i have missed my friends the whitetail deer, and i made an attempt at a low-poly deer. i tried blender once about 4 years back on my laptop at the time and did NOT understand it. i think i did better this time! still no clue how to rig it but we'll get there.

been obsessed with cougars recently!
virginia allegedly hasn't had cougars since 1882 but there have been sightings near where i work recently so i've been researching and keeping a lookout.

a memorial portrait of @delightfullyunsurerunaway 's puppy, beau. i am so honored to get to capture peoples' precious memories of their pets, knowing they will get to feel some happiness - even if it's bittersweet - looking at the portrait i created for them.
beau was such a happy, unique dog who was so loved in his short time. i am just so glad to honor that love and playful spirit. <3

“haven”, a title i came across 3 months after starting this early spring vibes piece! i love how despite my original intent to have this whole painting kind of that dark, still wintery spring energy, it ended up even better - this green, lush haven of hope and warmth in the dark and cold early spring.
(available as a print in either form on etsy!)

recently i have been Obsessed with foraging and found a bunch of mulberry trees - this is just one of the things i’ve made with them! this is a really easy and basic recipe, fruit + sugar + water + wild yeasts for fermentation.
mulberry wine recipe:
step 1: mix 2 lbs unwashed mulberries (covered in wonderful wild yeasts!) with 1 cup of sugar and 2 liters of water. cover!
step 2: stir your mixture 3+ times a day. this resubmerges the berries and keeps any mold from growing on top. it’ll bubble like crazy!
step 3: after 2-4 weeks, once the bubbles have died down, strain out the berries.
step 4: enjoy your wine or (ideally) bottle it up and age it for another 3-6 months, regularly releasing air from the jar.
you can also use this recipe with preeeetty much any berry, and you can spice it up by adding other fruits (strawberries, blackberries, etc) or flowers (i added honeysuckle to my batch! other options are elderflower, dandelion, or clover), substituting unfiltered preservative-free apple juice for the water and sugar, or using honey!

a southeastern five-striped skink & white underwing - (get a print on etsy)
i saw a little skink skitter around my compost the other day, disappear under a log, and come out triumphant with a huge moth in it’s mouth!

the other day i was scrolling through petfinder, sadly, as i can’t adopt another dog currently. while thinking about how sad it is that i can’t help these dogs i thought, i could draw them and spread their adoption links! so to start us off, this is murdock, is a 5 year old hound mix currently in need of a foster and/or a home in fairfax, va! from the rescue:
Murdock is active and strong. He seems to be house trained. He is blind but his nose and ears seem to be 100%!
apply to adopt or foster murdock (or donate to HART) here!
(if you adopt murdock please contact me and i will send you a print of this portrait for free! <3)
