Hereticism does not exist. Hermeticism, however, does.

The Allegorical Portrait of Elizabeth I with Old Father Time at her right and a personification of Death looking over her left shoulder, implies that she is close to her death on first glance. This is more likely than not the intended meaning as allegory and symbology from this period often has, to the modern eye, opposite meanings. This also implies that the creator of this portrait did this far before she actually died in 1603 but posted it later so he wouldn't be punished for the connotations it has (had). There are two cherubs above her head that have removed her crown, perhaps taking away some of the incredible weight she has borne in a sign of Divine sympathy and also signifying she has and does reign with the approval of Higher Powers, giving reference to her role as Head of the Church of England and her insistence on not not letting trifles of differences between the religions weigh her down as it had her predecessors.
It could also be read that the crown, which is not St. Edward's Crown, used since the 13th century at the Monarch's Coronation, is being placed upon her head by the cherubim.
While it could be read as a frail woman worn by time and travails, this is actually the opposite. It shows her cares being delegated, in concorde, with quite disparate characters assisting a ruler by Divine right. Notice how she is able to rest her head in this moment and the slightest of smiles, absent of conceit, as her wisdom is acknowledged by different spheres.
This, perhaps, is quite different from other extant portraiture in that it shows her in a relaxed, content state.
("English School" painting, dated around 1610)
