(@glorf1ndel said she wanted to know more about my guys in the tags of my last art (thank you!) so i took the excuse to clean this up a little and slap some colors on it!!)
They're my wizard Finnelyn Roselorre's favorites in the Rose Court, and they're very typical of the archetypes for that role! They're both from lesser nobility, but Erytha's family has very close ties to the Roselorres and Alkion's has um. The opposite. (bad ties) (would happily resort to armed combat if the emperor allowed infighting between his lords ties)
Erytha's a little spoiled and self-serving and Alkion's priority is playing the social game, but they're the closest things to friends that the three of them have. They're gossip buddies, you know. They like to stand around and judge people.

Oh absolutely slkdjfhgs she sometimes even does it on purpose. But Erytha also serves the essential role in their friend group as the least lying-est liar of all of them. She'll just tell it how it is and it cuts down some of their sillier squabbles.

I started writing a whole paragraph explaining their dynamics and then I was like actually what if I just draw a silly little relationship chart
But like tl;dr all three of them are looking for things from the relationship that the others cannot give but also they're the closest and longest and truest friends that any of them have had. Like, they're not good friends to each other, but they're as good as they've got

FINNELYN -> desperate for human connection but allergic to vulnerability
towards Erytha: childhood friend but knows her too well to trust her
towards Alkion: hungry for his affection, but convinced Alkion only wants him for his power
ERYTHA -> apathetic & pragmatic; happy to be here just for pleasure and power
towards Finnelyn: thinks they're the same
towards Alkion: a good lay & he's from a good family
ALKION -> painfully aware that he has to crawl back to his family if this falls apart
towards Finnelyn: was genuinely in love with Finn, but burned too many times by his inability to be genuine
towards Erytha: jealous of her secure position in court & with Finn

every time i try to learn how to draw in perspective (specifically 1pt perspective) my artist friends are always like oh its easy! you just need a vanishing point and orthogonal lines etc etc. and i (not trained in art. trained in scenic design) ask how do i know what scale to use. and they can never tell me
like i understand how to scale along the x-axis and y-axis walls but not along the z-axis and it's messing me up. help. does anybody who follows me know how to do this

And that’s a wrap on the silm requests! Thanks to everybody for the requests, and also welcome to all the new followers!! This is ordinarily an oc blog but I do return to the silm regularly. I normally post about once a week (usually Friday or Saturday) and then I schedule reblogs like once or twice before the next art
My current main project is one I’ve just been calling finn wip which is a novel about my wizard boy and his trials and tribulations. ig i should make an intro post about him?? bc there's so many new people here?

@just-another-linguist and @melestasflight both requested Fingon which was v exciting. Fingon is one of the characters that really stuck with me the first time I read the Silm, but I’ve never actually drawn him. In my mind this is like a Valinor-era Fingon!
