“Catch up, slowpoke!” y/n exclaimed as she passed Tsireya on her ilu.
“You’re such a cheater, y/n!” Tsireya laughed as she rolled her eyes at her best friend.
y/n gasped and clutched her hand on her heart, “You’re so mean to me, Reya!” she looked back only to see Tsireya staring at something, or rather someone.
y/n began snickering to herself as they hopped off their ilu’s and swam to shore. She took her place next to Tsireya and whispered in her ear, “Looks like someone has a little crush!”
Tsireya blushed and whipped her head to look at y/n, “Stop! I do not.”
y/n rolled her eyes and looked at the boy Tsireya was staring at, “Sure you don’t!” Tsireya lightly shoved her until her father glared at her.
Tsireya cleared her throat and whispered to y/n, “Do you think I have a chance with him?”
y/n smiled and nodded, “He’s been staring at you this whole time.”
“Hey,” said the forest boy to Tsireya. This made a smile spread across her face.
“Told you,” y/n jokingly stuck out her tongue at Tsireya.
“Oh, shush!” Tsireya giggled.

“y/n! y/n!” Tsireya ran up to her best friend with a bright smile on her face, flashing her pearly white teeth and adorable dimples.
y/n turned around and smiled, “Did something happen?”
“Lo'ak and I just confessed to each other!” Tsireya was practically bouncing up and down in excitement.
“WHAT?” y/n's eyes widened. “Actually?!”
“Yes!”
The girls squealed in unison and jumped up and down, holding onto each other's shoulders.
“I told you you had a chance with him! I was right again!” y/n stated with a cocky smile.
“Oh, shush!” Tsireya rolled her eyes.
“On a serious note, I'm happy for you, Reya! Just promise me you'll still spend time with me?” y/n looked at the girl with a hopeful look in her eyes.
“Of course, y/n! After all, you are my bestest friend in the whole universe!” Tsireya wrapped her arms around her.
“I see you, Reya,” said y/n with tears welling up in her eyes as she hugged her best friend.

y/n stifles a laugh as they and Lo’ak sneak glances at Neteyam. Lo’ak and y/n had previously snuck in some different seasonings and ingredients to Neteyam’s food, and at the moment they were waiting for him to take a bite.
Lo’ak and y/n glanced at each other before looking back at Neteyam. Neteyam looked at them both before seeing y/n trying not to laugh.
“Okay, what’s going on with you two?” Neteyam sets down his food and glares at them as the rest of the Sully’s look at the two.
“What? What do you mean?” Lo’ak looks around ‘innocently’.
“Nothing’s going on!” y/n said looking at anything but Lo’ak or Neteyam, knowing they’d laugh if they did.
Neteyam simply shook his head and picked up his food, taking a bite of out it. y/n and Lo’ak watched as Neteyam’s eyes widened and he spit out his food.
Neytiri furrowed her eyebrows at her eldest son. “Neteyam? What’s the matter?” Neteyam wiped his tomgue with his hands and glared at the two culprits.
“Them! Those two did something to my food!” He pointed at Lo’ak and y/n.
y/n leaned over and whispered into Lo’ak’s ear, “I think that’s our queue to run.” Their boyfriend nodded and stood up, reaching a hand out. as soon as y/n took it, they ran. Neteyam stood up as well and began to run after them.
“You’re so dead, little bro! You and your partner in crime!” Neteyam shouted at them.
y/n laughed as they continued to hold hands with Lo’ak and slow down, “Partner in crime?”
Neteyam smiled and slowed down as well, “Yeah, partner in crime! You know, since you and Lo’ak are always pranking people and getting into trouble.”
Lo’ak spoke up and smiled at his partner, “I think it’s very fitting.”
y/n smiled and squeezed Lo’ak’s hand, “should we get back to your parents? We kind of left without saying anything…”
Neteyam nodded, “Yeah, I don’t want to get in trouble cause of you two idiots.” Neteyam flicked both of them on the foreheads.
“Ouch!” they said in unison.
Lo’ak rubbed his head with his free hand, “let’s just go.”

Being the eldest daughter of the Olo’eyktan and Tsahìk definitely was not easy. y/n constantly received lectures from her parents (more so her mother) because of her free-spirited behavior. She loved her parents, don’t get her wrong, it’s just sometimes they were so strict. Not to mention, she always got the blame for what her siblings (mostly Ao’nung, not so much Tsireya) did. Being she was the eldest, she was expected to always look after them.
One of the only people who understood her struggles was her best friend Neteyam. Neteyam and his family had to flee their home and move here because of the sky people. Even though many people from the clan didn’t accept him at first, y/n did. When she first saw him, she thought he was one of the most breathtaking boys she had ever saw.
y/n was the one who taught him all he knows now. He had caught on quickly because y/n was such an amazing teacher. She had to be, really, considering she taught the little children of the clan multiple times a week.
Speaking of which, that was what y/n was doing at the moment. She was standing in the shallow water with the children of her people.
“Little one, come back here!” y/n called after the little girl. The girl only giggled in response as y/n chased her. “Got you!” y/n smiled as she picked her up and walked her back to the group. The little girl clung onto y/n as she tried to put her down.
y/n sighed and held onto her bottom with one arm as she told the other kids that is was their breaktime. The little girl wrapped her arms around y/n and laid her head on her shoulder. y/n faintly smiled and shook her head.
Standing by a nearby tree, Neteyam watched the scene in front of him. He couldn’t help but find his best friend (and crush) ethereal whenever she taught and looked after the children. He couldn’t help but fall harder for her everytime he watched such a sight.
Suddenly feeling someone stare at her, y/n turned around and saw Neteyam. Immediately her face lit up and her smile brightened. Neteyam’s heart swelled. Oh, how he loved her smile. To him, it was the most beautiful sight in the world.
“Is there something on my face?” y/n looked curiously at Neteyam.
He laughed and shook his head, “No. There’s nothing there.”
“Then why are you staring at me?” If it was even possible, her smile widened.
“You just look beautiful is all,” Neteyam smiled.
y/n’s ears and cheeks turned purple, “Don’t do that.”
“What do you mean? I didn’t do anything,” Neteyam laughed again.
“Oh, you liar. You know what you did,” y/n lightly pushed him with her free hand. Neteyam feigned an offended face and put his hands up. “But seriously, how come you’re here?”
“I just wanted to see my favorite girl. Plus I was bored so I figured I’d come and bother you,” Neteyam shrugged and smiled.
y/n rolled her eyes, “Okay, well, I have a class to teach so either you sit there and be quiet or go away and bother someone else.”
“Okay, okay! I’ll be quiet!” Neteyam sat down with the rest of the kids.
y/n rolled her eyes at him and tapped on the back of the girl in her arms, “Little one, you have to get down now. I’m afraid our break is over and I have to get back to teaching you and the other children.”
“Aw, c’mon! I was just getting comfy!” The little girl whined as she tried to wiggle out of her arms. y/n placed her down.
“I know, I’m sorry,” y/n laughed silently to herself as she watched the little girl sit down next to Neteyam.
y/n looked at the other kids playing in the water and called out, “Children! Break time is over!” She watched as the kids stopped playing and ran over to sit down with Neteyam and the little girl.
“Okay, now, let’s resume what we were talking about earlier. Can anyone tell me what we were discussing?” y/n smiled at the kids as a little boy raised his hand. “Yes?”
“We were talking about slowing our heartbeat and breathing!”
“Correct! Now that I already explained to you all what it is, I will show you how to do it and then we will practice. Neteyam,” she looked at the eldest boy, “will you be my demonstration please?”
Neteyam smiled and walked over next to her, “of course.”
She looked back at the children, “Now, when you are trying to slow your heartbeat, remember you have to breathe from down here,” y/n placed her hand on Neteyam’s stomach. “If you breathe from your lungs, it simply will not work.”
Neteyam felt his heart race at the physical contact between them. No matter how many deep breaths he took, he couldn’t slow down his heart.
“Ma Nete, you heart is racing. Is everything okay?” She looked at him.
“Yeah, yeah! Everything’s fine!” He gave a nervous smile.
“Whatever you say,” she sighed and turned back to the kids. “Who wants to go first?”

I feel like Neteyam would be the kinda person to use his tail as a sense of touch.
Like his partner is right beside him? His tail will brush against their leg. Or if he’s sitting down next to them, he’ll interwine his own with his S/O’s tail.

Y/N and her ilu broke through the water, splashing Tsireya in the face in the process.
"Hey!" Tsireya looked at her sister, feigning an offended look as Y/N laughed at her. "I'm so gonna get you back!"
"Oh, no you're not!" Y/N's ilu got the hint and began to swim off as Tsireya chased them on her own ilu. She frowned as she saw her sister slow down and focus her attention somewhere else. Tsireya quickly realized where she was looking.
There was the famous Toruk Makto and his family in the flesh. Y/N and Tsireya quickly hopped off their ilu's and swam to shore.
Y/N scanned the family as she wrung the water out of her long, curly hair. She looked at the oldest boy only to find him looking right back at her. Y/N quickly flashed him a smile and gave a tiny wave.
Neteyam felt heat rising to his face and ears, each quickly turning a purple color (please someone understand my reasoning behind this). She was the prettiest girl he had ever seen. He couldn't keep his eyes off her. His eyes would constantly wonder back to her no matter how hard he would try to look somewhere else.
He only hoped he would be able to talk to her.
a few days later.
Training with Neteyam was going great. He was quickly picking up the skills Y/N was teaching him. But today was going to be the real test. Today, Neteyam would be learning how to ride an ilu.
Neteyam waited at the agreed meeting spot for Y/N.
"Neteyam!" Y/N jogged over with a smile present on her face and a saddle in her hand as he turned around to look at her. "Ready for today?" If it was even possible at this point, her smile grew wider.
"Ready than ever," Neteyam said with slight nervousness in his voice as he took in her appearance. Her beauty seemed to blow him away every time.
"Good! Let's get started then," She said as she walked about waist-level deep into the water before calling an ilu for Neteyam. He followed her into the water, standing almost directly behind her.
Y/N turned around to speak to Neteyam only to see how close they were to each other. She blushed and took a step back as he cleared his throat and felt the heat on his face.
"Right. First things first — you have to put the saddle onto the ilu like this," she quickly but gently put the saddle onto the ilu. "Then you mount it like I do," Y/N pulled herself up onto the ilu and held onto the antennas. "Got it?"
"Yes," Neteyam nodded.
"Good. Now it's your turn," she smiled and got off the ilu. Neteyam's eyes widened as he pulled himself onto the ilu and incorrectly held onto the ilu.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows as she placed her hands on top of Neteyam's and moved them to the correct spot. He took a deep breath and tried his best not to freak out.
She looked at him and smiled to herself, "now make the bond and tell the ilu where you want to go."
Neteyam smiled and nodded, "forward." He clearly underestimated the speed of the ilu's. He shot forward, and because he wasn't holding onto its antennas tight enough, he fell off.
Y/N started laughing and shaking her head, "try again."
