My take on animated food truck from the @netflix @jonfavreau @thechefshownetflix I've so been digging this show! It makes me want to try some making some new dishes. I really wanted this to work, but it's not, so I think I have to stop. I got a "bucket list" of 100 movies poster on my birthday last year. Each movie is a scratch off, with a small drawing underneath. I wanted to do my own drawings for the movies I watch. (In some cases, again.) So far, I've watched three. Leon, Up and In Bruges. Something is off and I'm getting frustrated. So, I may not be doing it. Maybe I'll come back to it later? A job just recently finished, helping to design an app. I got to create the look of the app, but I also got to help in coming up with a name. The only ask from the client was to have a robot character. It’s tuesday, and this is a tarot card, so it must be tarot tuesday! Today we start the fourth (and final!) suit of the Minor Arcana - the Swords - with their primary card, the Ace.

Associated with the element of air, the cards of this suit relate to intelligence, reason and communication. They sometimes gets paired with the Wands, as both suits have more of a “mental” theme (as opposed to the Coins’ and Cups’ arguably more physical focus). But, as with all things magical, things aren’t really that cut-and-dry. 

The Ace of Swords pretty well encapsulates the feel of the whole suit. In most depictions of the card we see a hand (often gloved) holding a single, clean blade - representing the pure splendour of reason, dispassionate and distant. This card is simple, and in some ways sort of bleak; it represents our ability to whittle down complex problems to a simple, boolean decision. 

It’s a really important faculty! Society has evolved numerous powerful institutions whose broad goal is to ascertain whether a statement is true or false, a person guilty or innocent. Arguably a useful one, too - it’s hard to see how civilisation wouldn’t crawl to a halt without the odd sword to help us cut through all the gordian grey areas. There’s a reason justice is never seen without a blade, after all…

But we shouldn’t let the glamour of the guillotine distract us from its ultimate purpose. Reason is a tool, sometimes an ineffective one - and there are many areas of life where attempting to force a dichotomy does way more harm than good.
