AUGHH. AUGH. GRIPPING MY HEAD. CRYING. YEAH OK
probably don't need to say this but EDW SPOILERS
oh vett's so fucked up post-edw. there's so much. like on the one hand he's Better (as in, not deeply angry and not lashing out at people and not, like, desperately clawing at the walls for someone to save him) but on the other hand he is DEEPLY traumatized lmfao. mid-endwalker he has his therapy arc (going to elpis) after blowing up at his sister because of the lopporits, and when he comes back he's like, more Stable at least, but still like. kind of a mess. because you don't exactly just get over four years of carrying the weight of the entire world on your teenage shoulders over the course of like a day.
but after ultima thule? lol. lol
like okay i've said it before that he's, like, Better after endwalker. like just generally. and partially that's true, because he's FINALLY given a break, and there's some semblance of normalcy and no world-ending conflict he has to deal with, so he can rest and recover after not really having the space for that since he was 13. but there's so much trauma. both physical and mental. so let's get into that!
for starters, there's the abandonment problem. because while vett can rationalize what happened in ultima thule and why everyone did what they did, he finds himself with this all-consuming fear that it will happen again. estinien left him. zii (his older sister, for those who don't know) left him. the twins left him. and they said it was for him. just so he could go on. so he could save everyone. but alphinaud did not listen when vett said that there was no happiness at journey's end without alphinaud and alisaie. didn't listen even when vett begged them not to go, even though there was no other way. and it's hard for him to trust when alphinaud says he'll come home after a trip to garlemald. he finds it hard to trust that alisaie will call every day like she says she will, even though she does. because they promised to go on together in ultima thule. because alisaie promised, back in stormblood, that they would carry on together. and then they left him alone there, to save the world by himself. and it's really hard to come back from that, even if he can rationalize it, even if they did come back, even if they do keep their promises. and it's going to take a long time for him to get over it. but for now, post endwalker, he's trying. :(
secondly! there's the dying. because vett has died 7 times, and been brought back. once to lahabrea in ARR, five times to ravana, and once to zenos in ultima thule. and thanks to hydaelyn and the elementals and his own strength, he got out of those first six with some gnarly scars and trauma but not much else. but the seventh time is the kicker, apparently, because when he wakes up on the ragnarok, he is NOT fine. the only reason he survived at all was meteion. her attachment to him was so strong that she tied her soul to his to drag his soul back from death, but his body was another problem entirely. when he returns back to etheirys, his ability to manipulate aether is MASSIVELY reduced, to the point where he can't cast any magic and in fact can hardly stand. he's bedridden for weeks, just trying to get back to being able to take care of himself, but it is an uphill battle that makes him miserable. he does physical therapy and practices small magic every day, but it takes weeks, if not months for him to regain a fraction of his original strength. he has chronic pain (sorry for projecting but it's fibromyalgia. i can do whatever i want) and chronic fatigue, but he's headstrong and can't stand to have other people taking care of him (because he's the healer! that's his job!) so he works very hard to get better. not that it ever goes away, but to make it manageable.
not to worry! he does get his ability to use magic back. and most of his strength as well! things just hurt more. he can't handle as much physical stuff as he used to. however!!! tataru gives him a fucking island. and tells him to take alphinaud (and meteion because she goes everywhere with him now) and go on a vacation. and vett isn't into it at first. he doesn't want to go. he's like "can't i just stay at home. i'm too tired for this" and tries to get out of it. he's depressed. but alisaie practically drags him out to go, insisting that he needs sunshine and alisaie knows that it'll make him feel better, and vett can't tell her no. so he goes.
and dammit, it does make him feel better.
the island sanctuary becomes one of vett's favorite places in the world. he tinkers with all the mammets because they were based off of models he made. he spends so much time tending to the garden and going out collecting stuff and tending the animals. all while alphinaud watches, usually from a distance while reading a book, peeking over the top to see vett practically frolicking around having fun and playing. and then alphy gets dragged down to the ocean, of course, protesting while vett drags him out into the water. :) they finally get to act like teenagers like they should've been able to all along. like they should've been able to when they met. and it makes me soooooo. wailing and crying
oh yeah, and alphivett wedding. :') which happened before island sanctuary but i only just remembered it now so it goes here. sorry i'll shut up about them in a minute i'm just wailing about my little guys a bit. it's my birthday i can be abnormal about them even if it's embarrassing it's fine.
so yeah vett gets his fairy tale wedding like he wanted since he was a toddler. he's a mess through the whole thing (trying not to cry constantly even though he's already crying) and it's very sweet and zii also cries through the whole thing. i wrote the vows once and it made me explode into a million pieces.
ANYWAY OKAY MOVING ON FROM MY SCRUNKLIES. as dawntrail draws closer and there is beginning to be some chatter about the warriors of light (vett and zii) going to tural, vett starts to panic. because he did not think about the idea of having to be A Warrior Of Light™ again. and the prospect terrifies him. because he is not as strong as he used to be. he feels like he can't go back to being that. yes he's still the most powerful white mage alive but that doesn't mean he's, like, strong enough to go traipsing around foreign countries and getting into trouble anymore. he's a disabled, traumatized, deeply tired 20 year old now and he doesn't think he can bear the weight anymore. when he was 16 and didn't know any better and just wanted to help, he would've been just fine, but it's different now. it's so different. he's been through so much.
so! from stage right! in comes vincent fowler. one of zii's childhood best friends. one of the two azure dragoons. a trustworthy scion and friend. an older and more experienced and endlessly kind man who vett believes in and trusts with his life. and with his sister's life.
he asks vincent to meet him in sharlayan one night. and they sit down by the docks and vett begs vincent to help him. to save him. to take his place. and vincent doesn't even hesitate to say yes. because at the end of the day, vett is a kid. vincent knew him when he was a toddler. it's so hard for vincent to watch him suffer at all, and for vett to trust him enough to ask for him to take his place is an honor, and took so much courage. and vincent loves him. so the torch is passed, and vett is free.
so, from now on, vett gets to tend his island, and he'll be doing the cosmic exploration in dawntrail with meteion, and maybe having a little cameo in tural just to see the sights, and he'll be eagerly waiting to hear from zii and alphinaud and alisaie and vincent, and most of all, he will be resting. he will be getting better.
closing this out with the art that mikhail (my lovely asker who i am so grateful to, both for the art and the space to talk about this AND just for being my lovely friend who i adore) gave me for my birthday. which made me cry so so soso much

jesus christ that IS digging deep. i haven’t thought about raz since high school it feels like. i remember so little of his lore but i can do my best to piece it together lmfao. i wish i had any kind of ref image for him but uh he is an oc from so long ago and most of those old ocs have been collecting dust for yeaaaars except the few i’m really attached to
anyway here goes?
okay so i hunted down my original ramble about him just now and i forgot how much i liked this concept lol. i’m realizing i still really like my old ocs
anyway! raz is a magicverse sorcerer. he’s genderfluid and bisexual. he’s one of the most famous models in the western magic world and frequently ends up in the few magazines/newspapers that exist in sorcerer society (usually only widespread in bigger cities/places with high concentrations of sorcerers). he’s also kind of a porn star on the side, though he takes that a bit less seriously. anyway, he’s considered very handsome in a traditionally masculine way, which causes one of his major conflicts, in that he can’t be out as genderfluid or try to present in a more feminine way without risking his job(s). he defaults to using he/him because it’s easier but likes any pronouns :)
his magic type is air. he can harden air into a sword or shield (for example, but he can make just about anything), and can also animate it into familiars, though unlike other notable sorcerers he can’t keep them around forever because he has to spread his power quite thin to do so. he’s quite powerful, which makes him even more popular in sorcerer society, though he’s not exactly the biggest fan of his status!
he’s a big sweetheart really, though you wouldn’t know it from his photoshoots (they often make him appear more masculine than he really is). he has a pet rat (that i can’t remember the name of) that he keeps with him all the time, generally hidden away in a pocket or kept in his hoodie hood. it’s very well trained and he’s obsessed with rats in general.
as previously mentioned, he’s very handsome but he’s kind of embarrassed about it in day-to-day life and tries to brush it off as much as he can. he doesn’t like the amount of attention it gets him. outside of work he wants to be left alone most of the time LOL. also he’s very physically strong and can lift pretty heavy stuff, though he rarely utilizes that strength because. well. he’s a big softie. (he does pick up his girlfriend though. he’s not a fucking coward)
anyway he’s also kind of secretly a huge nerd. he’s really interested in human video games/media and other parts of human culture and if you ask him about it he’ll ramble for a LONG time. he wears leather/denim jackets a lot but he’ll wear nerdy ass graphic tees under them because it makes him happy
also his girlfriend is ayame, a demon who’s seb’s oc :3 i won’t get into her lore because 1. i only partially remember and 2. she belongs to seb, but she’s the first one to actively encourage raz presenting in a more feminine way. they’re this image (with ayame doing raz’s makeup obviously)
oh also, i forgot to do a physical description because i usually have art or screenshots or something. raz is tall and has tan/olive skin, with dark curly hair and freckles and a slightly hooked nose. he’s, uh, pretty obviously jewish. intentionally on my part (i was really into projecting my jewishness as much as possible onto my ocs when i was in high school). he also has a lot of dark body hair and he’s extremely sexy for that <3

Archmage Adelia Starweaver, Eternal Magus
ok the general info like usual: she's an arcane mage, an archmage, and she wields aluneth. she's a bisexual nonbinary woman and a complete disaster. she's a whirlwind of a woman and i'm absolutely obsessed w/ her.
personality-wise, adelia is a pile of masks so high that she doesn't really know who she is underneath them all anymore. she tries desperately to fit in and to pretend like nothing hurts or phases her, when in actuality every mean word clings to her like cobwebs. she puts on an act of being bubbly and loud and brash, trying to get people to like her, but the other people around her actually just can't stand her and think she's annoying. she's very much the "you could pour hot soup in my lap on purpose and i would apologize to you" type except it would be her laughing it off with a big smile and going to clean it up herself and never speaking of it again. this is how she copes. she's so normal lol <3
her childhood was fucked because her mother died shortly after adelia's younger sibling was born, and her dad basically put everything into trying to control adelia and "make her mom proud" or whatever. he tried to force her into druidism, and adelia was, uh. Not Happy! her autistic ass did not do well in druid school. the other students hated her guts and also made fun of her for the situation with her dad and that's when she picked up her Annoying Mask.
anyway, she was obsessed with stories about illidan. like, OBSESSED. special interest level obsessed. she felt validated and vindicated by illidan's rejection of druidism to become a mage, and she began studying magic in secret, all while disappointing her father and her teacher. despite the fact that illidan's life should've, by all means, been a cautionary tale, she did NOT take it as such, and look up to/aspired to be like him. she took the brunt of her father's anger/pressure/abuse, inadvertently protecting her younger sibling for the most part.
so! that was her life up until the draenei landed on azeroth. when the draenei came to darnassus, adelia met paleri (who avid grims oc fans will recognize as aemara's wife!) and they became fast friends. aemara had just disappeared to join the alliance military, and paleri was left aimless and lost, feeling like she couldn't protect her people as a simple engineer and wanted to become a paladin. adelia became determined to help her (had a bit of a crush on her too) and very quickly convinced paleri to go exploring with her. they left darnassus together, paleri determined to become a paladin and adelia determined to become a mage.
the funny thing about adelia, see, is that she's incredibly powerful. as in, her magic is like raw magic energy itself, unwieldy and volatile and unpredictable and dangerous. she has largely unparalleled skill at actually conjuring up the magic, to the point of eventually allowing her to become an archmage, but she's so fucking bad at controlling it. she's like a bomb about to go off at any given moment. so, when she and paleri go wandering together, there are a lot of. Incidents. lol
their journey takes them from burning crusade up to legion, all the while they made names for themselves as wandering mercenaries or minor heroes. and then, in legion, they join up with their respective class halls, pretty much go their separate ways, and begin climbing the ranks (surprisingly quickly).
adelia gets some bad flashbacks to childhood in the mage class hall. everyone fucking hates her. she doesn't know how to not be annoying because that's the mask she's used for so long so she just keeps up with it. khadgar is the only one who really tolerates her but even then he brushes her off (at first. they're kind of friends now). HOWEVER. when they're seeking champions to hunt down the artifacts, she gets chosen to hunt down aluneth. is this a little bit of a plot to get her killed? yes! but also she is the mage champion with the strongest ability with arcane magic, to a point that they can't just ignore her. so off she goes to hunt down the most volatile staff ever to exist lol
the aluneth questline goes as planned and everything and she picks up the staff. but it immediately starts berating her, as aluneth does. constantly. and at first she laughs it off like she always does, but after a while of the constant snide comments and contempt, she starts crying while trying to laugh it off, and aluneth suddenly gets slapped in the face. because, huh? what? this cringy loser girl who picked up the damn staff actually has feelings?
so it goes a little easier on her. just a little. and over time, aluneth starts to grow a bit of possessive attachment to her. a sort of "you're the only one who is strong enough to wield me so that means you're mine and i have to protect you" relationship. and at one point, adelia gets in a fight with her sort of nemesis (raquesis, one of august's ocs, a frost mage!) and is just kind of letting raquesis beat the shit out of her because adelia doesn't really have much fight in her when someone's being mean to her, and as she's about to pass out, aluneth fucking possesses her. and defeats raquesis on the spot. to save adelia.
it's like. all of the sudden, aluneth—this being made of pure, volatile arcane energy, that up until now was seemingly incapable of feelings other than contempt and pride—protects her. not for itself, but for her. no one has ever protected her before. she wakes up on the beach beaten half to death but alive and aluneth makes some smug comment like "you know, you can't rely on me to save you from everything" and adelia just starts wailing and hugging the staff as if it'll do anything.
she loves her fucked up magic staff :')
anyway uh she's still obsessive about illidan in legion so it's really funny that she's there when he's revived in the nighthold. she has some moments in the stuff i wrote about aquanthis in nighthold and it's all really fun. she's so silly. but yeah she's all starstruck by him
OH ALSO she ends up dating illidan's adopted daughter without knowing that and finds out later and it's REALLY FUNNY. adelia fidgeting like "can i meet him can i meet him can i meet him" trying to be so normal about meeting her hero. she meets him and he's like 😬 LMAO he does not like her. unfortunately
after legion she's just kinda, Around. when she's needed. she meets her little sibling again at some point and it's wild but that's something seb and i haven't developed too much so i don't wanna talk about it :P

How did Y'vett feel when Nymeia & Nophica departed into the aether? What is his relationship to them now?
oh there's a lot. this one's complicated. i'm honestly not even sure if i want to have them actually Do that in bhellverse canon but let's work with the idea that they do.
vett has always had a complicated relationship with his gods. he believes more in "the stars" as some kind of guiding something-or-other, not exactly a god but not exactly a non-entity, if that makes sense? but even that got taken away from him in endwalker. so there is some kind of fall-back onto his gods, and that's where it gets particularly complicated.
nymeia was his patron as a child, though he was never particularly devout, and his relationship to his faith in her was shaky at best going into ARR. sort of a "well, if you're the goddess of fate, why did you let this happen to me?" feeling. he picked up nophica as a patron in ARR when he needed something to cling to, missed his sister and his mother, and saw her as a maternal thing he could hold onto as a lonely, homesick 16 year old. belief in her felt like something close to safety when he had none.
he never relied on either of them too much, more like reached for faith in them when he was particularly low. his belief in the stars was stronger. it stuck with him more. but then when that got taken away in endwalker, it's like, well, what does he have left? nymeia and nophica.
he finally gets to meet them. gets to talk to them, to thank them, to be held by them in a real, tangible sense. and then it gets ripped out from under him suddenly, just like his own mother when he was young, and he is left floundering with no divine to turn to.
there's grief, of course. he's had to say goodbye to so many people, killed (or assisted in ending, in this case) so many that he didn't want to. this is not so different, after all, even if their souls returned to the lifestream as they intended. he didn't want them to go. some selfish part of him wanted them to stay near, always. but then there's also joy, and relief that they could finally be at peace, even if he will miss them. he hopes they'll be reborn someday, and that maybe he'll meet them in another life.
as for his relationship with them now... well, there isn't really one, is there? he's working to make peace with the loss of them, and trying to find a way to move forward with nothing to fall back on when he really needs it. he hopes for their happiness, more than anything, always.
this just reminds me how much i need to gpose them lol the fact that i haven't done that yet is a travesty

ohhhh yes. at the end of the day, aemara is not really noble; he is distinctly selfish (said with all the love in my heart) and, if push came to shove, he would sacrifice just about anything to make sure he could keep someone he loves close to him. we all know i'm referring to anduin, though the same is true for zephya and paleri. it's not really so much about them, though he does care for and love them, but moreso about the fact that he'd fall apart if he lost them. it's a self-defense tactic more than it is a sacrifice. i could see him killing innocents for anduin. and i don't think it would be hard for him. it's so funny. he's such a hypocrite. he needs therapy
🔪 - how do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? do they put themselves at blame?
scorched-earth violence, or complete meltdown, depending on the situation. sometimes both. no matter what, he blames himself. he's supposed to be able to protect EVERYONE he loves, dammit, and if he fails, even if there was no way he could do anything, he'd still somehow find a way to make it his fault.
✏️ - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?
pretty much the entirety of "eight" by sleeping at last. but particularly:
"I was just a kid who grew up strong enough to pick this armor up / And suddenly it fit"
as well as:
"I'm just a kid who grew up scared enough to hold the door shut / And bury my innocence / But here's a map, here's a shovel / Here's my Achilles' heel"
songs that make me so fucking sick in the head about him. literally i can't listen to it without immediately thinking of him and nearly bursting into tears.
☄️ - what do people assume about them? are they right?
people assume A LOT of things about him, and most of those things are wrong. some people think he's cold, and to some extent, he is, but he is genuinely so sweet and so gentle when he feels safe (which is rare). they assume he loves violence, but he doesn't; it's just the only thing he has. they assume that he'll hurt anyone if they so much as inconvenience him, but he's really not quick to anger unless you threaten someone he cares about.
and this one's a joke but i was joking about it in the car to my husband earlier so: people look at him and assume he always wants to be in control/dominant/etc because like. look at him. he's a general, and strict, and so untouchable. but he is actually so submissive behind closed doors. paleri thinks it's cute but he will vehemently deny it if anyone ever finds out. hahaha. sorry for the sex joke
💚 - what things make your oc feel comforted? hugs, kisses, food?
he does really like hugs/physical affection but it takes a lot for him to be comfortable with it with someone. but when he is comfortable with it, it makes him feel so safe. also, tea, and tending his plants, and warm food. also just sitting in the same room doing separate things with someone he loves. he likes just sitting in the same room reading separate books with anduin. it's like, "i know you're here and safe and i can protect you if i need to but i don't need to, so i just like knowing you're here with me" yknow. he's so sweet rrhrhrhhghghgh
💖 - are they a subtle or a showy lover?
he's usually a little embarrassed talking about mushy things, but if he gets a chance to show off his wife who he thinks is the most gorgeous and wonderful thing in the whole world, he'll take it. there's a scene that i wrote once where they're in a ballroom setting and he is being the biggest show-off in the entire place because he wants to show off his wife more than anything. he's not one for GRAND gestures but he will fondly make her breakfast and bring her flowers from his garden and talk about wanting to kiss the lipstick off her face if he gets bold enough. 🥰

😭 - what makes them cry? do they cry easily?
she usually doesn’t cry at sad things or when she’s actually upset. happy things will make her start absolutely ugly sobbing though. she’ll cry at a shitty “chick flick” type movie but not when something hurts her feelings. (there are exceptions, though; i think she’ll cry if she’s really angry)
😨 - when scared, do they go into “flight” or “fight”?
ooooh it so depends on what’s scaring her. if it’s some big monster or a fight or something, she goes into fight (she rarely backs down from a fight). interpersonal things she shuts down or tries to act like she doesn’t care in order to get away from whatever it is that’s scaring her.
🎭 - do they act differently around certain people? what’s different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

ADELIA QUEEN OF MASKING NUMERO UNO CHAMPION TEN YEARS RUNNING. she is a tangled web of masks so badly that she hardly knows who she is under all of them. the closest she gets to “the real her” is probably around her little sister, because she just reverts back to how she acted when she was younger (and starts actively worrying over her). around strangers and friends and enemies alike, she acts bubbly and unaffected, always too loud and too brash and generally considered “annoying”. overcompensating for fear and self-hatred by becoming as overbearing as possible. some of it is genuine (she really likes certain people and is genuinely just really excited about them or what they’re doing), but most of the time it’s because she thinks acting like that will make people like her, and it usually just makes them bully and hate her instead. :(

What's Aquanthis's favorite spot in all of Azeroth and why? What happened there?
if we're talkin azeroth specifically and not like, anywhere else, then it's probably either halfhill, the dreamgrove, or suramar. all for different reasons of course.
halfhill, because it was a safe haven for him when he ran away from home. the dreamgrove, because it's a place he can go to be alone if he needs to, and where he's loved no matter how broken he feels. and suramar, because that's where he found the courage to be truly selfless, and it's where he chose to finally settle down (to some extent; he's such a wanderer) with erestrois. :)
now, if we're talking just places in wow, then it's the queen's conservatory in ardenweald. it's technically the winter queen's garden, but she all but gave it to him, and he tends to it and the souls there. he befriended the spirits that chose to remain there, and returns there often because it's a place that feels like home. i always log him off there :')

okay so most of these are either generalized or only semi-serious (especially because i think a lot of my ocs wouldn't listen to the same stuff i do and/or these artists do not exist in their world) but the immediate first one that came to mind was:
aemara would be in the top 0.001% of mitski listeners because he just lies face down in bed blasting "nobody" for hours on end and it completely skews his statistics
additionally:
i'm sorry to say this but vett would listen to taylor swift. he loves cheesy love songs so there's probably a lot of old love songs and pop songs and stuff but don't ask me to give you specifics. he'd also listen to mimi (the vocaloid artist) and other things in that vein.
aquanthis's has had owl city as his top artist for years now because he listens to fireflies and goes "he's just like me for real". also a LOT of cavetown and sleeping at last. this is entirely based off of his playlist sorry. he probably has like, TWO pop punk songs on his wrapped that look completely out of place among the rest of the stuff and it's very "i hate my mom" type shit. his music taste is the closest to mine KSJDHKJSHJK
solomon's is a lot of punk/pop punk and old rock and loud, busy music. also britney spears/kesha/similar things. stuff you'd scream in to in the car. yknow. with some hozier mixed in there (and if you asked him about it he'd lie and say lavern was using his phone or something). his wrapped could be labeled as "songs to touch the stove to. among other things"
i think zephya would be into musicals. i won't give specifics at risk of outing my own taste in musicals but know that her wrapped is like 80% musicals and then the rest is disco and bubblegum pop. it is skewed heavily toward like three songs she puts on repeat and sings very loudly in the shower.
lastly. vincent is firmly in alt-rock-ville. he shares his wrapped and you look at it and go "why is all of this so loud and horny". he would be happy about you describing it like that.
i know this turned into me just talking about their music tastes but like. idk how to give statistics for these things LMFAO
