Sometime ago an anon Tumblr user told me about someone I was moots with that was an incest shipper, turns out they're into some ugly terrible ships and it's not just "problematic" it's borderline illegal

There's a line from David in roots in the last section when you talk to him that's like. "I hope I will not be the one to die tonight" or smth similar and. Explodes so hard. I think about it SOOO often. I don't have words but. Yeah.

I ALWAYS WAS LIKE "WHY THE FUCK WOULD U SAY THAT?! UR ASS KNOWS UR NOT THE ONE WHOS GONNA GET KILLED UR NOT THE FIRST BORN" unless there was a reason for this line that we simply just don't know yet and it'll make more sense in the future.
I have read one theory that tried to explain this and it's that David is the son of Caroline and Gerard, so technically, he would be their first born. Tho the only thing backing this up is that David's hair color and mannerism is more like Gerard's and that he seems to always be closer to Gerard even in the family photo
Wild if true but I don't think that would generally cancel out Jakob being the first born since he's older xD
Tbh? I think David was just being sarcastic and funny. The same way he was in the beginning when he said to Jakob "it's been a while, brother" even tho he hasn't seen Jakob since he was a toddler, too young to even know or remember he had a brother. Is it a dick move? Yeah. But is it hilarious? Also yes.

So basically me and @lishchyna got an idea where Vanderbooms symbolize different planes of reality.
Rose is the Underworld, the home of souls, shadows and ancestors, also associated with the roots of the Tree of Life.
Leonard is the Middle World - the trunk of the Tree of Life - physical body, nature, vigorousness.
And Frank is the Upper World (the Tree Crown) - the place of spirituality, dreaming, and the Divine

Meaning: Beloved
I didn't expect this drawing to feel as personal as it did but while drawing it I remembered how i felt as a child. I remember telling myself... "No one can save you except yourself" When you have no one, remember that you always have yourself, so love yourself.
I talked about this before but the thing I love about David is that he tried to take control of his own fate. He was never meant to escape the hotel but he did. On his journey to save his soul, he was on his own. No one can save you except yourself.
