the dip in the accordian potatoes gif looks so good, what's it called, if you dont mind?
I mixed:
mayo
ketchup
relish
paprika
red curry paste
salt
garlic and/or onion powder
lemon juice
I don't really have a name or an exact recipe for it, I basically just use 2/3 mayo 1/3 ketchup as the base then add whatever amounts of the rest until it tastes like a decent sauce with a little kick. Sometimes I add other stuff like garam masala. It's like a knock-off fusion of Big Mac sauce and whatever sauce Tim Horton's uses in their breakfast wraps.

hello! i was wondering, would you say that making gifsets are protected under fair use/transformative use? (i ask this genuinely and out of curiousity - personally i think an argument for fair use could be made in most cases but i'm no lawyer so who knows if there's something i'm missing, haha). ty for taking the time to look at this ask, even if you don't answer it ^-^
I think they fall under the same fair use laws as any other visual medium: it's all about the context. For media to be fair use it has to be transformative in some way; used for criticism, parody, education, etc. The only gifs I could imagine anyone going after due to copyright would be MAYBE movie gifs? But tumblr has run on movie and show gifsets for years so I don't see that ever being an issue. I think in that regard gifs are often seen in the same light as stills or screenshots rather than clips (which are a lot more likely to receive copyright strikes).
When it comes to stim gifs, which can often be from movies but are most widely sourced from social media videos... I can't really imagine them NOT being fair use.
But I'm not an expert and only have an extremely basic understanding of American and Canadian copyright law, so 🤷
