Honestly, all AC Games try bring something new to the table, if they were all cookie cutter it would be kinda boring.
Personally, I liked AC Odyssey, but that's because I also like open world games, it's also bloody huge.
I will defend it with my soul.
It always baffles me when "true fans" say that Assassin's Creed Odyssey "isn't a real Assassin's Creed game" just because you don't play as a member of the brotherhood of assassins.
By that logic, the games Star Wars: Dark Forces, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter aren't real Star Wars games because you don't play as a Jedi.
Do you see how stupid that sounds?

There's too many ophans in AC Valhalla, I know the main quest awaits me, but I really just want Evior to build an orphanage for these damn kids.

anyway i’ll never understand why connor doesn’t go after washington once he learns that he’s the one responsible for ziio’s death, meanwhile he insisted on following through on killing charles lee who, while annoying and unpleasant, wasn’t even involved. like at a certain point his actions don’t make sense and then it seems almost like he proves haytham’s point that he doesn’t truly know why he’s fighting or who he’s fighting for. killing off the templars individually but leaving those who are a real threat to his people and all indigenous people in north america (american/colonial settlers/the new us government)? then he talks about protecting liberty? then what, kill haytham to fulfill achilles’ own personal vendetta? haytham proved to not be a threat. he proved he didn’t kill ziio. he saved connor from execution. he died for him. genuinely what the fuck is going on at ubisoft lmao

35hrs into AC Valhalla and my only criticism so far is its depiction of British-Irish Wolves but that's soley because that now extinct subspecies is my personal blorbo.
Every time I have to kill a wolf, it makes me mildly depressed.

A bit belated, but happy birthday to Ratonhnhaké:ton/Connor.
My favorite character in all of assassin’s creed from the first game I played, and a character that inspires me to keep holding on.
Despite everything he has gone through, and how the world tried to beat its own cruelty into him ever since he was a child, he still keeps hope and fought tooth and nail for a future worth living in. This could probably be said for multiple assassins, but Ratonhnhaké:ton’s story just felt… so much more rooted and real to me. It’s tragic, but the way he perseveres for those he love will never cease to inspire me.
There is nothing naive or weak about kindness and fighting for what’s right.
