Excitement, Confusion, and Fright
i ended up writing so much more than i expected to?? here comes an info dump.
when he’s excited, sandman comes off more like he’s anxious. he gets up, walks around, maybe paces a bit. he tries to keep to himself but. it’s. so. difficult! usually, he sways a bit from side-to-side, a small grin on his face that you can tell he’s trying his best to keep down. he might mumble to himself if he’s alone but if he’s with someone he’s comfortable with, he’ll try to nudge the conversation towards the topic of what made him excited in the first place. he might laugh a little. or a lot. don’t tell him you heard him giggle.
confusion? oh please ! mister sandman is never confused–okay, that’s… that’s a lie. he never stays confused, but for the time that he is, he tends to pull a face–you know the one, scrunched up eyebrows and mouth slightly open, blinking in confusion. often his confusion segues into frustration at himself because he’s not comprehending fast enough! work faster, brain! if he’s confused at what someone’s doing/happening, then he’s not afraid to ask.
fright’s an interesting one! usually he’s the one doing the frightening, and any fear he has before a match or something similar can usually be written of as anticipation. he’s very good at masking his terror with bravado. if he’s in a haunted house or something designed to scare him, he’ll usually laugh it off, or smile cockily, because sorry, was that supposed to frighten me? i’m 6′5, and i’m a world class boxer. nothing scares me.
he’s actually braver if he’s going through something alone, because he feels he has to protect whoever he’s with otherwise! so if he goes through a haunted house with you, for example, he’s gritting his teeth with his eyes darting towards possible exits scares. he likes scaring his friends, but doesn’t like if anyone else does it. he does like watching horror movies, though, because he feels he’s more in control. if by himself, his eyes are wide and he’s loosely holding a pillow with one hand that he might squeeze (… and break) if it gets too intense. if he’s with someone else, he glances at them occasionally to make sure they’re okay, but otherwise acts the same.

“to elaborate: i don’t hate aran. he’s alright. the few interactions we’ve had out of the ring mostly involved him trying to get me to hit him. i can’t understand.
(though i do hear i knocked him out for a few days.)
(s’not my fault.)
… bull’s a good friend of mine. we’ve hung out before.”
