Finally, it's cosplay WIP reveal time!! I've been hesitant to start brand-new cosplays this year because I've always planned my outfits around events. I was even more discouraged when I learned that Wonder Woman 84 was keeping its Dec. 25th release date, since theaters by me are closed and I have no desire to subscribe to HBO Max. But you know what? Screw it. Cosplaying brings me joy, and lack of social events should not dictate how or whether I choose to pursue this hobby. And I'm hoping that WW84 has a long theatrical run and I'll be able to see it in the spring, if not in theaters then on disc. I started piecing together a pre-Cheetah Barbara Minerva cosplay this summer, I want to say around the time the second trailer dropped. Everything so far has been thrifted, and I've been searching online for the perfect jacket. Other than that, I still need to modify the skirt (it's ankle-length, I'm holding it up here) possibly add some rips to the shirt depending on how much shows, and get tights. My real hair works for now, but I may need a wig if I cut it. But even in this preliminary stage, this was exciting to get into, and I can tell this is going to be a fun cosplay! "I blew all of my covers. I've got to figure out a new one." (Swipe for less stylized version.) Has anyone ever wanted to take a break from a cosplay? Whether it's something you've just worn a lot or a costume you've put a lot of time into making? That's how I felt about Elsa a couple years after Frozen came out, and oddly enough, it's how I feel about Black Widow at the moment. Make no mistake - I still LOVE our girl. But I've been wearing her a lot for TikToks and videos lately, she went to the last charity event I attended before lockdown, and I've taken her to nearly every con I've attended over the past couple years. Branching out to other characters for TikTok has been really fun and reminded me just how versatile cosplay can be.
