Initially, Starscream organized Shockwave's release using the cryotube's remote. These scenes were cut for time fairly early on. While they were a lot of fun, they took up a fair amount of screentime and distracted from the main thrust of the episode. So, while I'm sad I didn't get to see my boards of my fave murder-jet make it to screen, I have to agree that the cut was, ultimately, the right decision.
The first sequence here takes place after Megatron puts a stop to the kid's game of pass the Allspark, which was boarded by Marvin Madrid. You can catch his drawing fading out at the beginning. The second sequence takes place after Thrash leaves the group to brood.
As usual, we didn't have the voice recordings during the storyboard phase. But, they did come in during the rough animatic phase! So, you all can thank our animatic editor, Jeff Newman, for the dulcet tones of emergency sirens and Steve Blum!
listen... if my wildest expectations and greatest dreams come true and hot rod/rodimus shows up in earthspark... he can't just stumble onto the maltos' property or come in some generic ship or escape pod or even the fucking lost light.
Congratulations! Hasbro has agreed to let you write for a Transformers story! However, there's a catch. As you're a new writer, they aren't ready to trust you with their most popular/lucrative characters yet.
You must pitch a cast that does not include:
Optimus Prime
Megatron
Bumblebee
Starscream
Ratchet
Shockwave
Wheeljack
Soundwave
Grimlock
Arcee
If you wish to have human characters, you may not reference Spike Witwicky
do you like transformers: animated? here’s my collection of all episodes, shorts, allspark almanacs, tie-in comics, manga and titan magazines for TFA archived and available for download!
There are a lot of little lines in TFA that sort of tip you off that something isnt quite right with the "heroic autobots" and it just gets more pronounced once you've noticed it. Like everything about Optimus's speech in the first episode. "We're all cogs in the great big autobot machine." Emphasizing the needs of the collective over everything else (and notice that this is apparently something he says a lot. Something he's internalized). "Don't try to be a hero, it's not in your programming." Idk bro sounds like functionism to me. But probably the most unsettling line is Ratchet's implication that they can just.. delete emotions. Just run a program and bam! That feeling of dissatisfaction with your lot in life? Gone. Thats a big old red flag if Ive ever seen one.
We find it extremely funny how apparently the way Transformers writers solved the weird discrepancy between how many male and female Cybertronians there are was to just go. "Hey, they're an asexual species anyways. What if they're all born with masc-leaning presentation, but once they came in contact with aliens that have sexual dimorphism, some of them were like 'Yoooooo girl is an option?????' and started going by she." So every femformer is canonically a trans girl now.
