dont even have the words to describe my reaction to the way that white mcr fans act with the rising sun!!! its fucking horrible, it makes me sick, it ignores the brutal fucking history of japanese imperialism. they literally tried to turn taiwan into a fully japanese country by genocide and assimilation of indigenous peoples, and treatment of the other ethnic groups. they took our men as soldiers for their war efforts while they suppressed the cultures of all taiwanese ethnic groups, some more violently than others. my own fucking family went through this so it is literally a slap in the fucking face to see how people are treating this. this doesnt even mention what happened in korea. sickening. as a taiwanese person i dont have anything else left to say.

the thing is, also... every discussion about Whether The MCU Is Garbage or Is Disney Irredeemably Evil or Has Star Wars Gone On Too Long or Why Does It Feel Like There's Been Just Three Shows On American TV For The Past 3 Decades inevitably ends up at "hey but don't shame people for wanting to have fun and escape the continuous nightmare of late capitalism for 2 hours a night" and like. fair. being effortlessly entertained is a valid desire that deserves to be fulfilled. but the thing is. and I really don't wanna be That Guy but. if you're coming back home from your soul-crushing corporate job into your alienated nuclear household, tired from a busy day of doing some bullshit to make a living, and you feel dead inside, and your idea of escape is to tune into the next installment of something that's not really cinema as much as like, a long serialised commercial for the fast fashion items with the popular character of the month, then I'm sorry bro but you're not really going anywhere. you're not escaping, you're sinking deeper in. and look. it's your god given right to watch schlocky TV and then go read fanfic about it. but if you're wondering why all this dazzling entertainment still leaves you feeling so empty you just wanna scream and scream and scream, then you might actually have an acute case of going too long without consuming any media that has an intent beyond draining your money and time and a formula beyond regurgitating what sold best last year

whats homestuck- i never heard of it
Homestuck is a webcomic, and it’s one of the absolute best.
It’s one of the funniest, most interesting stories ever written, and it investigates storytelling, canonicity, and narrative in intriguing ways that I’ve never seen done better. If deep dive analysis and taking notes while you read is your kinda thing, then Homestuck may be the story for you. The dialogues are believable and beautiful, the intricate interlocking narratives are exquisitely crafted -- it’s genuinely one of my favourite pieces of fiction ever written
That being said, before I go and recommend it to anybody, I’ll have to give them a bunch of warnings, too -- like there’s some abusive relationships, pretty darn graphic depictions of violence, the whole thing is chock FULL of flashing images, and also it’s from around ~2009, so a lot of the earlier stuff has some language that I’d consider ableist, and there’s some yikes jokes here and there -- if you can stomach this content, and look past its flaws, then it’s probably for you.
What is it about? It’s about a group of Internet friends who play a videogame together that brings about the end of the world.... and a whole bunch of other stuff.

We need to have a nomination for “Stupidest thing Tumblr.com has ever believed” and just move into an official Top 10 List.
For my nominations, I’m putting up:
If you eat a chocolate bar a very specific way, you will break physics and get infinite chocolate.
or
It is impossible that you spelled “Berenstain Bears” wrong and is, instead, more likely that the universe fractured into separate, overlapping realities in the last 20 years.
I can’t decide which is more beautiful. It’s why we need a vote.

Traveling Distances and Times by Sword
I've been working on a fic for a while set in the CQL/Untamed universe and at the external crisis I needed to set how long travel takes by sword.
So I ended up making a bunch of measurements and calculations to give me the time it would take from one sect to another. Because I had everyone converging on Lotus Pier that's how this was broken down, but you could take the locations on the google map and just see what the distance is between those two.
Hope people find this helpful.
Notes:
I eyeballed the locations of where to place the sects by looking at the CQL map here and checking for corresponding places on a google map of China, then had google tell me the distance between those points, and how long by car and walking it would take to get from one to the other.
I'm not sure how Google calculates the time by car, probably by dividing the distance by the max speed on each road and accounting for traffic.
I then determined that the absolute max speed of sword travel would be 110 kph because any faster would probably be dangerous even with a core.
If you want to calculate your own times with this info just pick the kph speed (metric system only baby!) and divide the speed into the distance.
Yes I did put Lotus Pier in Wuhan, a place most of us have only heard about in the last year. It was an accident, it was just a prominent mark in the right(ish) area.
I kept the car and walking calculations to help me keep it realistic -also gives you a good idea how hard it would be for the common people to get anywhere.
The font is Comic Sans because it's a font designed to be readable for people with dyslexia and the like, please don't @ me!
Image description and details under cut.

[An image of a table calculating the time and distance between places in CQL. It's black with white writing.]
Tianjin (Coast) to Shandong (Qín Sect): 440km distance, 4 hours 43 minutes by car, 91 hours walking, 4 hours by sword at max speed 110kph.
Shandong (Qín Sect) to Wuhan (Lotus Pier): 1104km distance, 11 hours 47 minutes by car, 213 hours walking, 10 hours 2 minutes by sword at max speed 110kph.
Jīning (Lánlíng) to Wuhan (Lotus Pier): 633km distance, 7 hours 56 minutes by car, 132 hours by walking, 5 hours 45 minutes by sword at max speed 110kph.
Hangzhou (Gūsū Lán) to Wuhan (Lotus Pier): 769km distance, 8 hours 6 minutes by car, 154 hours by walking, 6 hours 59 minutes by sword at max speed 110kph.
Yibin (Méishān Yú) to Wuhan (Lotus Pier): 1330km distance, 13 hours 48 minutes by car, 394 hours by walking, 12 hours 5 minutes by sword at max speed 110kph.
Yichang (Yílíng) to Wuhan (Lotus Pier): 340km distance, 3 hours 55 minutes by car, 70 hours by walking, 3 hours 5 minutes by sword at max speed 110kph.

Hey I know people mean well but y’all need to watch how you tag peoples donation posts. Like, I know it’s important to tag possible triggers for your followers but when you tag a post by someone trying to escape an abusive situation as “abuse tw”, due to blacklist functions you are making it so their post doesn’t reach as wide of an audience and therefore they are less likely to get the help they need to escape their situation.
I understand that it can be distressing to see their post but imagine how the person making it feels living in that situation and not being able to reach the audience they deserve to be able to reach for help? Like, if the post has graphic details or photos, I get tagging it. But if someone is like “I’m trying to escape my abuser and improve my situation”, you really probably shouldn’t tag it with a tw.
Obviously y’all can do what you want but this is just some food for thought. It’s hard enough to ask for and receive help on this site so maybe make sure you’re not contributing to that.
