There are so many different forms of art. It doesn’t have to to be on a canvas or on paper. You can make art out of molding clay or silly putty. You can use multiple kinds of fabric and material, mud, sand, lights, beads, baking materials, string, lacing, and even hair! The options are endless in what materials and items can be used to make any kind of art that you want. Art can also be taken in the form of photography. The amazing thing is that you can also get inspiration from any materials or objects you see as well. You can take something simple like a child’s toy or even a little Lego and turn it into something completely different! I have seen so many videos and photos of hair styles and people that have taken hair on people’s heads still and turned it into beautiful braids and flower designs. I have also just seen someone make a large dinosaur from the last snowfall that we had! He painted it and everything. You would not have known that it was made out of snow unless you saw the snow around it and the pile of snow the tail was connected to for support and balance of the piece. You can truly take anything and make it into any kind of art that your mind comes up with because there is no limit to what you can create.

Art museums are a great place to look at history but also get inspiration as well! It’s like looking at old fashion styles of clothing and comparing the differences between now and back then and what has changed. You can do the same thing with art! The cool thing is that a lot of art styles have continued as time has gone on and is still present today in art today. A lot of artists have also used older styles to come up with their own and branch off of those to make unique art pieces! Some people think that art museums are boring and they can be but you have to have the eyes of a child and find the beauty and fascination in the simple elements. A lot of museums also have more recent art too from more recent famous artists so they are a lot different from what the stereotypical ideas of what an art museum has in it are. Plus you can support a local business and that is really awesome! Some people don’t like learning about history or have a hard time remembering it, but if you go to an art museum you can see it in color, 3D sculptures, and so much more.

Find Your True Passion(s)
You know how they tell you that you can be anything you want to be and to always follow your dreams? It's hard to do that when you don't know what you want your dreams to be in order for them to align with what your purpose in life is. For a long time in my life, I was really into music and playing instruments because I was always interested in art, but I wasn't an artist so I chose to be a musician. I found out my senior year of high school that I could be an artist and it wasn't as hard as I thought. I always told people that I could barely draw a stick figure as a joke, while being half serious at the same time. Then I found out that all that you need to do to be an artist is believe in yourself, trust the process of your work, practice lots, and don't give up. Once I allowed myself to make mistakes, let myself be truly creative and not be so hard on myself, I found myself a lot happier. It wasn't that I was unhappy before, but I discovered my true passion. Now, my goal is to be an artist for a living, but in the mean time, I will continue working for radio and use what I learn to keep growing my knowledge and creativity. I say all of this to inspire others to get out of their comfort zones and take risks to find new passions so you get the most out of life. Also music and art go hand-in-hand I have found out and love using both.

Behind the Scenes
I want to starting posting more behind the scenes processes of how I make my artwork. There is a lot that goes into art. Although at the foundation of art, it is simple. But the simple elements are layered on top of each other to create something complex. I guess it is like anything else in life. When you break something down like baking, sports, or even knowledge it all has building blocks of smaller elements to make it more complex. Baking is taking ingredients and combining them to make something tasty. Sports are as simple as someone throwing a ball for someone else to catch and run with to keep away from other players to make up an entire game. Knowledge is a lot of different facts and experiences combined to become wiser and smarter than you were before. Art is the same way. You can take simple shapes and colors and combine them or put one on top of the other to make it into a beautiful mountain scape, a city skyline, or even something like a human face. My point is that sometimes you have to trust the process and anyone can draw and make art even if they don't think that they can. All you have to do is get the basics down like how to draw a circle and learn how to build on it to make something even greater. I want to help teach you how. Stay tuned to learn more!

Here is a crab that used to be a wool hat! This is Apricot Moon. She has long since scuttled off to a new home to eat lots of ripe stone fruits.

I Manage Stress with Art
When I get stressed out I try to take deep breaths and take a couple of moments to doodle a little bit. It helps take my mind off of my work and the general stresses of life. I draw simple shapes and like to put patterns in them to fill in the empty space. The thing is though, is I have a bad habit of starting to draw something and then not finishing it. I want to get better about finishing the artwork that I start. Another way I try to help manage my stress is coloring. I have some coloring books for adults that have a bunch of different patterns and shapes. I like to take my colored pencils to try different styles of blending and shading to see what could work and what doesn't. I highly recommend going to a store and getting a coloring book or a small notebook to doodle and draw different ideas that come to mind. It will help take your mind off the stress and worries of the world around you.

The Sky Inspires Me to Paint
Today it is sunny outside which makes me happy and gives me motivation for doing artwork. This morning on my way to work the sky was so beautiful. It was cloudy except for one area that was like a giant crack in the sky. It let sunlight and blue sky shine through radiantly. On either end of the big whole in the sky was cracks in the clouds. As I got closer to work, more and more of the sky had opened up and it was amazing to watch. The colors became more brilliant and vibrant the more the minutes passed by. I took pictures, but it they do not do justice to the real thing. I love watching the sky both day and night. It is always changing and so colorful. It makes me inspired to want to try and paint more often to get better at it. I want to experiment with water colors and even more with acrylics. I really want to recreate what the sky looks like at different times of the day and how beautiful it is.
