Hi! I hope you don't mind me asking but do you have any tips/pointers for drawing side profiles? Its something I've been struggling to teach myself and the way you draw them is so so nice.

Hello! I'm glad you enjoy my work so much! This previous posts of mine could be useful to you! I talk about my approach to drawing faces in it. I've also talked about my approach in this post, where I talk about the construction of your drawings via the usage of simplified shapes. Knowing the basic proportions and anatomy is always helpful, so check the resources and tips I share in these posts.

When it comes to drawing faces, I think it also rather important to know the basic, simplified skeletal anatomy of the skull.

You don't have to know and memorize every bone and muscle, but knowing the basic proportions and simplified anatomy (All Morpho anatomy books are great!) helps you understand what you're trying to draw, which is always beneficial. When you understand the basic realistic structures of what you're aiming to draw, you can start to bend the rules if you wish to do so.

Remember to use references! Study real people and real faces. Study and analyze the artwork of artists whose work you admire. Analyze their work, such as the shapes and lines they use, and the visual rhythm of their work. And remember to have fun, so practice drawing in a way that feels motivating and fun to you personally. Also, don't get discouraged if your drawings look "bad" especially at the start - that is completely normal. We all go through that - even professionals fail and draw "bad" drawings. Folks just don't share their "failed" or "bad" drawings on social media as often as they share their highly polished work. Personally, I think it is important to remember this. Also, I've been drawing and practicing for 10+ years, which is another thing I think is important to mention.

Saw your Art vs Artists pic and it got me thinking, what makeup products do you use? I've been searching for tips about eyebrow makeup and yours look amazing!

Aw thanks! My everyday makeup routine is very basic and fast - I mostly just use sunscreen (SPF 50, moisturizing, meant for the face), foundation, and an eyebrow pencil. In the pic you're referring to, I'm also wearing subtle black eyeliner on my lower waterline and some black mascara. The eyebrow pencil that I currently use is this one: Lumene - Longwera Eyebrow Definer 5 Dark Brown

I like this pencil since it's automatic so it stays sharp, the color lasts long, and the pen is vegan and cruelty-free. The pen tip is soft and waxy but thin, which helps with precision. The only minus is that the pen doesn't last as long as those wooden eyebrow pencils do, which often last for ages. But still, this pen is really nice and worth its price.

Throwback...Tuesday? Sure! If you've been following me for a while you might remember I used to do tons of these one-off black and white character drawings. I was getting nostalgic looking through them in my files today- here's some of my favorites!

Honestly I have hundreds of drawings sitting around, I'd love to work with a publisher to put them into a book someday. I've been too busy to draw this kind of thing recently but I'm hoping to do more soon, they're always a blast to make! : )
