Portfolio website session feedback.
So I had my second meeting with my Design mentor yesterday and we are off to a start on our first project - redesigning and updating my portfolio website. One of the main reasons I would like to redesign my portfolio website is to obtain a placement for the third year of my degree, I also feel looking back that my portfolio website was a very rushed process, with writing the contents designing, learning to code and code in a matter of months.
I felt very restricted trying to show the original design in the overall coded portfolio website as there were aspects that I could not produce the same as how I wanted it to look in the prototype created. Russell has introduced me to a design application called WebFlow, which is an easy design application that allows you to design your website code free!! my dream...
The first thing I aim to work on before thinking of any design elements is rewriting the content I would like to put across on my portfolio website. I am thinking of condensing my Home and About page into one single page expressing what I do and What I am looking for from my portfolio website.

Illustrated a photo of myself using Adobe Illustrator & Adobe XD. Feel as though it would make a awesome feature for the “about me” page on my portfolio website.
One thing I noticed when converting this illustration from Adobe illustrator to Adobe XD was that colour palette slightly changes between the design.
Struggling to decide whether I prefer the natural colour palette on Adobe XD or the more intense colour palette on Adobe illustrator.

Redesigning World Independent news application logo and brand: idea 1 So from getting feedback from my tutor and class mates on my news application after hand in, one of the main problems with my news application was my logo and branding; me not realising as the creator of the application and logo how my intentions of the logo looked to people before having to explain why it is designed that way. I found myself back to the drawing board to redesign a more recognisably suited logo to the phone application I have created.

What a nice illustration of Gipsy Avenger from the movie Pacific Rim. The extra detailing and mixed colours really make this illustration perfect.
Pacific Rim Uprising
Another movie I watched whilst on lockdown was Pacific Rim Uprising. I took inspiration from the main Jaeger called Gipsy Avenger. I Googled the name and took a photo that I thought would look cool done in more my kinda style.
I traced the basic outline of Gipsy Avenger and used the eyedropper tool to pick out colours to fill in each section. My style is more messy work with more vibrant colours and I really like how this turned out. The extra detailing of the lines I found were a nice touch and the graduated background shows the light and dark areas more effectively. I also really loved how the main power core turned out, with the mixed colours, it reminds me of stained glass with how bright the colours are. I completed this drawing to try and get more used to Adobe Illustrator and to play around with different backgrounds, pens and colours etc.

When on lockdown..
When on lockdown I wanted to work a little bit on my Graphics tablet to get the feel for creating hand drawn illustrations, I wanted to become more familiar with the pen pressure of my Graphics tablet and what illustration style works better for me. To gain a better understanding I created a illustration of my dog Benny.
I found this a fun activity to do today as time seemed to pass by pretty quickly, it seems to be the small things such as doodling that keeps my mind at ease during this time and allows me to think of the positives.
