Old style guide I did for Tangled back in the day.. Some great quotes from Bill Moore, famous design teacher at Chouinard, establishing a great way of approaching and studying shapes*
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Years!!! Thanks to all 20,000+ followers following this tumblr; truly it encourages me that there is a audience out there and motivates me to do more work*
Get ready for more exciting things next year ; )

My first anatomy tutorial. How I connect arms to the torso. Simplified the muscles for better comprehension
PS. Pectoral is misspelled as “pectorial” in the picture. Don’t make that mistake haha
And I’d love to see the art made from using these as reference, you can message or tag me.. whatever you want
Edit: The extended names of the muscles:
Neck - Sternocleidomastoideus
Traps - Trapezius
Lats - Latissimus Dorsi

Do you know about my free web based sketch app that rotates random pose references? 🤔
Tumblr media
It's called AdorkaStock Sketch and you can access it on desktop or mobile. It will adjust to fit your screen! On mobile you can scroll down to see the options.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are currently just over 2,000 poses in rotation with more coming. You can change the timer, skip poses, sort with filters, or try predefined class modes.
The site is completely free and thanks to my Patrons I was recently able to remove third-party ads! If you turn off your ad blockers while using the site you will only see my own ads.
You can also make a free account which will allow you to collect a favorites list and set sketching goals.
Please check it out and use it as often as you need to for pose browsing, gesture warm ups, or long drawing sessions (just hit pause on any pose!) Hope it's super useful for you. Happy drawing! 🎨✨

 Could they be considered lazy?
How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
What memory do they revisit the most often?
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
How do they feel about children?
How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
QUESTIONS FOR CREATORS
A) Why are you excited about this character? B) What inspired you to create them? C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story? F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)? G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most? H) What trait do you admire most? I) Do you prefer to keep them in their canon universe? J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?

Hi Tumblr, I need more help :(
Tumblr media
My PC boot up has gotten corrupted and Its not letting me perform a factory reset, so my last resort is to take it in for repair. I have already tried everything on my own end to try and fix it, to no avail, and have just been trying my best to back-up my neccesary files before I can take it in.
This computer is where I do all of my work, my commissions, everything, so its really important I get it into a fully functional state as soon as possible.
I cannot pay the shop repair fees on my own, as im unemployed and trying to re-establish :[ so all I am able to do is ask for your help. I can offer a small doodle/art piece to everyone who donates +$20* as soon as my computer is fully operational again, as a thank you for the help.
*(Just let me know where would like me to dm you in your note on ko-fi if you would like one and I will contact you about it as soon as im able.)
If you cannot donate, a share will do just fine <:] Thank you.

How are the prints of your art so freaking beautiful? I have three of your 24x36 prints and they're the best looking pieces in my whole collection and I wish I could get my art (digital) to look half as good in a large print but I just can't figure it out. Is there some special trick to it or just your own brand of magic? Love you and your work <33
Oh thank you! I do have some tips!
If you're looking to get the crispness at scale, I think the most important factor is the size of your art. I work on big canvases, at least 8000px on the shortest side. This requires a computer that is haunted by a powerful ghost, but painting at that scale results in a finished file that you can print at large sizes (posters, wall tapestries, etc) and it'll look fantastic. As a rule of thumb, figure out the largest dimensions you want to print at before you start painting, and set up your canvas to that size at 300dpi.
Be ready to make levels/curves adjustments to your artwork to compensate for differences between how your piece displays digitally and how it prints. I usually do a couple test prints and tweak the files from there. Digital art is going to print darker/less luminous than you see it on your screen, so I make my files brighter than I actually want them to be, and they darken and turn out looking right in print.
Select paper stock with your artwork in mind — matte and semi-matte papers are much preferred for darker art like mine. And possibly for all art, all the time. Brightly colored art can work on glossy paper but idk, I don't like glossy prints in general. Maybe…too shiny? Too squeaky? I feel like a bird is going to come grab it out of my hand? on reflection, this may be a personal problem
If you're making prints at home, squint suspiciously at your printer while it prints. Keep it self-conscious, keep it on its A-game. An unsupervised printer may try to pull one over on you. Don't let it happen.
I hope that's helpful somehow! a lot of it is still mysterious to me also, don't be discouraged if it takes some trial and error!

its so important to me that artists remember they can fuck around. you never have to use tools as intended. you can always skip steps. you dont have to be organized. you dont have to be neat. you can put as little effort as you want into the parts of the process you dont find fun. maybe if youre making products you cant do these things but on your own time you can do literally actually whatever the hell. it doesnt matter how long you spend on it youve made art and its complete when you decide to quit. yee haw
