Zanarin struggles to take care of plants simply because he isn't home as often as needed for a good many of those that need regular care. The same goes for pets, though he had them as a child and took the best care of them that a child still learning can do. Help from his parents was of course required. He would enjoy another pet when he has more time for one.
As for children, his work has occasionally had him in charge of a small child for a short period of time and he usually does very well with them. He enjoys interacting with little ones a great deal and puts his full focus on them, listening to their little stories very seriously and treats them like tiny people with their own agency. This is fairly common behavior among his people given children are regarded as something very special, nearly sacred.
Teenagers are a harder matter but he still does his best to work with them respectfully and with patience when he has to.

Can they take care of a plant? What about a pet? What about a child?
Ask them to describe their love interest.
Do they look good in red?

Who will they take advice from, no matter what it is? Who won’t they take advice from, no matter what it is?
Describe them in three words. Now let them describe themself in three words.

Do they like being called pet names? Do they call other people pet names? What’s their go-to?
Stability or novelty?
Honesty or charity?
Safety or possibility?
Talent or effort?
Forgiveness or vengeance (or…)?
Would they date a fixer-upper?
What recurring dreams do they have?
What would they do if they knew it would be forgiven?
