1NC0M1NG CH4T FR0M . . . . . ANGEL JADA
guys, here is a sneak peak of a one piece x modern day story im working on. it's a zoro x reader and the preview's only about 500 words long. enjoy ;)
"IT SEEMS LIKE (Y/N) IS UNSTOPPABLE TONIGHT!" Mr. Jinbei announced, quite literally shouting into the microphone.
Out the corner of your eye, you noticed a spike getting set up on the other side of the court, the other team seeming to try and shift formation discreetly.
Thinking on your feet, you quickly sprinted over to the other side and jumped, blocking the ball and earning another point.
The crowd went wild, the gym rattling with howls and shouts of excitement as your team set up again.
"Nice save," Koala smiled, giving you a high five.
"Thanks," you panted, wiping your sweat as you headed back to your position.
"THANKS TO HER QUICK THINKING, (Y/N) HAS SCORED YET ANOTHER POINT FOR THE SEA KINGS!"
"GO, (Y/N)-SWAAAAAAAN," Sanji cheered from the stands, doing his noodle-armed dance.
"WITH JUST 10 SECONDS LEFT ON THE CLOCK, WILL THE SEA KINGS BE ABLE TO PULL THROUGH THIS TIE AND SECURE THEIR SPOT IN THE ALL-LINE SEMI-FINALS?!"
The whistle blew, and the other team served the ball, quite weakly.
The two teams had been inching points on each other for the near entirety of the game, and it was clear to see that everyone was on their last leg.
Including you.
"You know what to do, Robin," you sighed, cracking your knuckles as you got yourself ready for the final play.
"On it," she nodded, turning to Koala's pass and raising her arms, setting the volleyball to you.
"Go ahead, (y/n)," she smiled.
Your eyes narrowed, and a cocky smirk rose to your lips as the ball floated into the perfect position.
'That's game.'
The crowd screamed as you broke into a sprint, bending down into a deep squat and shooting yourself up into a high jump.
"COULD THIS BE?! (Y/N) IS ABOUT TO PERFORM HER SIGNATURE SPIKE!" Jinbei gasped, standing up from his announcer's chair.
"THE VERY REASON SHE'S KNOWN AS THE GRAND LINE'S ANGEL! LOOK AT HER TAKE FLIGHT!"
"GO, (Y/N)!" Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji shouted, arms interlocked as they jumped with joy, their faces painted with the school colors and your jersey number.
You arched your back, winding up your arm for one monster slam.
Your eyes flicked over to the stands, searching for the green head of hair that belonged to your boyfriend.
And there you found him, smirking proudly.
Zoro nodded, shooting you a firm nod and a thumbs up.
That was all the confirmation you needed.
"LUCKY PUNCH!" You exclaimed, striking down the ball, making a perfect spike.
It slammed into the ground with a deafening crack, the gym going silent before erupting in roars of joy.
Your teammates rushed you in a giant group hug, hoisting you up on their shoulders with howls of excitement.
"(Y/N) (L/N) HAS JUST SCORED THE GAME WINNING POINT! THIS HAS SECURED THE SEA KINGS' SPOT IN THE ALL-LINE SEMI-FINALS!" Jinbei bellowed, loosening his tie.
"FOLKS, WE ARE WATCHING HISTORY IN THE MAKING! THIS WILL BE GRAND-LINE HIGH'S FIRST TIME GOING TO THE SEMI-FINALS IN 20 YEARS! WITH THIS POWERHOUSE TEAM, THE DREAM OF RETURNING THE ONE PIECE TROPHY TO ITS RIGHTFUL HALLS MAY FINALLY BECOME REALITY!"
tell me what u think??

Classes had long since ended, and after having a much needed talk with your History teacher, you decided it was time to start heading home.
Wanting a shortcut, you cut through the courtyard to get to the back entrance of the school, only to find a green-haired boy sitting under a tree, fast asleep.\
Huh?
You walked up to him curiously, not expecting him to open his eyes.
“I’m napping,” he snapped,
He seemed annoyed that you woke him up.
“I just wanted to check on you,” you replied.
He scoffed, “And why would you need to check on me?”
He stood up slowly and brushed off the dirt on his pants, sighing, seeming even more annoyed that you were still there.
You took a deep breath, doing your best not to react to his attitude.
“You looked like you had been asleep for a while. I just wanted to make sure you were all right,” you repeated.
“And what would you have done if I wasn’t? Huh?” He asked, folding his arms, grey eyes locking onto you for an answer.
“I would’ve called someone to help and stayed with you until you got better,” you answered, simply.
“Ha, that’s cute,” he scoffed again, dawning a slight smirk, “You’re a kind person, I’ll give you that. Now go away. I want to go back to sleep.”
He sat back down, tucking his hands behind his head.
“Too bad,” you shrugged, sitting down next to him, “I’m staying right here.”
If looks could kill, you would have been dead.
He sighed in annoyance, “Go. Away.”
His stern voice was demanding.
In the short time you had known him, it was probably the most emotion you had heard out of him yet.
You smiled, innocently, “Nope.”
He narrowed his eyes at you, “You’re annoying.” he said plainly, as if giving a fact you couldn’t argue.
“Y’know it’s rude to interrupt someone’s sleep?”
“It’s even ruder to leave someone to sleep by themselves outside where they could possibly freeze to death,” you stated plainly as well.
“You really can’t take a hint, can you?” He asked, frustrated.
He was now getting quite agitated with you, it showing with the tenseness he now had.
Yet, he still had control of his emotions as he could tell he was starting to lose it.
He took a deep breath in and out, turning his head away from you.
“Just... let me sleep, okay? I promise if I die from the cold, you can tell everyone what a bad person I am,” he sighed.
You raised a brow, turning your head in confusion, “Why would I do that? You’re not a bad person. Not to my knowledge.”
He stayed silent and closed his eyes, clearly trying to be patient with you.
You could tell he wanted nothing more than for you to leave, he was only giving you more chances to out of his own good will.
Because as much as he’d hate to admit it, he was a genuinely nice person.
Still, he had an unreadable expression on. One that was hard to decipher but you could tell it had some displeasure in it.
“I’ll be quiet and stay with you until you’re ready to go,” you caved, pulling out a book from your backpack.
He opened an eye to see you holding the book, sighing again.
“What book are you reading?” He asked plainly in a curious tone.
Maybe you had a chance to turn this around.
You smiled, “It’s about pirates.”
He suddenly had a look of interest come to his face and gave you a smirk.
“Is it now? What’s the book called? I might have to check it out.”
Your smile grew, “It’s called the Adventures of the Grandline. It’s a colection of stories about a whole bunch of pirates searching for this treasure hidden at the end of the sea. My friend Robin gifted it to me.”
His eyes widened slightly, and you could practically feel the excitement radiating from him.
You had definitely caught his interest.
“Wow, your friend Robin must be a very good gift giver to give you a book about pirates,” he chuckled in amusement.
“Well, she knows how much I’m fascinated with them. Especially their sword fights,” you dreamily sighed.
His interest was now piqued even further.
“Is it only pirate sword fights you enjoy? Or are there other things you like about the topic?” He asked.
You were proud. You were able to bring this grumpy and angsty boy out of his mood.
He was enjoying the conversation, and didn’t seem like he wanted it to end just yet.
“Not only that, but their honor and loyalty to their crew. It’s something to be admired,” you answered.
He geeked,” Well said. And what about their courage to stand up to others? Doesn’t that make you respect ‘em?”
You nodded quickly, “Definitely. the freedom that they have is something I’m really envious of.”
You dreamily smiled.
“To have no responsibility to anyone else except yourself, and maybe some choice people.”
“That sounds like the dream life, huh?” He chuckled and nodded in agreement with you. “To be able to just go where you want, when you want, do whatever you want? It is really something worth envy.
He looked out into the horizon.
“I guess you could say it’s something I dream about often as well.”
“Really?” You asked, turning to him with sparking eyes.
He smirked, “You think I’m kidding? If I could just drop everything right now, take a sailboat and live a life of adventure and freedom, I would do it in a heartbeat.”
He turned to you with a sincere smile.
“I think anyone who doesn’t think that way is just scared to be a little bit selfish and put themselves first.”
You smiled back, “What’s your name, Mosshead?”
“The name’s Zoro,” he nodded, not expecting you to guess his nickname right of the bat.
“What’s yours? I don’t think I’ve asked yet.”
“(y/n)!” You blushed, embarrassed, “But some of my friends nicknamed me Angel for....whatever reason.”
“(y/n)....that’s a beautiful name,” he smiled, testing out the word on his tongue. “Your friends must think you’re petty angelic. Maybe the ame fits you more than you think.”
Zoro added the last bit with a chuckle, trying to tease you.
You blushed, “Speaking of which, I will say there’s a good amount of romance in this book, too.”
His ear perked at this.
“Romance? You mean between pirates?” He suddenly had a hint of dreaminess in his expression, “That sounds interesting. How do they play it out? I imagine it must be complicated.”
You nodded, “It is. Most of them struggle between their loyalty as a member of their crew, and their loyalty as a lover.”
“I see. So basically it’s like every pirate’s dilemma,” he agreed. “Choosing their loyalty to the crew, or their own personal feelings. It must make for some interesting stories.”
He was beginning to see the appeal of these romance novels
“Which do you personally think is more important? The loyalty to your crew or to your lover?”
“I think it depends on the person’s personal values, and the promises they’ve made to others. One thing you can’t do is break your word. The book says a person’s word is the only thing completely owned in this world,” you answered.
“Pretty wise. You seem to have your values set straight,” Zoro smiled. “You already seem honest and loyal by the sound of it.”
“I’m sure your friends are lucky to have you.”
You blushed, “I’ve been told so. But what do you think? When it comes down to it, what do you think a pirate should choose? His loyalties or his personal relationships?”
He let out a little chuckle while thinking it over.
“I see myself as a loyal person, so to me there would be no question. I would always pick my crew. That may seem cruel and selfish, but you would just end up with a bunch of pirates who only cared about themselves if we always put our hearts first. The crew should always be top priority,” he explained.
You nodded, approving his valid answer.
“What about you? What would you choose in that situation?”
You paused for a moment, allowing yourself to think.
“i would have to choose the same thing. Though that wouldn’t mean I wouldn’t care about the person any less,” you answered, allowing your gaze to travel over to the green-haired boy.
Though....you didn’t exactly know why.
He gave out a short laugh at your last comment.
”Is that so? I’m flattered that I would be the person to come into your mind during a hypothetical question,” he said in a teasing tone as he smiled at you.
You blushed horribly, giving him a playful sock in the arm, “Who said I was talking about you?”
He cocked a brow, smirking.
“Well then, did you have a specific person in mind then, or were you just being a little ease and didn’t have anyone in mind?” he asked with an amused look.
You smirked, “Maybe a bit of both.”
Looking up at the sky, you realized just how late it had gotten.
“Damn, I lost track of time. I gotta get home. It’s already getting pretty dark.”
He chuckled again, “You are a little tease, aren’t you....”
He looked up at the sunset with you, letting out a sigh.
“I should probably start heading home, too. Want me to walk you?” He asked as he stood up, stretching.
You stood up as well and flashed him a thankful smile, making him blush, “Yes, please. Thank you.”
“Well then,” he smirked, holding out his elbow for you to take, “I suppose I should be a gentleman and walk you home proper.”
He couldn’t believe it, but he was truly having an amazing time talking to you.
You smirked back, linking arms with the boy, “Lead the way, Mosshead.”
He smiled softly at the use of his nickname, a light dusting of pink gracing it’s way onto his cheeks.
“As you wish, my lady,” he joked, beginning to walk you back home, leading you through the path to the exit of the school.
“Hey, could I see your schedule?” You asked. “Maybe we have the same classes.”
He blushed again as he reached into his pocket and grabbed his schedule, a cheeky grin on his face.
“Sure, what are you planning to stalk me in class now?” He teased with a smirk.
You blushed in embarrassment, taking the paper from him, “No! I was just curious.”
“Sureee.”
“Hmm. We have English, Math, P.E, and Japanese 101 together, but that’s about it,” you thought out loud, ignoring his comment.
“Guess you’ll be seeing more of me around school,” he smiled, “But hey, maybe I can help you study for those classes in the library? I’m pretty good at Jap 101,” he offered.
You smirked, taking your opportunity to tease.
“That depends. I don’t know why, but something about you tells me that you’re horrible with directions. Will you even be able to find the library?” You cocked a brow.
He chuckled, noting how bold you could be sometimes in the back of his head.
“I’ll admit. I’m not the best with directions, but I do think I could atleast find my way to the library. It might take me a couple tries, but I’ll get there eventually,” he shrugged.
“See? I’m an amazing judge of character,” you smiled proudly.
He rolled his eyes, jokingly, “You always playful like this?”
“Yup,” you nodded, popping the p.
“Well, I guess we can count on having fun together,” he smiled.
Count on?
“I wanna know more about you though. Do you have any other friends? I see you hanging out with those two boys Luffy and Usopp a lot,” you asked.
He chuckled, “Yeah, they’re my friends. I’ve been with ‘em for a long time. I have other friends, too, but most of my closest ones are part of my crew. They’re like family to me. We’ve stuck through thick and thin together.”
“Crew?” You smirked. “You guys a band of pirates or somethin’?”
“That’s exactly what we are. I’m amazed that you’re so perceptive,” he teased.
“Do you think pirates are bad?”
You smiled, “Well in your case, no. Your group actually sounds like a dream. Wish I could join.”
He laughed, “Would you really want to give up your life to run out and sail on the sea with a bunch of pirates? Y’know, it takes a different kind of person to live that lifestyle.”
“I’m more enamored with the freedom aspect. If I get that part, then I’m willing to put up with anything else thrown at me,” you shrugged.
“I see. So really it’s just the idea of living a life of freedom that appeals to you?”
You nodded, “Mhmm. Freedom is amazing. No rules, no responsibilities. You’re free to do whatever you want, eat whater you want, go wherever you want, hangout with whoever you want,” you thoughtlessly glanced over at him once again, “like whoever we want.”
His eyes widened for a second as you gave that glance, befor ehe quickly recovered.
“So you’re saying you have your sights set on me?” He asked with a smirk.
“Well, today just keeps getting better and better. At this rate you’re gonna have me fallin’ for you before the day’s over.”
You were speechless. Unable to do anything but blush and turn away.
He chuckled.
“You’re adorable,” he teased and smiled. “I know I’m a forward guy, but is it too soon for me to ask to go out with you? We did just meet today.”
He spoke in a joking tone, yet you could see from his eyes that he was clearly being serious about the offer.
And while your heart was practically jumping at the chance, your head wanted to take things slow.
And your head seemed to win.
“How ‘bout we get to know each other a little more, then go from there,” you smiled, the two of you walking up the porch steps to your house.
He nodded,
“Fair enough. How about I get your phone number and text you later?” He smirks.
You blushed, “Definitely.”
Quickly whipping out a pen, you scribbled your number onto his hand and gave him a quick peck on the cheek once you were finished.
You gave him a sincere smile.
“See you at school, Mosshead.”
His breath hitched, and his hand rose to feel at the place your lips once were, his cheeks turning a beautiful shade of crimson.
No more big talk now, eh?
Once he composed himself, he smiled at you fondly, a smirk growing on his lips.
“Yeah...see you around... angel,” he replied in a soft tone before turning around and walking away.
Though once he got a safe distance away, he glanced back at your house, allowing his blush to show freely.
He had never had someone affect him in this way.
Two hours ago, he never would’ve dreamed of ever feeling anything for you, the girl who ruined his nap.
But now, you were all he could think about, taking up space in his brain like clutter in an attic.
You were almost unreal, ethereal even.
Your friends were right. You really were an angel.

It was yet another eventful night on the Sunny.
Having completed another successful mission, the Strawhats celebrated the only way they knew how....with a party.
And while you were enjoying the festivities, and the company of your dearest friends, the atmosphere was beginning to get overwhelming.
So you decided to take a breather, heading up to the Crow’s Nest for some fresh air.
Not realizing that a certain mossheaded swordsman had noticed your absence.
He climbed up to the Crow’s Nest as well, smiling to see you sitting down on the couch, looking out the window and onto the horizon.
“Whatcha doin’ up here? Not enjoying the party?” He asked, smirking.
You smiled, “Eh, needed some air. Love the guys but they can be a little tiring, y’know?”
Zoro nodded, chuckling at your valid answer.
“I hear ya...they can really get under your skin sometimes, but ya know...they’re nice company,” he smiled, “And plus, they make for good drinking buddies.”
He walked up to you, “Mind if I join ya?”
“Not at all,” you assured, patting the spot next to you.
Zoro sat down next to you, sighing and taking a long swig from the bottle of sake he had.
“So...anything you’ve wanted to talk about? Anything bothering you?” He asked, cocking a brow.
You guiltily smiled, rubbing your arm nervously, “You always seem to know when I need someone to talk to.”
And it was true.
Somehow, Zoro was always there to lend an ear or a shoulder, even when you did your best to hide how you felt.
Knowing when you were in distress was like a 6th sense, an instinct.
“Well, it’s my job, y’know? It’s my duty as your first mate to be there and listen to whatever’s on your mind,” he placed his drink down, “So...if there’s anything you wanna talk about, I’m right here.”
You sighed, and turned to look out at the horizon again, “Do you ever think about where you would be if you didn’t become a pirate?”
Zoro sighed, closing his eyes and leaning back in his seat.
“If I didn’t become a pirate...?” He muttered, stroking his chin.
“Well...in my case, I’d probably be sailing the seas, training and searching for Mihawk.”
He turned to you and smirked, “How about you? Anything you picture yourself as instead of a member of a pirate crew?”
You smiled at the thought, “.....Maybe a mother. I’ve always loved kids.”
Zoro chuckled, nudging your arm.
“You’d make a great one, y’know? I could see you in the future, having your own family. You’d have to have a special someone though, right? Any idea what they look like?” He asked, raising his eyebrow.
“Well....” you glanced over at him, him catching on to the flicker of something in your eye, “I’d have my husband, who goes to work and takes care of the monetary stuff.”
You smiled, “Then you’d have me, taking care of the seaside house, and the two little kids. Call me cliche but that kinda life was always sorta my dream.”
Zoro nodded thoughtfully, his gaze fixed on the horizon, trying to figure out what that flicker was.
“Mmm...yeah, I can picture it. That’s a good life, y’know. It’s a simple one, too. Ain’t that all we could ever ask for?” He said, flashing you his trademark grin.
“Maybe in the future, you’d get to live that dream, too.”
With that, your expression fell, reality coming back and waking you out of your fantasy.
“I’m not so sure. I’m a pirate now, and I have loyalties to Luffy. However long he plans to travel is however long I have to stay. ....Don’t get me wrong though, I love our captain and the crew. And I’ll see my commitment to the end.”
“Mmm...” Zoro looked at you with a soft smile, “Well, I’m sure that when our journey eventually does come to a close and all our ambitions are met, the crew will still stick together. Luffy’s already made that promise, remember?”
He noticed your still sullen form, and decided to try another approach.
“But in the meantime, I guess we can’t worry too much about the future,” he said, giving a small laugh, “The real fun is in the journey anyways, right?”
You smiled, “Yeah....”
You suddenly remembered something, and it caused you to glow in embarrassment, catching the attention of the swordsman.
“Though.....would it be awkward if I said I originally joined Luffy ‘cause of a guy?” You awkwardly laughed.
“...A guy?” Zoro asked, cocking a brow.
“You joined the crew ‘cause of a guy?”
Your blush doubled tenfold, “Well....remember all the family stuff I was talking about? I figured that I could....” you covered your face in embarrassment.
“.....Find a man at sea.”
Zoro raised an eyebrow, before his confusion slowly grew into a smirk, “Did you find one?”
“If you don’t mind me asking, of course. I’m not gonna make a big deal of it or anything, I’m just curious,” he assured, “Who’s the lucky guy? One of our crewmates? Or a guy you met on one of our journeys?”
You moved your hands off your face, still avoiding eye contact with the man, “Yeah, actually, I think so. He’s a member of the crew.”
“A member of the crew? And who might that be?” Zoro asked with a slight smirk.
“Or are you gonna keep a secret from me?”
Somehow, someway, you managed to get back a shred of confidence, shooting him a teasing smirk, “Eh, I don’t know if I feel like tellin’ just yet. I do have another question for you though.”
Zoro chuckled, taking a swig of his sake bottle, “Yeah, go ahead. Shoot.”
“What’s your ideal domestic life? I already told you mine.”
He thought for a moment, rubbing his chin.
“My ideal domestic life...?” he pondered, “Well...it’d probably start off with a family, similar to yours. Then, when the kids grow up, I’d probably get them into sword-fighting, like me. I guess that’s kinda boring, but I’m more of a simple guy.”
You smirked, “Any women you have in mind for the position of your partner? Anyone I know?”
Zoro smiled, closing his eye, “I ain’t gonna lie to you...I might have someone in mind. But she could be taken though...and it’s someone you might know.”
He smirked, glancing at you with a knowing look and moving ever so close.
“What you think of the idea of being Mrs. Roronoa?” He asked, winking.
You practically turned into a cherry, but still did your best to keep your cool.
“You’re smooth with it, aren’t you?” You smiled.
Zoro laughed, a sound that nearly made you turn to butter.
“Well, I don’t know about smooth, but I know how to flirt,” he chuckled.
“And I gotta say...ya seem to be enjoying it.”
Guilty, you could do nothing but smile abashedly, turning away from him.
The two of you laughed in your shared embarrassment, before allowing the air to become silent once again.
Zoro sighed, looking out at the horizon, “I like talking to you,” he paused, “I don’t know what it is, but something about our conversations always makes me feel at ease.”
He nervously smiled, “I’m probably oversharing, but...I kinda see you as one of my best friends, y’know.”
You glanced back at him with an assuring smile, “You’re not oversharing at all. I see you as a best friend as well. You are a very easy person to talk to.”
Although you knew good and well you saw him as more than that.
“Thanks,” he smiled, “and if you ever need to vent or have something bothering you...feel free to just come to me. I’m a pretty good listener...and my ears never tell a soul.”
You cheesed, “I’ll remember that. And the sam ges for me. Whatever you need, swordsman, I’m here.”
“Thanks...I appreciate it,” Zoro replied, nodding with a smirk. “I know this is a weird question, but do you want to hang out again?”
“That can be arranged,” you smirked, getting hit with another sudden burst of confidence, “.....And speaking of which, I’d like to take up your offer from earlier. I gotta get some questions off my chest.”
“Ask away,” he smiled, “I’m all ears.”
You decided that now was as good a time as any to tell him.
Zoro was always so good to you, in any situation, and you wanted to take your relationship further.
Even if it costed your friendship.
“I know it sounds childish, but do you have anyone you’ve taken......a liking to on the ship?”
Zoro raised an eyebrow, allowing his smirk to rise with it, “I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t.....”
“But first off, do you have someone you’ve taken a liking to?”
You blushed, guiltily smiling as you turned away, “.........Maybe.”
Zoro’s eyes slightly lit up, his opening slowly becoming clear.
“Aww...what’s wrong? Don’t wanna tell me who it is?” He teased.
You smiled, abashedly, “You know him too well. It might make things awkward.”
“I won’t tell a soul. I promise,” he swore, placing a hand above his heart and shooting you a wink.
“And you already know I never judge. Only listen.”
“Don’t think I haven’t noticed how you switched the subject,” you smirked, “But I’ll spill...”
“I guess you caught that, huh?” He sighed, lightly chuckling. “Well, alright...fine. You caught me.”
He took a deep breath, turning a light shade of red, “It’s you.”
Your eyes practically bulged out their sockets, your face turning tomato red, “Really?”
“I mean, I just always liked you...ever since we first met back in the East Blue.” He quickly caught himself, “But don’t worry, you don’t have to like me back.”
“I’m just happy you let me know that I’m not entirely unnoticed,” he grinned, “I’m also glad that you’re not grossed out now that you know I like you.”
You scoffed, changing your seating on the couch so you could face him.
“How could anyone not like you?! Any girl would be lucky to have your eyes...er...eye...set on them,” you assured.
Zoro laughed nervously.
“Aw, well...I’m not that special...” he smiled. “But to be honest...you’re special, y’know? I can’t explain why...but you mean a lot to me.”
You cocked a brow teasingly, “Special, eh? How so?”
“Well, the fact that you’re letting me talk about stuff like this, for one...,” he chuckled, “I’m not sure any other girl I know would put up with that.”
You smiled, “Look at you, making me blush and shit.”
Zoro smiled back.
“Sorry if I’m being cheesy. Guess I just wanted to get that off my chest--.” He was interrupted by the intensity of your eyes.
You were looking up at him so lovingly, and the stars were reflecting, making it look like there were galaxies dancing in your iris.
Zoro heavily gulped, “You have beautiful eyes.”
His gaze quickly traveled down to your lips, parted and waiting, almost beckoning him towards you.
“Your smile, as well.”
You blushed, “You do, too. I love it when you smile, and when you laugh as well. It makes me happy.”
“You like that? When I laugh and smile?” He smirked, moving closer to you, “Then I’ll make sure it happens more often. ....I’ll make sure you smile more, too.”
He leaned down to you, his facing inching closer and closer.
You smiled, threading your arms around his neck, “It won’t be hard. You’re making me smile right now.”
Zoro grinned, closing the gap between you with a kiss, allowing the rest of the world to slip away.
You two held each other tight, forgetting that anything else in the world even existed.
Because it didn’t matter what did.
All that mattered in this moment, were you, Zoro, the stars...
and the Crow’s Nest.

"Gather up all of the crew, it's time to ship out Bink's Brew. The sea wind blows. To where? Who knows. The waves'll be our guide," you hummed, happily stroking your ukulele with practiced hands, eyes blissfully shut.
"O'er cross the ocean's tide. Rays of sunshine far and wide. The birds, they sing. Of cheerful things. In circles passing by."
Your breath hitched, suddenly realizing you forgot the next verse.
"I believe it's, bid farewell to Weaver's town." Siva smirked from the yard above, which perfectly viewed the crow's nest that you were resting in.
"I was wondering when you'd show yourself," you smiled, peeking an eye open as you took one long strum, before picking up the melody once more.
"As perceptive as ever, I see," she smiled, resting her cheek in her palm.
"You flatter me," you said in a fancy accent, tilting up your nose.
She snickered, rolling her eyes at your antics. "I came up to report that we're approaching an island. Nothing too fancy, just a simple port town. But it's known for it's pubs and various imports of booze."
Your ears perked at booze and you opened both eyes, turning to your navigator in excitement.
"Well then what are we waiting for?" you smirked, halting your music and standing up.
She sighed, well aware of her captain's endless love of alcohol. She knew this information would please her.
"Kovu!"
"Yeah?" the man answered, looking up from behind the main wheel.
"Full speed ahead!" you smirked.
He smirked right back, giving you a firm nod before turning to some crew members standing by.
"You heard the woman! Full speed ahead!"
"Gods," Siva sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "You worry me."
"What? A little booze never hurt anyone," you shrugged off, stepping onto the rail of the crow's nest.
You deeply inhaled, allowing yourself to bask in one more breeze before exhaling and jumping, earning a groan from Siva.
"So dramatic," she grumbled.
"Taolf em tel," you smiled, holding out your hands flat and slowly lifting them up, slowing your speed into a calm float down to the ground.
You had eaten the Magic-Magic fruit, and were now a Magic-woman. Your spells could carry out any action you desired, so long as you cast the spell completely backwards, and use your hands for movement.
"Quite the show, Witch (y/n)," Siva teased you with your bounty name, landing next to you with her dark wings unfurled.
"Why thank you, Black Angel Siva," you teased right back, placing a hand on your hip.
Siva was your first mate and most trusted friend. You wouldn't have come anywhere near the Grand Line if it weren't for her.
Laughing, the two of you started off on your daily stroll around the ship.
"Before you ordered Kovu to kick things into high gear, I wanted to tell you something else, too," Siva started, the laughs dying down and her voice turning serious.
You stopped your laughs, giving her your undivided attention. "Okay. Shoot."
"Word of mouth is that Eustass "Captain" Kid, Massacre Soldier Killer, and the rest of the Kid pirates are docked on that island, and have been for about a week now," she handed you copies of Kid and Killer's wanted posters, their bounties respectfully 315,000,000 and 162,000,000 berries.
You took them and analyzed them carefully, going over each detail of their faces and committing them to memory. Though one seemed to catch your eye especially.
Eustass "Captain" Kid.
You had no idea why, but something about this man just made your gaze linger, almost as if you were unable to look away.
He was a handsome man, no doubt about it. His jawline, his broad shoulders, his cocky smirk, all conventionally attractive. But there was something else there, and yet you couldn't quite put your finger on it.
"Earth to (y/n)? Hellooooo," Siva snapped her fingers, ripping you from your thoughts.
"Huh? What happened?" you asked, confused.
"You zoned out drooling over Kid's wanted picture," she smirked, wiggling her eyebrows as she gave you a little nudge.
Your cheeks glowed red with embarrassment as you crumpled up the poster, quickly tossing it over your shoulder and sending it overboard.
"You must be seein' things," you innocently shrugged.
"Mhmmm," she suspiciously glared.
"Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up is because they are your fellow supernovas, and I think it might spell trouble if we dock at the same port. Especially if we happen to run into each other on land."
You smiled, throwing an arm around her shoulder and pulling her into a side hug.
"You worry too much, girl. It's highly unlikely we'll run into him when we go ashore. And even if we do, I can take him out. My bounty is higher than his after all."
Siva smirked. "I bet that's not the only big thing about him your concerned with."
Your crimson hue returned and Siva burst into boisterous laughter.
"As if!" you exclaimed, playfully shoving your friend away.
"What?! You were staring pretty hard, (y/n)," she snickered.
"Whatever," you humphed, crossing your arms and turning away childishly.
"Morning, (y/n)!" Nari happily exclaimed, running over to the two of you and tackling you in a hug.
"Mornin', Nari. Nice to see you," you strained, patting your young crewmate on the head.
She was the chef of the ship, and youngest out of all of you, coming up at a whopping 15. But don't underestimate her. Her fighting prowess is third on the ship, only behind you and Kovu.
"For breakfast I made your favorite! (f/b)!" she grinned, tightening her grip and making you gasp for air.
"That's very nice, Nari, but you please-!" "You're choking her, hun," Siva smiled, saving you the breath.
"Oh," she realized, sheepishly letting go and allowing you to breathe once more. "Sorry 'bout that."
"No worries," you sighed, finally catching your breath and flashing her a quick smile.
"I was wondering, if you two don't mind my asking, where are we going next?" she asked, jittery with excitement.
"Not at all," Siva assured, giving her a loving head pat.
"We're almost to a port island-." "That's full of booze! So we're gonna party!" you interrupted, throwing a happy arm around the girl and pumping a fist in the air.
"Really?!" she happily exclaimed, wide eyed.
"(y/n)! We are not going to let her drink! She's too young!" Siva shouted, frantically waving her arms around.
"Eh, a few years don't make a difference. I drank my first bottle of sake when I was half her age," you grinned, sticking your tongue out and pulling down your eyelid.
A gesture your little brother used to do often.
"That is incredibly irresponsible," she scoffed, crossing her arms.
"My middle name is Irresponsible," you waved off, turning around and walking towards the kitchen.
"Now let's go get some grub. I could eat a sea king."
...
"We should arrive at the island by nightfall," Siva stated, taking a bite of her bread as the entire crew sat down at the table for breakfast.
"Elttob ekas a em gnirb," you stated, muffled with food as you held out your hand to the bar shelf, your favorite bottle of sake floating into it.
"I've been told that the Kid Pirates are there. You sure you wanna dock, (y/n)? Could be trouble," Kovu, your helmsman, asked seriously, looking up from his plate and to you.
"Kid Pirates? ...You mean those supernova guys?! That's so cool! Maybe we could make an alliance," Nari cheesed, dropping her fork in shock.
"I don't think that's a good idea. The Kid Pirates are known to be unmerciful. That shouldn't be a group we associate with," Kuji, your sniper, dismissed, cutting a piece of his meat.
"But imagine how much stronger we could get if we did. Their street cred with our strength could make an unstoppable team," Sanfa, your musician, chimed, using her napkin to wipe some food off her cheek.
You sighed, taking a swig of sake before slamming it on the table, grabbing everyone's attention.
"Look, I appreciate your concerns, but understand that I am still the captain," you stated seriously, your usually lighthearted face turning stone cold.
Everyone's breath hitched, and they looked down at their plates.
"We're going to the island. Not to start a fight, not to make an alliance, but to have a good time. And if all three things, or none of those things happen, then so be it. But I'm not gonna change my plans for some punk with a big bounty who just happens to be where we're going."
They all looked sad, ashamed almost. And you caught it right away.
"Now enough of this Kid nonsense. I don't want my crew-mates worrying any more. Let's finish our food and then start prepping the ship for docking," you smiled, returning the atmosphere to it's normal place as you took another swig of sake.
"Alright! It's almost party-time!" Nari cheered, throwing a happy fist in the air.
"Gods," Siva sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

I can’t believe I didn’t account for this. I am such an idiot.
You knew the creak of a disembarking ship all too well, which only told you that the Strawhats were back way before the estimated time.
This is the last time I trust Kovu with gathering intel.
Sighing, you placed the rolled up prints of poneglyph in their respective tubes, then tied them to your back, silently ducking into the shadows when hearing footsteps outside the door.
You were currently aboard the Thousand Sunny, the flagship of the Strawhats, trying to steal their poneglyph prints for your boss.
It was a simple job, too. They were docked at some random island for supplies, the reindeer that was left behind to watch the ship had fallen asleep, and it was broad daylight.
No one would suspect a thing.
You should’ve been back on land by now, handing over the prints and finally breaking free from his abusive reign.
This job was your ticket to freedom.
Yet Kovu just had to fuck shit up.
I can’t stayed holed up in this room forever. They’ll get too far from land.
With a huff, you slowly opened the door, happy to sense that no one was around.
I need to find a way to get to the back of the ship. I can jump from there, and probably swim back.
You ran lightly towards the stairs, happy you went barefoot for this mission instead of using your getas.
There was no possible way to get back there without being seen, so the least you could do was be fast about it.
You were up the stairs in a blink and now running straight for the gigantic cannon-looking thing attached to the back of the boat.
Almost home free.
For the first time in who remembers when, you smiled, freedom just in reach.
Until it wasn’t.
“YOHOHOHOHO! Um, guys! There’s a lovely lady that is trying to sneak off the ship! AHHHHH! SHE HAS THE PONEGLYPHS!” A skeleton man shrieked, landing in front of and blocking your easy exit, drawing a sword from his cane.
Dammit! Time to try the front!
You back flipped, twisting yourself in the air so you landed the opposite way, allowing you to book it in the other direction.
“You can’t be serious!” an redheaded woman exclaimed, running up the steps and to the back deck with a small orange and white staff in hand.
Cat Burglar Nami.
She ran at you, the staff extending into something much larger.
She swung, aiming for your head but you dropped into a side lunge, using your extended leg to sweep her feet and knock her on her ass.
You grabbed her staff as he was distracted, squeezing it by accident. Out of nowhere, it extended impossibly long, shooting you into the air.
Luck may be on my side today.
You smirked as you flew up the side of the mast, getting about halfway up before planting your feet on it, running up the rest of the way.
You managed to get to the yard, perching yourself so you could look for another form of escape, when you sensed something.
Nico Robin.
You jumped off the yard, grabbing onto it like a monkey bar just as four pale arms sprouted from the wood, attempting to grab you.
“Whoa! That’s so cool!” a giddy voice exclaimed from below.
Your gaze slowly shifted to the deck below, only to see that trademark hat, and the notorious man that it rested on.
Strawhat!
You could sense another attack coming your way so you swung yourself as if you were on uneven bars and let go, flying into the air.
“Is she nuts?! She’s gonna kill herself from that height!” a large man with weirdly shaped blue hair exclaimed from below.
Cyborg Franky.
The swing was too short. You wouldn’t go overboard.
Curse these heavy cuffs!
One silver cuff was attached to each of your ankles, their being there out of your control.
Noticing you were getting dangerously close to the ground, you imbued your legs with some haki and landed safely, creating a small crater on the grassy deck.
As the dust settled, you realized you were surrounded by Strawhat, Zoro, and Blackfoot.
Shit.
“GAHHHH! SHE’S SO GORGEOUS! LOOK AT HER SHORT KIMONO!” Sanji shrieked as his eyes turned into hearts and blood shot from his nose.
Despite the blonde man’s...awkward display, you sensed another pair of eyes on you, so much so that it practically burned.
The Pirate Hunter?
The second you turned to him, your heart caught in your throat.
You had seen his face on his wanted poster a few times before, and you’d be stupid to deny that he wasn’t a handsome man, but looking at him in the flesh... the pictures didn’t even begin to do him justice.
And before you even realized, the two of you locked eyes, and in an instant, it felt as if your legs turned to jelly.
A warm, fluttery feeling spread throughout your stomach, and it felt as if everything else in the world had stopped.
What is this? Was I poisoned?
Just going off his glare, you could already tell that most cowered under his gaze. So why were you reacting this way?
You mentally slapped yourself.
You have to focus.
“You. What are you doing on my ship? And why are you stealing Robin’s poneglyphs?” Strawhat asked seriously, his face quite the contrast from his giddy expression before.
You sighed.
There was no way you could lie out of this mess.
“I am a kunoichi of Iguro clan. And I have been ordered to steal your poneglyph prints,” you stated, your tone firm.
“Any idea why?” Nami asked, her and the rest of the crew walking over.
“None. I am left completely in the dark,” you shook your head.
Your expression quickly turned determined.
“But I do know that this final job is my one way ticket out of hell, so peacefully or not, I’m leaving.”
You lowered yourself into a fighting stance, glaring at Strawhat as his lips grew a smirk.
He cracked his knuckles. “Alright then.”
“Luffy you better not hurt her!” Sanji fumed from the side.
Using your haki, you peered into the near future to see him punch you with an extended arm.
Can’t have that.
“Gum Gum Pistol!”
You tilted to the side, avoiding his hit with ease.
The entire crew gaped, save for Zoro.
Strawhat’s grin grew even larger, if that was possible, and wound up both arms.
A barrage of fists.
“Gum Gum Gatling!”
The barrage came quickly, but you dodged just like the first, flipping, lunging, and performing splits to dodge.
Imbuing your arms with haki, you grabbed one of his arms, harshly pulling him towards you. And like a bungee cord, he came, and you slammed a flattened hand into the pressure point on his neck, knocking him out.
“Luffy!” the crew exclaimed.
Zoro quickly drew two of his swords and ran for you, so you immediately dropped his captain and drew your own katana, meeting his two with a loud clash.
He smirked, which made that fluttery feeling return to your stomach. “I see you use Ittoryu.”
You smirked right back. “I’m knowledgeable in the style, yes.”
The both of you pushed off, returning to your stances before running at each other again.
Swords flew through the air as the both of you met the others attack perfectly.
You lunged into an attack, but he blocked it yet again, so you hook the outstretched foot to his ankle, deepening your lunge to pull him down.
He grunted, doing everything he could to keep his stance planted and balanced, so you imbued your foot with haki, and he did the same for his.
He seemed almost amused at the fact that you were still pushing your sword against his, openly showing that you were incredibly close to him in strength.
Not even Tashigi could do that.
And not only was he amused by the woman in front of him, but in silent awe.
Sure, your beauty was what caught his attention first. You had every feature that a woman would kill for.
Smooth, chestnut skin, plump lips, beautiful hip dips and curves, and beautiful (e/c) pearls, that looked as if they held galaxies in your glance.
But now that he saw your fighting prowess and raw strength along with it, well you could say you had him hook, line, and sinker.
You still kept strong, keeping your sword firm in it’s place as the Pirate Hunter continued to push down.
That is, until the pain equivalent of a thousand lightning bolts stemmed from your ankles, and you let on a cry of pain.
No! Not now!
Zoro realized this and quickly pulled away his swords before the electricity could be conducted to him.
You dropped your katana, falling over as you held yourself in agony, muffling your shouts of pain on your forearm.
“What’s wrong? What did you do to her, marimo?!” Sanji asked, yelling at the green-haired swordsman.
“I didn’t do anything to her!” Zoro fired back, glaring at the cook.
He didn’t know why, but seeing you in so much pain made him hurt. It was a sharp pulling feeling, as if his heart was on a string connected to you.
“The shocks seem to be coming from her ankles,” Robin pointed out, everyone’s attention turning to the cuffs that adorned your feet.
“How do we get it off her? ‘Cause that looks super painful,” Franky asked, grimacing at the sight of you writhing in pain.
It was then that Strawhat got back up from the ground, looking at you with a blank face.
“Oi, (y/n), can you hear me?” your boss asked, his voice coming from the cuffs.
“Shit,” you cursed, weakly trying to get up.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” you could practically hear his smirk of the other side.
“Lemme cut to the chase. You failed your mission, plain and simple. So you know the consequences.”
Your eyes went wide and tears threatened to spill as you realized what he meant.
“No!” you emptily gasped, trying to speak through the pain. “I’ve...I’ve worked with you for 10 years! My debt is paid! We had an agreement!”
“You stupid girl!” he shouted. “I was never going to honor our agreement! You’re too good of an assets to pass up! You will work under me for the rest of your pathetic, little life!”
The ship went dead silent, the Strawhat crew looking at you sorrily as tears poured down your cheeks.
10 years of your life, gone. All because you believed the word of a pirate.
He was right. You really were a stupid.
Painfully, you turned to Strawhat, who looked over the situation intently.
That’s when you got an idea. And settled on it in a blink.
Down on your hands and knees, you bowed your head to the captain, the rest of the crew letting out quiet gasps.
“Strawhat, I...hnnggh...I apologize for knocking you out earlier and...un-understand that I am in no place to ask you for such a favor but,”
You lowered your head to the ground, accepting that you would have to die in a state of embarrassment and weakness.
“Please kill me.”
If you thought the crew was shocked before, they were flabbergasted now.
Even Zoro.
“I’ve wasted the last 10 years of my life with that monster. And now that there is no end in sight, I do not wish to live.”
Strawhat kept the same neutral face as he slowly approached.
You took a deep breath, smiling as you realized your suffering would soon be over, and the bliss of nothingness would welcome you.
But it never came.
Strawhat instead walked past you, silently, and you understood.
I should’ve known.
Such a favor couldn’t be done for someone who just stole from him.
Suddenly, you felt the weight release from your ankles, and the shocks stop.
Your eyes shot wide as you lifted your head, snapping your head around to see that Strawhat had broken off the cuffs for you.
“Hey, guy! I don’t know if you can hear me anymore, but know that (y/n) is under my protection! And she won’t be paying back your stupid debt anymore!” he shouted into the broken pieces.
The small stream of tears that were rolling down your cheeks were now complete waterfalls.
In one motion, a man that you had just met, a man that you tried to steal from, had set you free. After 10 years of hellish torture, you were finally free.
But you still tried to compose yourself, sniffling as he turned back around to face you.
“Why didn’t you kill me?” you quietly asked, looking away from the man.
His smile grew into full on grin. “All you needed was a little help, there was no reason to kill you.”
Your eyes went wide.
There was no way. This had to be a trick.
“Next time just ask.”
Your ears perked at that part.
“Next time?” you asked.
“Oh, yeah! I meant to ask. Do ya wanna join my crew? It’d be so cool if we had a kunoichi!” He cheesed.
You were shocked to say the least, looking over the rest of the crew’s faces to see that they were smiling as well.
Never before had you been met with such kindness. He wasn’t even getting anything in return.
You sniffled, clearing your throat. “I would like that,” you smiled, looking down at the ground.
And as he cheered, and ordered Black Leg to cook a banquet in celebration, you wiped a stray tear from your cheek, looking up to the clear, blue sky.
Strawhat Luffy would never know the bounds of your thanks.
You could never repay him.
