For Halloween i'll be dressing up as Barrel. Any tips to stay in character and stuff?
((I've been sitting on this forever trying to think of a way to answer it, but nothing amazing has come to mind so I'll just say this.
First, nobody, nobody, NOBODY expects you be in character during Halloween or at a convention or whathaveyou. I've even heard it can be rather jarring when people are IC, especially if the character they're cosplaying as is a complete jerk. BUT I DON'T GO TO CONS, SO I CAN'T VOUCH FOR THAT.
However, if it is something you want to do, here's a few things I can think of:
Barrel has a HUGE smile on his face 95% of the time. He generally looks and acts pretty happy.
He's more of a follower than a leader. He tends to let Lock and Shock take charge and also seems to lag behind them when going somewhere, so consider that if you're going to be with a group. Though, obviously this isn't always the case.
Going along with the last point, he seems to be a bit more laid-back than the other two, though he's not against getting into a brawl with the other two for no other reason than he feels like it.
More obviously, he's designated as the "food guy" of the group.
Like Lock and Shock, he's prone to lying and being mean to others, with no provocation, because it's "fun." They're also not above "switching sides" to keep out of trouble (though that's only after Oogie dies).
Keep in mind, this is only referencing the movie. Because as great as Oogie's Revenge was, I'm not entirely sure I want to accept it as canon.
Anyway, sorry it took me so long to get to this!! I hope it's not too late.))

((Also: To Genderbender Anon! I'm sure your swaps are wonderful! LSnB are young yet and don't understand fandom, so it's best not to listen to them. :) But if I may make a suggestion? I think you could keep their names the same. Lock, shock, and barrel are all gender ambiguous, and I think they work well for all sexes.
