, I don’t want to accept. I’m not used to asking for things. I want to be loved but I have this voice in my head that tells me I don’t deserve it. I closed myself off to avoid being hurt and I don’t know what else to do. I just want to disappear, remove my existence. It’ll make things easier. I’m too hard to love. I have to do work without taking breaks because I feel more useless than I already am. Most of all, you deserve someone who would make time for you. You’ll get sick of me treating you like this. You need to leave and find someone else who is considerate of your feelings. Someone willing to get better instead of being stubborn to be broken.”
Raven was cracking her knuckles against her leg and hitting it before Ina intervened, holding Raven close.
Come back I need you to hold me
“You’re not hard to love. Let me love you, Raven.”
Raven sniffles, crying into Ina’s shirt. Ina held Raven tight, moving her hand through her hair in a soothing motion that calms her down.
Be a little closer now
Just a little closer now
Come a little closer
I need you to hold me tonight
“I’m sorry.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. I need you to know that I care and I want to help. Tell me if you’re not feeling well, if you want me to do something, I’m always here. You can take your time with everything, things like this don’t happen overnight. I love you.”
They sat there for a while, taking in each others’ presence. Pushing through all the negative thoughts that made her doubt her self-worth, being a better partner, and all the stress of whether she can continue working, came a light of hope. Her Ina.
“You are my reason, my light of hope.”
Ina sucked in a breath, Raven didn’t notice so she continued speaking.
“My moon who leads and brightens up my path.”
I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
'Cause I need you to see
That you are the reason

____________________________________
It has been over a week since Ina last spoke to Bea. She was so unsure of what to say and she had no idea how to act around her, let alone how to apologise. After another day of Bea failing to acknowledge Ina’s existence, Ina decides she has had enough of this uncertainty. She deserves to be treated like someone Bea actually cares about and Ina desperately wants to find out if Bea is okay. That’s how she comes to find herself outside of Bea’s place of residence one evening. She was going to knock on the door and tell Bea how she felt, and make sure that Bea knows how sorry she is
Ina takes a moment to breathe before knocking on the door, crafting her face into a perfectly neutral expression in order to mask how much she was also hurting. After a few seconds the door opens to reveal a rather annoyed looking Bea
“What do you want, Ina?” Ina tries to hide the hurt she feels at being regarded so callously as she pushes down her own emotions in order to apologise and explain
“Bea, I need you to know how sorry I am and how bad I feel for hurting you. I should never have said those things to you, I hope you can forgive me”
At the sound of footsteps approaching down the hall, Ina goes to leave but Bea pulls her inside the apartment before slamming the door and pushing Ina up against it rather forcefully which causes Ina’s eyes to widen in shock
“Do you have any idea how hard I worked to build my ranking up?” Ina shakes her head
“It’s just that, in the grand scheme of things-” Bea sighs impatiently as anger begins to creep its way onto her face. She grips the lapels of Ina’s blazer harder than she had been previously
“No, not this shit again. The rankings are important to me! Why don’t you understand that?” Ina shrinks back from Bea but is stopped from going any further by the door behind her. Bea surges forwards and stops a few centimetres from Ina, their noses almost touching. She whispers quietly, aggression seeping into her words
“If you can’t be bothered to understand why, then I don’t want your apology. Get out of my apartment” Bea goes to release Ina but is stopped by the professor wrapping her hands around her wrists and pulling Bea back towards her
“I’m trying my best, Bea! Why can’t you see that?” Ina raises her voice, not quite shouting but loud enough to clearly express her frustration
“Your best isn’t good enough” Bea says this through gritted teeth, becoming increasingly irritated at Ina’s lacklustre apology. The pair are so close together now that they practically breathe each other’s air
Without thinking it through, Ina gives into her urges and surges forwards to kiss the woman before her. Bea doesn’t back away, instead, kissing back and forcefully biting down on Ina’s lower lip which causes her to groan. She thrusts her thigh between Ina’s legs and Ina wastes no time in rocking back and forth on Bea’s leg, arousal building up in her quickly. Suddenly, Bea pulls away, grabbing onto one of Ina’s forearms in a firm grip and pulling her towards her bedroom. Once inside, she shuts the door and pushes Ina up against it, grabbing onto her chin tightly and tilting it upwards to allow her to continue kissing Ina’s full lips. She begins to trail a line of fiery kisses down her neck as Ina goes to wrap her hands around Bea’s waist. Bea catches them with her own and pins Ina’s wrists above her head, pressed hard against the door. After a few moments, the pair part, both of them breathing heavily
“Here’s what’s gonna happen. You’re gonna give me exactly what I want” Bea reaches for the tie of Ina’s blouse in an attempt to undo it but Ina swats Bea’s hands away
“But what about what I want?” This time Ina reaches forwards and grabs onto the hem of Bea’s shirt, beginning to pull it up and exposing the toned stomach of her lover. Bea twists out of Ina’s grasp and pushes her against the door forcefully, hands holding tight onto Ina’s shoulders
“What you want? You’re the one who hurt me!” Ina hangs her head in shame, the reminder of the pain she caused knocks all the fight and arousal out of her. She pulls her gaze from the floor to meet Bea’s eyes
“I am so sorry Bea. Even if you don’t forgive me, I just need you to know how much I regret hurting you” Ina goes to pull away from Bea, but she holds her there, surging forwards to kiss Ina passionately
“I know Ina. Now fuck me like you mean it” A beautiful blush blooms across Ina’s cheeks and just like that, the passion within her is reignited. She quickly presses her lips to Bea’s, the kiss growing in intensity as Bea opens her mouth to allow their tongues to twist together. Simultaneously, Ina begins to pull Bea’s shirt off and the pair briefly part while Ina pulls the garment over Bea’s head. She pauses to gaze at the younger woman in wonderment and adoration; Ina knows that she will never get enough of admiring Bea’s beauty
Her thoughts are interrupted by Bea’s impatient hands tugging at the tie of her blouse. She looks back to Bea’s face and sees that she’s pouting
“Let me see you”
Ina steps round Bea and puts some space between them, turning to face her as she slips her blazer off her shoulders and unties her blouse painstakingly slowly. Ina then gently trails her fingertips from her navel to her chest with the sole intention of driving Bea crazy; and it works. Bea rushes to help Ina out of the rest of her clothes. She begins by freeing Ina’s chest from the fabric prison, running the sides of her fingers over the edges of the woman’s breasts which causes her to sigh gently. The sound is music to Bea’s ears and encourages her to continue exploring Ina’s chest, which she does. Her fingertips dance delicately over the stiffening peaks and she lowers her mouth towards one in order to take it into her mouth and swirl her tongue around it. One of Ina’s hands rests on the back of Bea’s head as she lavishes attention on her chest, she moans gently at the feeling but it quickly becomes a sad sigh and she pulls away
“Bea this isn’t fair, I hurt you. I should be the one to please you” Bea smiles softly at Ina’s concern but quickly brushes it aside
“Pleasing you pleases me. Now take off your skirt” Bea grins cheekily at Ina, who chuckles at the younger woman’s impatience as she complies with the request; turning around to give Bea an unforgettable view as she bends over to pull her skirt down her legs. When she rights herself, she looks at Bea expectantly, gesturing at the still mostly clothed woman
“May I?” She steps forwards with her hands outstretched towards Bea. She nods
“You may”
Ina makes quick work of Bea’s clothes, trailing soft fingertips all over and leaving the woman completely bare. Her vision quickly zeroes in on the arousal between Bea’s thighs and she feels her tongue begin to ache with the intense desire to thrust deeply into her. Without thinking, she drops to her knees before the woman, not caring for the damage she may have just caused to her joints. Bea’s eyes begin to widen and they continue to increase in size as her pupils dilate with the anticipation of what is about to occur. Ina wastes no time in trailing her lips and tongue up Bea’s inner thighs, making sure to catch every last drop of arousal that has begun to trickle down. Her nose gently nudges Bea’s clit which causes her to inhale sharply, but Ina doesn’t seem to realise the accidental pleasure she is causing as she loses herself in the taste of her lover
After a few moments of this, Bea places a hand on the back of Ina’s head in an attempt to pull Ina’s mouth where she wants it but Ina resists. Instead, she completely pulls away from Bea’s centre and blows gently which causes Bea’s knees to feel weak as she moans at the teasing
“Ina, please” Ina stands up from where she was kneeling before Bea and holds out a hand towards her
“Let’s move to the bed, I want you to be comfortable” Bea smiles a little at Ina’s concern for her as she puts her hand in Ina’s and follows her over to the bedside
She gently lays Bea down on the huge four poster bed before slowly crawling up her lover’s body, maintaining eye contact until the moment their lips meet in a tender kiss. The pair remain like that for several moments, legs intertwined and tongues swirling together before Ina trails a delicate line of kisses from Bea’s lips to her chest, where she takes a nipple into her mouth and sucks gently. This elicits a breathy sigh from Bea and she thoroughly enjoys the adoration Ina shows to her body despite her growing impatience and burning heat between her thighs. Continuing her path, and with one clear goal in mind, Ina traces a line down from Bea’s chest to her navel with her tongue, stroking her lover’s sides with featherlight caresses from her fingertips. Ina chuckles as she notices Bea’s impatience; she feels Bea’s hand on the back of her head and she spots the slight rising of her hips off the bed. Finally she gives into what she knows her lover needs, her mouth meeting Bea’s clit and sucking gently. This causes Bea to moan and curse at the feeling
“Fuck, Ina”
Her grip on Ina’s hair tightens as she pulls her further into the slickness of her arousal. Ina complies with Bea’s desires, pushing her tongue slowly inside Bea’s entrance and swirling around a few times before trailing back up to flick Bea’s clit with the tip of her tongue. The sudden switch between her entrance and clit causes Bea’s whole body to tense as she moans loudly. Ina repeats this pattern several times, making Bea’s whole body shake with each pass of her tongue. It isn’t long for Bea to come close to the edge and she cries out for more, begging Ina to quicken her pace; and she does. Ina fucks her harder too, tongue thrusting deep inside before swirling her lover’s clit. Bea’s climax comes over her suddenly, stars burst behind her eyelids as she moans much louder than before and grips Ina’s hair tightly without meaning to. The sharp tug on Ina’s hair causes her to moan quietly at the feeling and her arousal is heightened further by watching Bea come undone before her
After a few moments, Ina makes her way back up Bea’s body and places a gentle kiss on her cheek, stroking her hair and murmuring praise in her ear. Once Bea begins to recover, she twists herself so that she faces Ina and rests her head on her chest; burrowing into Ina and snuggling tightly. Ina drapes one arm over Bea’s body and traces delicate little circles with her fingertips on Bea’s skin. Ina clears her throat in preparation of what she feels she must say next
“Bea?”
“Yes, Ina?”
Ina pulls away from Bea to sit upright
“I still feel I should clarify how truly sorry I am for hurting you. I had no idea my words and actions would hurt you so much. If I had known the full extent of my effects beforehand, I never would have said those things to you. I understand if you do not forgive me now, or ever”
Bea feels her eyes begin to water at Ina’s heartfelt words and she sits up to envelop her lover in a tight embrace. Ina freezes momentarily before returning the hug
“I forgive you Ina. Please try not to worry anymore” Ina nods in understanding before attempting to get up from the bed. Bea grabs her by the wrist, a mischievous glint in her eye
“You didn’t think I was going to let you go before pleasing you, right?” Ina smirks as she feels her face get hot
“I was hoping you’d say something like that”

____________________________________________________
Ina hasn’t been able to eat, sleep or even think properly without regret bearing down on her and guilt seeping into every part of her being. She knew how much Bea was hurting and yet she had no clue how to make it up to her, or even just apologise without being shut down by her. She hadn’t spoken to Bea in over a week now, despite seeing her in her lectures; she wasn’t even attending to her TA duties anymore, leaving the job of marking solely to Ina. This made things more difficult for Ina as the workload began to overwhelm her but all she cared about was making things right with Bea
One weekend, Ina made her way down to Bindings, her favourite book store. But as she stepped inside and took in the smell of well-worn pages, she was hit with a sudden nostalgia that made her heart ache. Ina recalled the many occasions Bea and herself went here. Sometimes ending up pressed against the stacks, other times just peacefully reading together, enjoying the simplicity of each other's company. She felt a lump beginning to form in her throat and left the store in frustration; almost everything she did reminded her of Bea. She was so interwoven into Ina’s life that she found it completely impossible to do anything without thinking of her. Ina decided she could no longer go on like this, the lack of closure was driving her insane. She began to form a plan in her mind to demonstrate how sorry she was and how much she regretted the hurt she had caused
Her first task was to make her way back into Bindings and venture to the fantasy section. She knew that Bea had a particular weakness for fantasy novels and tried her best to recall the specific book Bea had picked up last time the pair read together. Finding the book on the shelves, she picked it up and opened the cover. A note fell out onto the floor and she bent down to retrieve it, instantly recognising the writing as belonging to Bea. The note read
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
9/10
Needs more lesbians
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Ina found herself chuckling at Bea’s evaluation of the book and she slipped the note back inside the cover before making her way to the counter and purchasing the book
Her next stop was the movie store just down the street from Bindings. She made her way inside and began the hunt for a very specific, and very amazing, movie (although she’d never admit to Bea just how amazing it was.)
She found it nestled in amongst several movies with obscure sounding erotica names; the organisation of the store was... Interesting. Nothing seemed to be in the right place at all and Ina wondered if the store had ever been organised since it opened its doors many years ago. Nevertheless, she made her way to the counter to purchase the movie
“Buying for a little ‘un?” The shopkeeper asked, in an attempt to make small talk. The question made Ina smile slightly as she held back laughter
“Something like that”
Once she had paid for the movie, she put it into the bag holding the fantasy novel and wished the shopkeeper a good day.
Her final stop was the flower store close to Belvoir’s campus. Upon entering the shop she was hit by a wave of cool air and the scent of blooms of all kinds. She began to look around for some of the flowers she knew were Bea’s favourites, violets and primroses, when she heard her name being called from elsewhere in the store
“Professor Kingsley!” She turned around to spot Chloe St. James looking rather enthusiastic next to a very bored looking Veronica Lombardi. Chloe waved vigorously at the professor
“OMG professor, what are you doing here?” Veronica rolled her eyes as she whipped out her phone, thumbs moving rapidly across the screen
“She’s obviously buying flowers, Chlo. What are you, dense?” Chloe’s brow furrowed in confusion
“I don’t know what that means but I’m not that. I was just wondering who professor Kinglsey is buying flowers for” Veronica didn’t even bother to look up from her phone as she snapped back a retort
“Why Chlo, hoping they’re for you?” Chloe’s cheeks reddened at Veronica’s question and she refused to answer, turning away to fuss with some of the flowers next to her
“It was just a question” She mumbled quietly and Ina raised an eyebrow at the strange conversation. However, she couldn’t let this interaction distract her from her goal. But seeing as her own students were in the shop, she had to come up with a convincing excuse as to why she was buying flowers; they couldn’t know they were for Bea
“It’s quite alright Chloe, I’m just buying flowers for Lillian” Chloe’s eyes widened
“Is she ,like, your girlfriend or something?” Ina felt herself internally cringe at this question and the feeling most definitely showed on her face as her eyebrows knitted together
“No, Lillian is my sister” Veronica snorted in amusement without her expression changing from her current one and Chloe reddened further before grabbing Veronica’s arm and pulling her out of the shop
“We have to go now, bye professor!” She practically ran out, Veronica trailing behind. Ina shook her head in disbelief before making her way to the florist at the front of the store who smiled warmly at her
“Hi there, what would you like me to make for your sister?” Ina smiled sheepishly
“I-uh. The flowers aren’t actually for my sister” The florist raised an eyebrow, a look of mischief crossing her face
“Then for a lover, perhaps?” Ina sighed dejectedly
“Well, kind of, I suppose. If you really wanted to put it that way” The florist laid a comforting hand on Ina’s forearm, sensing the sadness behind the sigh
“We’ll make them something wonderful I promise. So what’ll it be?” Ina smiled gently at the kindness in the shopkeeper’s voice before detailing the bouquet she wanted for Bea, making sure to highlight the importance of violets and primroses
As the florist got to work on the bouquet, adding flowers and greenery of all kinds, Ina felt compelled to describe the falling out she had with Bea. Something about this shopkeeper was so comforting and she felt she could trust them with (almost) all the details, save for Bea being her student. The florist listened intently while they worked, reacting with emotion to the situation. Once Ina had finished recounting the events she sighed and thanked the shopkeeper for listening as they finished up the bouquet. They placed a blank card onto the counter and handed Ina a pen
“Perhaps you would like to write a heartfelt message? To express your regret and apologies” Ina picked up the pen and held it poised above the card, she had no idea where to start or how to fit all she felt on such a small space
“Where do I even begin?”
“Just tell her what you told me, you regret hurting her and want to apologise for her. Even if she doesn’t forgive you, at least she will know you tried.” Ina nods decisively before getting to work. On one side she wrote some words from the poem Bea and Ina share
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Beloved, Let us once more praise the rain
Let us discover some new alphabet,
For this, the often praised; and be ourselves,
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
On the other side she wrote her apology, but she didn’t ask for forgiveness, she just wanted Bea to know how much she regrets hurting her
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I never should have said those things to you
My heart aches to know the pain I have caused
Know that I am sorry
Ina X
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Once she had finished, Ina stood upright and took the bouquet from the florist who smiled and wished her luck
Ina’s final stop was Bea’s place of residence. She felt the nervousness begin to build up in her stomach and the self doubt creeping in. Ina reminded herself that all that mattered was for Ina to try her hardest to end Bea’s pain. Once she got to the apartment door, Ina took a deep breath before knocking, the flowers in one hand and the bag containing the book and movie in the other. She heard shuffling around from behind the door before it flew open and a hand shot out to pull her inside
“Ina! What do you think you’re doing?” Bea quickly shut the door and turned to face her, arms crossed
“Anyone could have seen you out there” Ina looks at the floor sheepishly, guilt flowing freely through her
“I’m sorry Bea. I just don’t think we can go on like this. I need you to know how much I regret hurting you” She hands Bea the flowers and bag
“These are for you. A representation of the effort I am willing to put in to make it up to you, even if you do not forgive me” Bea’s eyes widened at the beautiful flowers and she held them to her nose to inhale the scent. At this moment she spotted the small card nestled within the bouquet, the words of the poem facing her. Wordlessly she plucked the card out and read it, turning it over to spot the message on the back. Once she read the message, she put the flowers to one side and placed the bag on the floor.
“I hope this is okay, Bea. I apologise if I have overstepped” Bea stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Ina, tears filling her eyes and threatening to spill over. Ina hesitated before returning the embrace, uncertainty and relief flooding into her
“I forgive you” Bea whispers quietly which causes Ina to pull away momentarily to look Bea in the eyes
“I did not do this to be forgiven, I just want you to know I am sorry and that I will do anything to lessen the hurt I have caused” Bea smiled a little as she rolled her eyes, the tears finally spilling over. She pulled Ina back in for another hug, planting a soft kiss on her cheek
“Well I forgive you anyways” Ina hugged Bea fiercely, not wanting to let her go as she couldn’t bear the thought of ever being apart from her again. After several moments, Bea pulled back and retrieved the bag from the floor
“I thought you might enjoy those things I bought you” Bea firstly pulled out the fantasy book and chuckled as she read the note she’d previously written. Next she pulled out the movie Ina had bought, the chuckle becoming a full on laugh. Shrek 2.
“Admit it, you love Shrek just as much as I do” Ina shrugged sheepishly as her cheeks darkened
“I will not confirm nor deny”
