Given that his ghost form is that soft blue, my brain always associated pazu with being a pale blond guy. But MAN his human colors are SO NICE.

hehe i’m glad you like them :3c i made human pazu’s design yearsss ago, but i recall wanting to make his alive colors distinctly opposite from his dead colors for ✨symbolic purposes✨, but still wanting to include the accents of blue so you know it’s still him lolol

How similar are the real human Pazu and the ghost swap Pazu? Was Pazu a jerk when he was alive ?

in terms of design they’re pretty much identical (though swap pazu looks much healthier than [redacted]), but their personalities are nothing alike. pazu only became like…that…after he became a ghost, and the AUs are based on that version of him. i won’t go too much into [redacted]’s personality at this time, but he was very much the opposite of pazu’s personality in many ways. i guess the ways that they’re alike are that they’re both sorta gloomy and both like flowers

i’ve also started considering swap pazu as a modern au pazu, so you can interpret that however you want to lolol

In the ghost swap au, is Pazu slightly any kinder to Theo than normal Pazu is? Or is he just a monster always to the poor lil guy

he's still awful to theo but, like.... the threat of effortlessly killing him is now gone since swap pazu doesn't actually know how to exorcise a ghost, so rather than being nicer he's just marginally less of a menace. i would say if anything theo is the one who's nicer to pazu in this au, mostly because he feels bad for him and can tell he's kinda a weird loner, and also because he's not constantly exhausted and stressed because he's already dead lol. he's also sorta naive by nature and believes pazu is nice deep down.

pazu is fascinated by the only talking ghost he's ever met and keeps theo around as a toy mostly, but if ghostswap were to ever continue in a story-like structure i think theo continually trying to naively help pazu out would make him be at least 1% nicer to theo. maybe.

i think you’re being too hard on yourself tbh the proportions look fine!!! it’s a difficult angle and you did really well with it, i’d say the only area that could use more definition is the shoulders/upper torso - a lot of that is being covered by the shirt anyways (part of the joy of g/t art lolol) but a bit of the anatomy gets lost there. i’m not really good with critique or advice, i’m just happy to see art of my boy 😭 TYSM FOR THE FAUST!!!

So, i know you have a lot of si-fi esc gt stuff, with ghosts and exorcists and such, but i was wondering what you thought about borrowers. Like, which one of your ocs would make the best borrower, or how your one of your ocs would react to finding a borrower. (Im assuming you know about borrowers since you seem to be well versed in gt tropes)

yeeeee i know about borrowers and i like em, i just feel like everything there is to be done with borrowers has been done and i can’t personally think of any fresh take on them? i’ve been proven wrong by artists far more creative than i lolol, but the formula seems to be: borrower lives in secret -> borrower gets found by human -> borrower is scared -> human is kind -> they become close. which is no shade to ppl who make borrower content or have stories like that (lufa is basically that with extra steps, if a trope works it works) but it’s not particularly inspiring to me so i don’t explore that too much in my own work. that’s my long-winded explanation for why i don’t do borrower stuff lolol

i think faust would be a fine borrower tbh, maybe some day i’ll make an au of that. my other “tiny” characters (aka theo who is technically normal sized and lam) would be horrible borrowers and would die of stupid dumb idiot disease

you make a good point though that even if they start out the same way, the paths in which borrower stories diverge are really vast and there’s a lot of options. i think another part of it to me is that i automatically associate borrowers with that kind of cottagecore aesthetic, which is nice but also not really my thing, though i’ve seen really cool design takes on borrowers around the community that take the borrower aesthetic in a different direction. point is it’s a good and fun subgenre of g/t but i usually gravitate towards the more sci-fi/supernatural stuff i suppose. that or slice of life 😗

does theo ever get scared around pazu considering he could literally kill him easily if he annoyed him once too far

i meeeean yeah, he’s pretty much constantly terrified and pazu uses that to keep him in line. but pazu’s goal is to keep him alive as long as possible to prolong his misery, and theo knows that (because pazu is happy to constantly remind him)
