Oooh feel free to write it!😂 I know it would be amazing!
I think I agree, tbh. I haven't finished the show so I'm sure there are likely more examples in later seasons, but so far I've seen Tim not afraid to border on breaking the rules/his commitments for the people he cares about (like him almost hiding Isobel's stash of drugs way back in s1), so I almost thought that he would abandon his mission/the duty he owes the victim he's meant to be protecting. But then I remembered how he backed out and didn't hide Isobel's drugs, and I've (so far) seen loads of examples where he borders on breaking the rules, but doesn't last minute, because he's admirable. I could see him wanting to leave everything and check on her but I agree with you, I think once he realises how dangerous it would be leaving Nolan and the other guy, I think he'd stay, but have an internal fatherly heart attack (😂) not knowing whether his daughter was okay🥲 He would be so stressed, not knowing if she was okay/survived the earthquake.
Also could you imagine the angst on her side of him basically choosing work over her🤭 oop
It is very tempting! And I agree, at first I would have thought he would leave everything to go to his daughter but I feel like he is more of a person to think about what is at stake at the moment. He definitely would be having anxiety just thinking about what could be happening to his daughter at the moment and I feel like that would eat him up and maybe bring on some guilt later on down the road. Oh my gosh, it could be even more angsty if she held some resentment towards him for not coming quicker especially if she was injured or he was supposed to be present at a certain time, you know?

okayYY HI i have a question
you know in s1ep16 of the rookie where the earthquake happens but tim is with nolan looking after that ICE guy? and their radios/power was down and they couldn't call/contact anyone. how would he respond if he had a teen daughter there? like, do you think he'd leave to check on her immediately, or would he just hope everything was okay and stay focused on the responsibility he took on himself to look after the guy? I cant figure out how it'd play out/what he'd do! bc hes so dedicated to the job but his child is his child, idk!
Oh gosh, the story I can write with this one!! But I think given the situation he was in, I think Tim would've stayed with Nolan, maybe he would've tried to leave but then realized what danger he would be putting nolan in if he did. So he stays. But as soon as he is given the clear, he is out of there, like not even Nolan notices that he is gone until someone comments about it. and once he is out of there he is constantly calling his daughters phone until she picks up. He is tracking her down like a hawk because he is so worried.

- staying with mom ✰ e. diaz
Tumblr media
Summary: the first time Christoper calls you mom
Genre: mostly fluff but smidge of angst/tension
warnings: none
Pairing: eddie diaz x fem!reader
word count: 1.3k
Notes: hi hi i tried to use american terms like mall and mom, but i am not american and i say mum, so if you notice any slip ups pls let me know and i will change it. I feel like it would be weird to picture chris saying mum in an american accent so i tried to only used mom   Also i have started watched the walking dead and am obsessed so pls feel free to request some fics for the walking dead (i’m halfway through s7)
When you and Eddie started dating, you waited quite a while before meeting Chris as you wanted to be sure in your relationship so as not to unsettle Chris. After about 8 months, you were pretty sure Eddie was it for you, and you eventually met Chris. Within 6 months of meeting Christopher you had pretty much moved in with the boys, and when the lease on your apartment was up for renewal Chris was the one who suggested you move in. That was over a year ago and since then the three of you had been living life as a happy little family.
Today, you had a day off from work but Eddie did not, so you had decided to take Chris out for the day. For weeks, Chris had been saying his shoes were starting to get tight so you had decided you would take him to buy some new shoes and buy him a couple extra treats. It wasn’t often you and Eddie weren’t both at work at the same time, even if you didn’t have the same shift, you often overlapped so Chris would spend time with Carla.
Eddie was at work before you even woke up, so you and Chris had a slow morning before heading to the mall. The car journey was filled with music and laughs, you loved spending time with Chris and you guys always had an amazing time.
Once you got to the mall you found yourself chasing Christoper, the shoe shop was all the way on the other side of the mall so you had decided to do fun shopping first. The first stop was at the ice cream parlor, and then the two of you made your way quickly over to the lego shop. You both bought a lego set, as you planned to watch a movie and build lego together in the afternoon. Once the pair of you had gone to all the shops you wanted to, you slowly walked back to the car, trying to agree on a movie to watch while you were building your legos.
You were nearly at the car, when the ground started to rumble. Small tremors weren;t uncommon living in LA, but this was not that. The slight rumble turned to full blown shaking and the lights in the parking garage started to come loose and smash to the floor. You quickly dropped your bags and grabbed Christopher and headed for the car, it might not have been the smartest idea but in your panic it seemed like the safest option if the garage was to crumble.
Somehow, you managed to get to the car in record time as you were opening the door, you noticed a piece of debris falling and you quickly pushed Chris into the car. Within seconds of you getting Chris safely into the car, the debris had come down, knocking you down in the process. You hit your head on the concrete and briefly lost consciousness, but you quickly came around to the sounds of Chris’s cries.
“I’m here Chris, I’m okay,” you mumbled as you tried to wriggle free. Although, your right leg was trapped under the piece of the parking garage that had knocked you to the floor.
Not long after you regained consciousness, sirens were all you could hear and it became nearly impossible to keep your eyes open, and you were soon consumed by the darkness.
“Cap, get Eddie over here!” You heard being yelled from close by. Squinting at the bright light you started to blink your eyes back open and were met with Buck’s face looking down at you.
“Chris, is Chris okay?” you forced out, your throat was hoarse and felt as though you had woken from a deep sleep. You could feel yourself being rolled onto a stretcher, presumably to move you to an ambulance, or at least a safer area.
“Chris was with you?” Buck panicked.
“I think I got him in the car,” you coughed, “Check him first.”
A couple minutes later you heard a car door be forced open, and then Buck’s shouts.
“Chris!” Eddie’s shouts were so loud. He had arrived onto the scene and saw Buck carrying Chris over some rubble away from the car. You turned your head slowly and saw Eddie embrace his son tightly.
“Where’s Y/N?” Eddie suddenly asked. The panic in his voice was palpable.
“Over here,” You heard Buck’s voice get louder as he led Eddie to you. Eddie placed Chris down next to your stretcher and cradled your face.
“Baby, are you okay?” he questioned, whilst scanning your body for any obvious injuries.
“My leg got crushed but I’m fine. How is Chris? Is Chris okay?” you spoke so fast.
“I’m fine,” you heard Chris speak. You could have cried with relief upon hearing his voice. You had seen Eddie carry him, but hearing him speak and confirming he was okay made you so happy.
“Now, let get you taken to hospital, Buck can you take Chris to Athena and get her to call Carla please,” Eddie said as he began to wheel you out of the area. You saw Buck begin to usher Chris towards Athena who you could see a while away directing people.
“No.”
You and Eddie both stopped and looked at Chris who was avoiding Buck and walking towards the two of you.
“Chris, bud, y/n is okay. Your dad is just making sure she gets her leg checked out,” Buck tried to convince Chris.
“No,” Chris shook off Buck’s arms and carried on walking in your direction. Eddie sighed, letting go of your stretcher and turning to Chris before squatting down to his level while holding onto him.
“Chris, I need to take y/n to get checked out. Can you please go with Buck?” Eddie begged.
“No.” Chris was being stubborn.
“Chris please,” Eddie was starting to get desperate.
“I want to stay with mom.” Chris yelled.
You, Buck and Eddie all went still. Suddenly, the atmosphere had changed. Chris had never called you mom before. The three of you all looked at each other in shock unsure what to say or do next.
“Come here Chris,” you beckoned the boy, before helping him to sit on one side of the stretcher after you had collapsed the arms, “You can stay with me.”
Eddie was still looking at you in shock, starting to feel love swell in his chest. The idea that Chris saw you as a mother figure made him so happy.
“Chris, it looks like your dad is frozen,” you laughed whilst looping one of your arms around the boy. You had managed to get him in a place where he wasn’t near your leg which was causing excruciating pain.
This brought Eddie out of his shock and he walked over to the two of you.
“I love you both so much,” he breathed as he leant to kiss both of your foreheads, “Let’s go get mom all checked out.”

Bucky drabbles 🥺 ❤️
shaving Bucky’s face for him with a straight razor because he’s too shaky
Tumblr media
You leaned on the bathroom doorframe, watching Bucky struggle. He’d been trying to shave the scruff off of his face, but his hands were shaking too much. He was crying from frustration, his hands trembling.
“Stop honey, you’re going to hurt yourself,” you said softly, and he dropped the blade into the sink with a loud, metallic clatter. He gripped the edge of the countertop and heaved forward with a sob.
You swallowed down your own cry, your heart breaking for him. You stepped into the bathroom and wrapped your arms around him, your hands resting on his chest. Your body was pressed against his shaking back, and he broke down in front of the mirror.
“James,” you breathed, feeling like he was going to shatter in your arms.
“It was like it was all happening again… In Madripoor…” Bucky’s voice cracked, and you held him tightly. You felt tremors wrack through his body, and you did your best to hold him together.
“I had to act like the winter soldier, I let Zemo touch me, it was so real!”
“Breathe, my love. It’s not real, James, it’s over. That isn’t you anymore,” you promised, kissing the back of his shoulder, a heather-blue shirt soaking up your tears.
You pulled yourself together, squeezing your eyes shut and kissing the scar where his prosthetic met his skin. Your heart ached to see the love of your life in so much pain, and you fought against the urge to sob with him.
He was murmuring softly in Russian, and you slipped between his body in the counter, reaching up to his scruffy face and holding him in your hands. His head hung down, long hair falling in his face, tears streaked down his cheeks. Wet eyelashes opened to reveal silver eyes, the eyes of the soldier who’d fought for justice in the 40s, the assassin who was held captive, and the hero who was trying everything to make it right.
Those gorgeous silver eyes gazed into yours, finding solace and safety in your love. You brushed his tears away with your fingers, and he placed a vibranium hand over your own. You leaned forward and kissed his knuckles, and he hugged you, his arm going around your back. You stood in his arms, breathing him in for several minutes, letting him calm down.
“Let me,” you said softly, taking the blade out of the sink and grabbing a towel, a washcloth, and shaving cream.
“Doll…”
“I’ve got it James.”
You followed him quietly into the kitchen, and he filled a bowl with water, sitting down on a chair next to the counter. You turned on a light overhead, shining down over you enough so you could see what you were doing. You set everything down before tying Bucky’s hair back, kissing his temple.
You walked around and straddled his lap, your knees coming to rest on either side of his hips. You rubbed the cream on his face, his hands settling on your waist, his thumbs occasionally brushing over your skin, just under your top.
His gaze never left your face, and he trusted you as you picked up the straight razor. Bucky wasn’t afraid of you hurting him, and he knew you’d do a much better job than he could in his anxious state.
He loved you. He loved these quiet moments, the times when you took care of him without making him feel guilty or weak. You never needed to ask what he needed, you just understood. You were soft and never judging, always the one to stay up with him when he couldn’t sleep. You loved him.
You held his head in one hand, tilting it as you carefully glided the razor against the curves of his face. You moved the blade steadily over his skin, slicing the hair off.
Bucky breathed evenly, holding still for you. A soft sigh left him as you dipped the blade in the water before working on the curve of his jaw. You tilted his head back, shaving the hair down the column of his throat silently.
You worked on the other half of his face, cleaning the blade a couple times in between. You managed not to nick him, your touch careful with your lover.
The only other time you’d done this was for Steve Roger’s funeral.
You cleaned the blade in the water, and setting it aside, dipping the washcloth in a fresh bowl. You cleaned his smooth skin, relaxed by the action. After you patted his face dry with a towel, you leaned in and connected your lips.
The kiss was tender and slow, bringing comfort to Bucky. You took your time before pulling away, running your fingers along his clean face.
“Thank you.”
You offered a small smile before wrapping your arms around his neck, hugging the man who meant everything to you. He held you, breathing you in and keeping you close. You brought a peace that washed over him, pushing out the fright and anxiety. There was no room for that when you filled him with love.

Too Tired for this
Tumblr media
A/N: Yes, she does call him dad in his head. I have a whole backstory set up for a character that really is only going to be featured in this, so please let me know if you’re interested in hearing about it.
Pairing: Father Figure! Bucky Barnes x Teen! Reader
Loaction: Marvel > Bucky Barnes > Oneshots
Warnings: Mention of nightmares, language (why should this even be a warning at this point, it’s literally in all my fics..)
Words: 1.3k
Tagging: @tyler-t0t
~
“I’m too tired for this..:” I mumbled as I rubbed my bleary eyes and set down the datapad.
“No, because milkshakes are not supposed to have bacon in them! Much less peanut butter with it! The fact that you’re eating it at eleven in the morning makes it even worse!” Sam shouted at Clint who was sipping said shake.
I sighed and gathered up all my belongings that I had dragged out of my room, sliding my laptop in my bag and unplugging my charger and putting it in there as well, I got up and stretched, then wrapped my blanket around me and grabbed my bag and water bottle and headed back to my room. It was only eleven but I felt like I could sleep for a solid twenty hours.
Passing by the other’s rooms, my name was called out.
“(Y/N), hey kiddo let me get that for you-” Bucky said as he took my bag and water bottle from me. I didn’t object and trailed him to my room, half asleep.
“You look exhausted kid, when was the last time you slept?” he asked and he set my stuff down and turned to me. I shrugged and tossed my blanket on my bed.
“Don’t know.”
“Are you still doing paperwork for that mission you were on last week? The one that you went away for like two weeks on?” He questioned, crossing his arms and looking at me.
I sighed and turned towards my desk, getting the hoodie on the back of the chair and putting it on.
“Truthfully, yes, but it’s also due to the fact that the nightmares are back.”
He paused and stared at me, a mixture of concern and sadness in his eyes, and unless you’ve been around him as long as Steve, Sam and I have, you can tell that there’s some anger underneath all of that. He’s not mad at me, he’s mad at what was done to me. Especially since I’m not even twenty yet. Maybe it’s more due to the fact that he’s like a father figure to me, but whatever. I’m beyond tired enough to try and process it, let alone keep a train of thought.
“So why haven’t you slept? Because I’ve been meaning to ask you about the call I got from your therapist the other day where she let you sleep half the session.”
I sighed and pulled my sleeves down and my hood up, before getting the blanket and wrapping it back around me.
“After the mission I found out that the work was submitted for me to be completely out of my classes, both academic ones and SHIELD’s didn’t get put in so I’ve been trying to catch up on that and as well as finishing the paperwork from said mission, and I really haven’t found time to sleep considering I’m surrounded by deadlines. Have been since before I left, so it makes this whole thing-” I gestured vaguely to myself and my messy room ”-a hell of a lot worse.”
He nodded, before sitting down at my desk and opening my laptop.
“You do know you probably don’t have to do half of this paperwork, considering how well your mission went, right? I’m going to go through this and finish it while you get a shower and nap. You really look like you need it, kid.” I was about to protest but a yawn stifled any attempt that I was going to make.
Bucky hummed as he booted up the computer, already flipping through the massive amount of files I had on my desk.
A knock sounded at my door, and while he didn’t bother to turn and acknowledge it, I turned and saw Steve leaning against the doorway.
“Hey, (Y/N), I’m here to collect you.” He told me as he crossed his arms, staring at me.
“...for what?” I asked him, raising my eyebrows. I didn’t have any meetings scheduled with anyone, at least to my current knowledge...although with my current state I wouldn’t be surprised if I missed one.
“You’re going to be staying in my room for a bit, I know you usually want to clean your room by yourself but I also know that it stresses you the hell out when it looks like this, so I figured it would be a lot easier for you if you just took a nap in my room for awhile, since you usually do that anyway when I’m away.” Bucky said as he turned to look at me.
I paused, trying to process the fact that he knew about me sleeping in his room when he went away on long missions-
“I was the one that told him, I went in to drop off some of his laundry and you were in one of his hoodies passed out on the bed with a movie on.” Steve informed me.
“Oh.” was all that came out of my mouth.
I sighed and just decided fuck it, I’m tired, dad knows how I keep my room so he knows how to clean it without stressing me out, sleep sounds nice.
I grabbed some clothes and followed Steve to Bucky’s room, where he ended up taking my blanket! The bastard took my blanket from me! But the fact that it has the remnants of two..or three full cups of coffee dumped on it then air dried out along with some weird stains it’s probably the best idea. After he left I took a long, hot shower, and even though I could barely keep my eyes open during it, I made sure to wash very thoroughly and even washed my hair and face twice, then brushed my hair and my teeth. I was so, so tired. I barely remember going to his closet and pulling on one of his hoodies, before heading to the bed and falling deeply asleep.
I woke up a while later, long enough to where the sky was fully dark and the only light was coming from the bathroom light which I must’ve accidentally left on. I took a couple minutes just to stretch and get a feel for my body, which was still tired, but alert. Taking in my body and surroundings, I slowly got up and looked for my phone. Finally found it buried in the blankets, and had a solid moment of panic when I looked at the time. I was 9 at night. Nine fucking pm.
I slept for almost ten hours…. I guess my body really needed it.
I headed out of his room and went down to the kitchen for some water and a snack. Rubbing my eyes as I walked in, I paused when I saw both Steve and him at the island, going through more paperwork. The latter looked up at me and got up, heading over to me.
“You’re awake”
I nodded, looking up at him. He sighed and opened his arms up to me, which I accepted and hugged him tightly. He kissed the top of my head and mumbled “You really shouldn’t work yourself as hard as you do, doll..”
I nodded again and nuzzled my face into his chest, content to be there for a while.
~~ (Extended cut)
“Natasha and I went through and picked up your room, and washed your bedding and your laundry and basically took care of everything, though I have a question for you..” He said as he opened the door to my room, Natasha and Steve behind me.
“Care to explain why you have classified documents and weapons in your room?” Natasha said as she gestured to my bed, with said objects.
I chuckled nervously, backing up until I hit a wall, which was not a wall but Bucky. I looked up at him, trying to plead with my eyes.
“You’ve got some explaining to do kiddo..”

Bucharest details
Not sure if this had been pointed out previously, but during the apartment fight scene in Bucharest, there's a nice little detail hidden in the shadows.
Tumblr media
Bucky knocks a man over the railing, who Steve Rogers catches just in time. What was really hard to see in the shadows is that Bucky actually realises this in the middle of his fight with another man and makes a motion to try and catch the guy.
Tumblr media
Hard to get a good resolution picture of this, but his head whips around and his body moves away from his new enemy when he hears the guy scream. His metal arm reaches towards the falling guy and his fist opens (rather than closing if he was actually intending to elbow the guy he pushed onto the wall).
Tumblr media
Because it's hard to see his head in that scene, it's clearer in the next cut that Bucky definitely turned around to face the stairwell.
Bucky was really trying to stick to his no-kill promise he gave Steve. He didn't even stop to take any of the discarded guns to defend himself (even though guns are his forte).
That said, he still didn't trust that Steve would be on his side, because in his mind while Steve blocked bullets for him, Steve also seemed to be protecting the police from him. He thought that when push came to shove, Steve was more likely to side with law enforcement than him.
Tumblr media
He was completely taken by surprise when Steve knocked the shooter out for him. I wonder if it was the first moment he thought that maybe Steve was on his side.
(edit: sorry guys, had a mind spaz and confused Bucharest with Budapest. Need more sleep/caffeine)

Hey! I love your Tim Bradford x teen! Reader fics! Was wondering could you do another one? Reader reconnects with someone they met through the system who's had a rough go. Maybe they were in the same house for a while and relied on each other a lot in that house to keep each other safe. But as they reconnect reader doesn't realise how toxic the relationship is. Tamara knows the dodgy stuff that the kid gets up to from her time in the system and warns Lucy and Tim because she doesn't want reader to fall back into bad habits with them. Maybe reader gets in trouble and calls Tamara to save them?
Reconnections and Regrets (Tim Bradford x Teen!Foster!Reader)
The Rookie Masterlist
Warnings: Mentions of guns and drugs
Summary: After trying to reconnect with people in the past, y/n realizes quickly why the past should stay in the past.
Author's note: I feel like this one wasn't the best fic I've done so far. I really liked this idea for the fic, though! I hope you enjoy it! Send in some more Tim Bradford x Teen!reader angsty fics!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had promised yourself that you wouldn’t get back into your old habits.
That you would forget your past and move forward, just like Tamara had done, and just as every other kid within the system wishes they could do. To have the ability to find someone to take you under their wing and help you forget your past. An opportunity to start over.
But here you were, texting an old friend with plans to catch up later that afternoon. You couldn’t help but smile at the messages, you were excited to catch up with old friends. But most of all, you were excited to catch up with a special someone that you hadn’t seen since Tim took you in.
The special someone was a boy named Jacob, the two of you had been in a foster home together when you were younger and he protected you from your foster father and well, you tried to do the same. You couldn’t help but develop feelings for him over the years.
The last you heard about him was that he was living with his cousin, from what you knew, this cousin was bad news and you could not help but worry about Jacob living there. Especially since he stopped responding to your messages when he moved in with his cousin. It felt like he had just pushed you away.
“What are you smiling about?” Tamara asked as she sat on the couch beside you. You had come over since Tim wasn’t home yet, and well, since Lucy and Tim were dating it now felt like you had two homes instead of one.
“Nothing,” you responded.
You could feel Tamara peeking over your shoulder to look at your phone, you quickly locked it and put it on your lap.
“Please don’t tell me you’re talking to Jessica,” she pleaded.
“Alright, I won’t.”
She rolled her eyes, “Y/N, you know how I feel about her.”
“Look, I’m just trying to reconnect, what harm-”
“You know what can happen. You gotten out of that life and now you’re trying to go back? You get Starbucks on the daily, you’re in the cheer team and you go to a self-defense class for crying out loud. You’re not the same girl you used to be, so don’t think they’ll be coming at you with open arms.”
You gave her a small glare, “Stop acting like you don’t think about going back to see your old friends from time to time.” You got up from the couch, “Maybe instead of focusing so much on my life, you should take a look at yours first.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Tamara asked as she followed you as you walked towards the door, “Where are you going?”
“Out,” you stated as you walked out of the apartment.
“Fuck,” Tamara exclaimed. Maybe she should’ve kept her mouth shut, but she felt she had to say something, otherwise, you would end up hurt. But now she felt like she had made things worse.
On the other hand, you were annoyed by how she was right and maybe you got angry with her out of fear. Fear that maybe your friends, like Tamara had said, wouldn’t be as inviting as you think they would be. You hadn’t just changed through your personality but through your appearance too. You now had someone who would take you shopping for clothes you always wanted to wear, but never did out of fear of them getting stolen or taken from you.
You acted like a completely different person now. A person who learned to trust a little more easily and you now weren’t afraid to just be yourself.
On my way over, you sent it to Jessica.
It wouldn’t take long for you to get back to the old neighborhood, it was a twenty-minute bus ride away. Or thirty minutes walking, but with the Los Angeles heat, you’d take your chances with the bus.
~~
A couple of hours passed, and Tamara had not received anything from you. Beginning to worry had already surpassed, she was the definition of completely terrified of what could go wrong. She should’ve texted Tim or Lucy the second you left, but she wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but not the guilt was eating away at her. She let out a frustrated groan and called Lucy.
Lucy picked up after a few rings, “What’s up?”
“Look before you start yelling, I was trying to warn her okay?”
Lucy furrowed her eyebrows, “What happened?”
“Please don’t be mad, but Y/N was here and I saw her messaging one of her old friends and we got into an argument about it and now she’s not responding and I’m scared she’s gonna fall back into some bad habits, especially because this girl is known for doing certain things.”
“How long ago did she leave?” Lucy asked.
“Like two hours ago,” Tamara confessed.
“And you’re barely calling me?” Lucy raised her voice, but quickly let out a sigh, “Do you think she went to see this friend?”
“I know she did,” Tamamra hesitantly said.
“Alright, for now, we’ll just see things out. We can’t just go there all guns blazing when there is no trouble,” Lucy stated. Although, she wanted to go all guns blazing because she was worried for Y/N’s safety.
“Are we going to tell Tim?”
“Tim already knows,” Tim announced. Tamara could hear the anger in his voice, and the fact that he never said anything until now, meant that he was indeed angry.
“Look, just keep us updated, let us know if you hear anything from her, alright?” Lucy said.
“Alright,” Tamara hung up the phone.
Lucy didn’t say anything to Tim, she waited until he did, but he remained silent.
Lucy let out a deep breath, “do you want to talk about it?”
“Talk about what?” Tim asked.
Lucy rolled her eyes, “About Y/N sneaking off to see her old friends? I mean, it’s obvious that you’re angry.”
“I’m not angry.”
“You’re not?” She asked in almost disbelief.
“I’m disappointed. I thought she trusted me enough to tell me things, well, I thought we had gotten to that point. Now I feel like we hadn’t made any progress at all.”
“You know that’s not true,” Lucy began to say.
“Is it?” Tim cut her off, “because from my perspective, it doesn’t look good. I love this kid and I want to be more than just another foster home for her, but almost every time we get close to making a breakthrough she pushes me away.”
Lucy sighed, she felt that maybe with her experience with Tamara, she would know what to say, but somehow this was different. “Just give her some time,” Lucy suggested.
Tim wanted to say that he had given her all the time in the world, but that made it sound like he was giving up, and he didn’t want to give up. He just wished he knew what to do.
~~
You had been with Jessica walking around your old neighborhood for the past two hours, hoping to run into Jacob and it didn’t take you too long.
From a distance, you can see Jacob at the park talking to some guys that looked to be older.
Jessica smirked as she watched you stare at Jacob from a distance, “you know he still asks about you.”
You scoffed, “really?” she gave you a nod, “yet he won’t return a text.”
“He thinks he’s too tough for all that shit now, he even dropped out of school,” Jessica commented. She walked in front of you, “We should go over there,” she suggested.
Now that you were here, you had a sort of fear lingering in the back of your head. You knew the chances of hanging out with Jacob meant that you could get into trouble, but that voice inside of your head just wanted to talk to him once more.
You shrugged, “I don’t know.”
“Oh come on, Y/N. Don’t act like your main purpose for hitting me up was so you could see him again,” Jessica grabbed your hand and began leading you to the park. That fear within the back of your head was beginning to get louder the closer you got to Jacob.
“Maybe I should go home,” you began to say. Jacob was only steps away and at the sound of your voice he quickly turned around.
“No way,” he said with a smile on his face. “Ain’t no way she came back to see us,” he exclaimed as you sighed and walked up to him. “For a second I was beginning to think you were too good for us.”
You rolled your eyes at his comment, “How you’ve been?” you asked.
He glanced over at his friends then diverted his eyes back at you, “I’ve been decent.” Jessica walked over to his friends, of course she would know who they were. She was quick to strike up a conversation with them. Jacob took a couple of steps away from the group, gesturing for you to get closer.
“I heard you’re staying with your cousin,” you began.
“You shouldn’t have come back, Y/N,” Jacob warned. “You got out and I’m proud that you did.”
“It’s not too late for you to do the same,” you commented.
He shook his head, “I’m too deep in this shit.” You knew what that meant. You knew that his chances of getting out of this life were gone. “You really shouldn’t have come back, people know you’re staying with a cop. My cousin knows,” he began.
Your heart began to race, “Why did you stop texting me back?” You asked. You had to ask before you left, you knew his cousin had beef with cops and anyone associated with them.
“You left and well, I had to go with my cousin and that meant-”
“I know,” you interrupted, not wanting to hear him say it. To hear him say that he stopped talking to you not just for your own good, but his as well.
“You really should go,” he began to say. From the distance you could hear the roar of an engine, it caught Jacob’s attention. “Fuck,” he whispered.
“Sounds like your cousin is back,” One of the other guys began to say.
You looked over at Jessica, “we should go,” you said.
Jessica opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by the roar of the engine, a second later a car came into view and parked in the parking lot of the park.
A guy came out of the car and began making his way over to the group, “So the rumors are true,” he began to say. “Jacob’s little girlfriend is back,” He smirked.
“Hey, Frankie,” you said.
“Is that all I get? Hey Frankie?” He scoffed before looking over at Jacob, “I need you to come with me,” he began as he glanced over at you, “and bring your little girlfriend.”
“No, Frankie. You already know she liv-”
“Did you just tell me no?” Frankie interrupted Jacob. “Do you not remember the last time I had to put you in your place?” Jacob clenched his fists, “or do you need a refresher?”
“Fine,” Jacob grabbed a hold of your hand, “let’s go.”
“Wait, what? I-I need to go home,” you pleaded.
“No, no,” Frankie began, “you’re coming with us now.”
You felt your anxiety rise within you, this is what Tamara had warned her about. This is what she was afraid of and now it was too late.
“Jacob,” you whispered to him as soon as you stepped away from Frankie, “Where are we going?”
“I don’t know,” he whispered. “I told you, you shouldn’t have come back.”
You remained silent, the best thing you could do right now was to stay calm.
Frankie drove the two of you two a house down the street, he led the two of you inside, “Dude, what the fuck, why did you bring us here?”
“I told you I wanted to show the business,” Frankie said.
“And you thought it was wise to bring her here?” Jacob commented. You looked around to see equipment you couldn’t recognize and powder inside blenders. You knew what was happening here wasn’t good at all, it was a lab of some sorts. A shitty one at that.
“I want her to see what we’re doing, if she says anything then I know who ratted us out,” Frankie stated.
Jacob shook his head, “that is the stupidest thing you have ever said. I swear you’ve lost it since you started using.”
“What the fuck did you just say to me?”
“Did you not hear yourself? You want her to purposely rat us out, for what? For us to lose everything?”
Frankie pulled out a gun and aimed it at you, “So then should I just shoot her?”
Your eyes widen, “What the fuck, Frankie!” Jacob exclaimed as he stood in front of you. You clung to Jacob’s arm, you could feel tears beginning to well up in your eyes.
One of the guys from earlier came running in, “We got a problem.”
Frankie sighed and put his gun back in his belt, “what?”
“Enrique is here and I don’t think he wants to talk anymore.”
Frankie looked at the man with anger in his eyes, “Stay here,” he told Jacob before walking out front. You pulled out your phone as soon as Frankie left.
“What are you doing?” Jacob asked.
“I-I was in over my head coming here,” You began as you looked for Tamara’s contact.
Jacob rolled his eyes, “Calling your cop dad is just going to get me locked up,” He commented.
“You wanted me to go, so now I’m calling my friend to get me the fuck out of here,” you stated. You heard a gunshot coming from outside, before you could even ask Jacob anything, he ran outside. You called Tamara, hoping she would pick up fast and that she wouldn’t say a word about this to Tim.
“Y/N!” Tamara exclaimed.
“Tamara,” you choked out, “I-I need your help.”
Tamara face fell, “Where are you?”
“I don’t know, we were at the old neighborhood and Frankie showed up and he-he’s on something and it looked like he wanted to show Jacob a-” Another gunshot rang outside, you jumped to the sound. You ran from your spot in the living room, you found a bathroom in the hallway.
“What was that?” Tamara asked.
You closed the door behind you, locking it before jumping inside the tub. “Please, help me.”
“Okay, okay, stay on the phone. I’m gonna connect Lucy okay?” Tamara quickly added Lucy to the call. “Please pick up,” Tamara said to herself.
“Tamara,” Lucy began, “you hear anything from Y/N?”
“Lucy,” you said.
“Y/N?”
“Lucy, I added you to the call,” Tamara explained.
Lucy quickly put the phone on speaker, Tim was quick to understand what was going on.
“Y/N, Hon are you okay?” Tim asked.
Just hearing his voice made you feel even more guilty, you felt the tears fall down your cheeks, “I’m sorry,” you choked out.
“Y/N, honey, it’s okay, right now I need you to tell me if you’re okay, are you hurt in any way” Tim reassured.
“N-No,” you stated.
“Good, where are you?”
“I-I don’t know. Some house in the old neighborhood.”
“Y/N, do you think you can share your location with me?” Lucy suggested.
You placed the phone on speaker as you went on your phone to share your location, “There,” you stated.
“There it is,” Lucy said.
“Let’s go,” Tim said as he placed the shop in drive.
Another gunshot ranged through the air, “What was that?” Tamara asked.
“That sounded like a gun,” Tim stated as he drove.
You stayed on the phone with them until they had gotten there. You had hung up the phone once they arrived, You could hear the gunshots coming from outside, meaning that Lucy and Tim’s presence wasn’t welcomed. Sirens were coming from the distance, you felt a little at ease knowing that backup was coming.
Still, you remained in the bathroom until it was safe. The shots subsided and you heard footsteps within the house. A few seconds later someone knocked on the door, “Y/N?” Tim called out.
You quickly got up from your position in the bathtub and opened the door. Before Tim could even react, you had your arms wrapped around his torso, he let out a relieved sigh as he hugged you back.
“I’m sorry,” you cried out.
“It’s okay,” He said as he gently rubbed your back. “It’s alright, let’s just go home.”
You agreed, following him outside. You looked around for Jacob, making eye contact with him as he sat inside one of the shops. Tim had noticed, he knew that you needed this closure with your past, “hey, roll down the window,” he told the officer who sat inside the shop. He did as he was told.
Jacob stayed silent, “I guess this is goodbye,” you began to say.
“Next time, stay out of this neighborhood,” he warned. You gave him a nod, “And if there is a next time, I probably won’t be as inviting.”
Tim gestured for the cop to roll up the window, he knew you didn’t need to hear more. “There won’t be a next time,” you whispered as you walked away from the shop.
“Y/n!” you heard Tamara call out.
“Tamara!” You ran up to her, she engulfed you in a hug. “I’m sorry for everything I said.”
“It’s the past now,” she said. “Let’s just forget about it,” she said as she let go of the hug.
“Tamara is gonna take you home until my end of shit,” Tim stated. “We’ll talk then, alright?”
You gave him a nod, following Tamara to her car.
“If there is anything I learned today, it’s that the past is the past,” you said once you got in the car. “And you’re right, I’m not the same girl I was a year ago.”
“We’re lucky,” Tamara began, “Not a lot of us get this opportunity in life and when we do, we do everything we can to not go back.” Tamara started the car. You knew that you wouldn’t come back to this life, but something within you was going to miss it. Miss the little moments of happiness that made you feel like you had a home, but now you had an actual home. It wasn’t the ideal home, but it was a home and you had someone who gave you a sense of family even if it wasn’t picture-perfect.

Can I ask if you're still going to make Pedro pascal content? Obviously, write whatever you want to write about, and I have still been reading the rookie fics you have been writing despite never seeing the show. I will probably read whatever you write bc I love it all that much, but I am still obsessed with pedro. I am working very hard to make sure this doesn't come off as rude bc I don't wanna be mean 😭 I'm genuinely just wondering.
I’m still gonna do Pedro content! lol I’m just in the rookie phase. I’m hoping to get this out of my system so I can get back into writing for Pedro because I miss writing Pedro content I just can’t seem to do two things at once 😭

You watched from the distance as your dad tried on different dress shirts in his bedroom. You had seen your father go on many first dates… maybe ‘many’ is an exaggeration, but that was beside the point, the point was that you had never seen him this nervous. He looked like a girl trying to find the right dress for the school dance, you couldn’t help but smile. He was in love.
You pulled out your phone, sending a quick text to Tamara
 He’s a mess, you sent.
A few seconds later your phone buzzed in your hands,
So is she lol.
You couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle, “What’s so funny?” Your dad asked as he gave you a quick glance.
You shook your head, “you guys have no idea how nervous you both are.”
He sighed, “Should I call her?” You gave him a nod. Tim gave you a smile, “First, what do you think?” he raised up a dark grey shirt next to a light gray one.
You rolled your eyes, “Does it even matter?”
“What if it clashes with her outfit?” He asked. After the two years you had lived with the man, this was the first time you had heard him say that phrase.
“I think all that matters is that you both are enjoying the date,” you suggested.
Tim looked at you with a smile on his face. After Isobel, he felt so lost within himself and somehow he found himself becoming a foster father to a young ten-year-old. It was only a year later that he began the adoption process. It was a long one, especially with the history with Isobel, he had waited a year and a half until the adoption was finalized. It was the best day of his life and he knows that there will be other days in his future that will try to complete, but he will always hold that day close to his heart. It was the day he learned how to be himself again, the day he learned that family didn’t always have to be by blood.
Now you were fourteen, looking forward to your fifteenth birthday coming up soon. A day that Angela was so busy preparing for because she knew as a Latina that you had to have a quinceanera, and Tim always tried his best to help you grow within your culture. It was one of the main reasons why he learned Spanish.
He let out a sigh as he reached for his phone, “do you-”
“If you don’t call her right now, I will call her myself, but I will video call her so she can see-”
“Alright, alright!” Tim chuckled as he dialed Lucy’s number.
You walked out of the room, sending Tamara another text.
I’m assuming you’re coming over with pizza? You sent.
You know me too well.
Ever since you met Tamara, she has been like an older sister. Maybe it was because the two of you were in the system and bonded over the traumatic shit both went through. Or because you both lived with cops that took you in and, although Chen is technically just her roommate, they were now your family.
Tim walked out of his room minutes later, “Alright, I am just a phone call away. Don’t forget to let Kojo out and please tell Tamara I said hi. Um- Am I forgetting anything?” He asked as he began patting his pants pockets.
“Keys and they’re in the key bowl by the door,” you stated as you scrolled through Netflix, Tim walked over to the key bowl, rolling his eyes as he grabbed his keys, “Bold of you to assume Tamara is coming over.”
“Is she not?” He asked.
“No, she is,” you smiled.
“That’s what I thought,” he sighed, “Don’t open the door for anyone but Tamara. You know the drill, make sure it’s her before you even op-”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, Can you go already so we can get this whole Lucy and Tim being continuously nervous over with?”
Tim took in a small breath, he couldn’t help but catch that you had called him by his first name. It had been two years already and you were still calling him Tim. Of course, he didn’t know how to tell you that calling him dad was okay with him and he didn’t want you to feel pressured to do so; but just hearing it would mean everything to him.
He gave you a small nod, “Call me if anything, alright? And make sure to turn on the alarm when I leave.”
“Yes, sir,” you watched as he walked out of the house, you waited for the sound of the lock before turning back around to continue your scrolling.
Twenty minutes later, you heard the doorbell ring, which was then followed by a phone call.
You quickly answered, “I assume you’re outside,” you said as you got up from the couch.
“Your assumptions are correct,” Tamara said. You opened the door to let Tamara in. She had been carrying a bag, of what you assumed is junk food, along with a box of pizza. “Alright, so I found this new candy that you just have to try!”
You locked the door behind Tamara, “Alright, but first I need a slice of pizza because I am starving!” You followed Tamara as she walked into the kitchen to put down the box of pizza. You instantly opened it and grabbed a slice, “I can’t believe I watched Tim go through every single nice shirt in his closet like he didn’t even do that on his first date with Asley!”
“Oh, you think that’s bad? Lucy’s whole closet is now on her bed,” Tamara commented as she unpacked the bag of junk food. “Do you guys have sodas?”
“Yeah, in the fridge,” you gestured towards the fridge. Tamara helped herself, as she always does when she comes over, and she came over quite a bit. “Why do you call your dad by your first name?” Tamara blurted out.
You shrugged, “I dunno, I guess… I guess I just feel like I am not allowed to call him dad.”
“But he adopted you”
“Yeah, but… I don’t know. I’ve wanted to, I just feel like I lost the moment to do so since it’s been two years since the adoption.” Tamara opened the box for a slice of pizza, “Has he talked to you about it? Or Lucy?”
Tamara looked down, “I know Lucy’s mentioned it. Something about he feels like he’s doing something wrong.”
You sighed, “What do you think?”
“I’m the last person you want to ask that.” You gave her a pleading look, and she let out a sigh, “Look, if it were me, the timing wouldn’t matter. He gave you a family, a home, he made you feel loved after everything you had been through in life… in a way, he gave you a second chance that not a lot of us get.”
She was right and you knew that. It had meant a lot coming from Tamara since she never got the opportunity to get this chance. She would argue that she did when Lucy took her in, but in a way it was different.
“Should I just do it randomly? Like just ‘Good morning, dad,’ just nonchalant about it?” You asked.
“Something like that,” Tamara smiled, “You’ll know how to do it when you feel ready and I think you know that you are.”
The two of you ate pizza and watched Game of Thrones for the next hour. At some point, you had gotten up and let Kojo out to the backyard, he had been whining by the door for a while.  Tamara had taken that opportunity to get up to grab some snacks when all the lights went out, you looked over at Tamara.
“Whoa,” She exclaimed.
“This is fine,” you stated as you got up from the couch. “Tim usually keeps a flashlight in a drawer in the kitchen,” you walked over to the kitchen, rummaging through the drawers. It didn’t take you long to find the flashlight. You shined it at Tamara who had her phone flashlight on.
Tamara sighed as she walked over to the window, “That’s weird.”
“What?” you walked over to her. You were quick to notice that the houses across the street still had power.
“Looks like the neighbors next door also have power,” Tamara pointed out. You looked over at the neighbors to your left, she was right, “Did Tim forget to pay something?”
You scoffed, “No, he’s pretty good at paying the bills on time.”
The sound of the floorboard creaking caused the two of you to quickly turn your heads, “I didn’t move,” Tamara whispered.
“Neither did I,” you whispered back. You felt your heart leap into your throat, “Maybe I should call Tim,” you whispered as you took your phone out of your pocket. As soon as you had unlocked it you noticed the no bar signal on the top right corner. “Fuck,” you whispered. Kojo was scratching at the door, whining to get back in.
“What?”
You showed her your phone, “I have no signal.”
“W-what? How?”
You looked around for something to use as a weapon, “I’ve heard Tim mentioned this before. Some people use jammers in order to block a phone’s signal.”
“You think someone is-” You held up your finger, Tamara stopped talking. The two of you fell silent, listening to the floorboards creaking increasingly.
“We need to get out of here,” you whispered. You glanced over at the door, “I’m gonna grab kojo-”
“No, if Tim were here he’d want you out, Kojo can fend for himself,” Tamara stated. Tamara quietly walked over to the kitchen grabbing a pan that was on the stove. You slowly walked through the living room, you knew Tim had a bat lying around somewhere for emergencies.
What happened next was a blur. One second you were looking over at Tamara as she inched closer to the front door and the next you were on the ground and you heard yelling. You fought back as the person who was attacking you pulled out a knife. You were trying your best to use the techniques Tim had shown you, but this man was tougher than you had ever imagined. You knew that it wasn’t an excuse, that even if he was tougher and bigger than you, you had to find a way to defend yourself.
“I got the other one,” you heard another voice yell out. You hadn’t realized there were two of them.
You looked over at where Tamara was, “Tamara, run!” You yelled out. You could see the hesitation in her, “Go!”
Tamara felt like running would be the biggest mistake, but she knew there was no way of getting help by staying here. The second man inched closer to her, she swung the pan that she had in her hands, hitting the man in the head, it was enough to stun him so she could get a running start. She ran out of the house and into the neighbor's front yard, running up to the door; she began banging on it, “Help!”
You, on the other hand, were trying to get out of the man's grip. You sucked in a breath knowing that you had to do something you never wanted to do. You opened your mouth and bit the man's arm as hard as you could, he let out a loud yell and let go of you.
“You bitch!” he yelled out as he lunged towards you with his knife.
You lunged away from him, trying to dodge the knife, but he was bigger than you and still quicker than you. You felt a sharp pain in your side, “What the fuck did you do, Rick?!” The other guy asked as he came back inside. “Do you have any idea what he’ll do to us if we bring her in like this?” You reached down to where you felt the pain coming from, feeling something sticky. The more you touched it, the more pain you felt. Your knees buckled and you fell to the ground.
“Fuck,” the man named Rick, looked at the knife and then at you. “I-I can fix this.”
“No! Forget it! It’s been compromised! We have to go, the other girl ratted us out!” The man began to make his way to the back door. “Let’s go!” he yelled out again. You lay on the ground, watching as the blurry image of them ran out of the house.
~~
Tim couldn’t help but look towards the door every other second. Was part of him worried someone from the station would see him? Yes. But also, he had a habit of looking at the door every time someone walked in, especially when he was nervous.
“Are you worried someone from the station is gonna walk in?” Lucy asked.
“What?”
“You are,” Lucy said in disbelief.
“No, I-”
“Wow.”
“What are the odds?”
Lucy rolled her eyes, “It’s likely.” She cleared her throat, she didn’t want to have this discussion right now. “So, Y/N’s quince is coming up, how is that coming?”
“Good, good. I um probably going to be in debt for the next year so you can expect a nice Christmas card from us rather than nothing but emptiness inside.”
Lucy chuckled, “Angela is running you dry with this quince.”
“That she is. Anything Y/N wants, she gets. I swear she spoils her like she's her own kid.”
Lucy smiled, “I’ve noticed.” Lucy’s phone began to ring, she took it out, letting out a small chuckle at the sight of the name. “It’s Tamara, the girls are probably trying to check in on us,” she rolled her eyes. “Should I let it go to voicemail?”
Tim wanted to say yes let it go to voicemail, but there was a voice in the back of his head telling him not to. “Answer it,” he smiled, “Two can play this game,” he teased.
Lucy placed the phone on speaker, “Before you even ask, yes we are still at the restaurant and no I am not bringing you leftovers, I know you guys had pizza,” Lucy said with a hint of laughter behind her voice.
“Lucy,” Tamara cried out.
Lucy and Tim’s facial expressions changed, “Tamara, what’s wrong?” Tim spoke up.
“It all happened so quickly,” Tamara began.
“Just take a deep breath, Tamara,” Lucy began, “What happened?”
Tamara let out a soft sob, “Someone broke in the house. They cut the power and we had no way to call anyone. I-I ran to the neighbors for help, but Y/N was still inside, I-I’m sorry, I couldn’t get to her.”
Tim felt his chest tightened, suddenly this world no longer felt safe. In all his years working as an officer, he never imagined this to happen. Yes, he was prepared for it, or so he thought he was, but now, this world was more of a menacing place than he had realized.
Tim wanted to tell Tamara that it was okay, but he couldn’t, because to him, nothing was okay at the moment. He had failed the one promise he had kept to himself the day he took you in and that was to keep you safe. Now the one day he decided to be vulnerable and comfortable, it all came crashing down.
Tim got up from his seat, “Where are you?” Lucy asked.
“St. Vincents,” He heard Tamara say as he left a few bills on the table and began walking away. Lucy told Tamara that they’d be there in a few before catching up with Tim.
“Tim,” Lucy began, you could hear the pain within her voice. “Tim,” Lucy pleaded. Tim quickly turned around as they got outside. “I’m driving,” Lucy stated as the exited the restaurant.
“No-”
“No,” Lucy exclaimed as she got in front of Tim, “you’re not in the right mindset to be driving right now.” Tim opened his mouth to argue with her, “I’m driving.”
Tim closed his mouth and gave her a nod. They got into Lucy’s car and drove off to the hospital. Lucy broke a few laws that day, but Tim probably would’ve broken a hundred just to get there sooner. Tim didn’t wait for the car to be fully parked to hop out, he was already inside the emergency room making his way to the receptionist when Lucy made her way into the hospital.
“My daughter was just brought in, her name is-”
“Tim,” Lucy choked out, her eyes had landed on a horrific sight in front of her.
“Lucy!” Tamara called out, Tim turned around just in time to see Tamara running over to Lucy. He looked around for you, hoping to see you running up to him, but his heart sank deeper every second that passed. He walked over to the girls, his eyes landed on what Lucy was focusing on.
“Oh God,” he let out a shaky breath, as he watched nurses surrounding work on your wounds. He ran up to you, one hand grabbing yours and the other brushing the hair out of your face. “Y/N, sweetie, it’s me,” Tim began, “I'm here, okay?” he brought your hand up to his lips and placed a small kiss on them. He felt the tears begin to stream down his cheeks. “Is she going to be okay?”
One of the nurses let out a deep sigh, “The stab wound barely missed one of her aorta’s by an inch, it did knick her one of her lungs causing her to loose a significant amount of blood.” one of the other nurses began to lift the handles on the side.
“We’ll be needing to take her up to surgery now, to repair the damages,” another nurse said.
Tim couldn’t find the strength to let go, but he knew he had to. “Tim,” Lucy began, “they need to take her.” She placed a loving hand on his shoulder.
Tim felt tears begin to well up in his eyes, he placed a small kiss on your forehead, “We’ll get through this okay? You can’t leave me.”
Lucy felt like the villain as she pulled Tim away from you, but she knew he wouldn’t have been able to do it on his own.
Tim looked over at Tamara, “What happened?”
Tamara let out a small sob, “I-I don’t know. One second we were watching Game of Thrones and the next the power goes off.” She took in a deep breath, “We decided it was safer to be outside of the house once we realized we had no signal, she wanted to get Kojo but I told her to just leave him outside and that’s when they attacked her. I should’ve stayed with her,” she looked at Tim with remorseful eyes, “I’m so sorry, she told me to run, but I should’ve stayed.”
Tim shook his head, “No, you got help, if it weren’t for you, you both would’ve probably been worse off.”
“Tim,” Lucy called as she spotted Sgt. Grey walks towards them.
“Sir,” Tim began.
“I came as fast as I could, How is she?” he asked.
Tim sighed, shaking his head, “She’s in surgery, the stab wound hit one of her lungs.”
Sgt. Grey shook his head, before turning to Tamara, “We’re going to need your statement if you’re up to it, if not we can always wait for tomorrow.”
“I think after all they’ve been through, I think it’s best if we wait for tomorrow,” Lucy chimed in.
Tamara gave him a nod, “Tomorrow it is.” Sgt. Grey stated. He looked over at Tim, he noticed he hadn’t said much. His eyes were focused on the double doors where they had just wheeled you through. He walked closer to Tim as Lucy and Tamara walked over to some nearby chairs to sit down. “How are you holding up?” Sgt. Grey asked.
Tim shook his head, “I wasn’t there.”
“And you won’t always be there,” Sgt. Grey confirmed. “You can’t always be there, it’s one of the things we have to get used to when being a parent. We have to hope we raise them with enough knowledge so they know what to do in situations like this.” He let out a sigh, “trust me, it isn’t easy.”
Tim nodded, “I’ve noticed.”
“You let me know if you need anything,” Sgt. Grey gave Tim a soft smile before walking over to the nurse's station. Tim walked over to Lucy, sitting down beside her. No words were exchanged and somehow he preferred it this way. Lucy held his hand, squeezing it every once in a while as if she were checking in on him and he would squeeze back.
Tim felt like he had been waiting for days when in reality it had only been an hour. His eyes never left the double doors that were ahead of them, his body would jump every time someone would walk through them.
Eventually, a man in scrubs walked through them, his eyes scanning the lobby of people waiting to be seen or waiting for a patient. “Family of Y/N Bradford?” He called out.
Tim quickly got up from his seat, “I’m her father,” he quickly stated as he walked up to the man. “How is she?”
“Hello, I’m Dr. Avery, I was the lead surgeon. I am happy to say that the surgery was a success,” Tim let out a relieved sigh. “We’ll need to keep her for a few days for observation of course, but she’ll be good to go home after.”
Tim smiled at the man, “Thank you, when can I see her?”
“She’s in recovery right now, I can only allow one visitor,” The doctor stated.
Tim looked at Lucy, “Go, we’ll come back in the morning,” Lucy said.
“Do you mind stopping by my place and picking up Kojo? I think Y/N would kill me if she knew he stayed the night outside.”
Lucy let out a small chuckle, “Yeah, we’ll pick him up.”
“I’ll have you follow me,” the doctor gestured for Tim to follow him.
Tim followed Dr. Avery to the recovery room, he knew this hospital too well to know where he was going, but he never thought he would have to be here for a reason like this and he never wanted to be in this hospital again unless it was for work. Once he got to the room, the doctor left to finish up some paperwork.
Tim sat beside the bed, he gently held your hand. You looked so fragile to him as if you were a newborn, he was scared that one wrong move would hurt you. He waited by your bedside throughout the night. The morning sunlight began to peak through the windows, causing him to wake up. He gave you a small glance, sighing once he realized you were still asleep.
He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes once again, hoping to get some extra sleep.
You began to stir, you could feel the pain in your abdomen and you heard beeping. Slowly opening your eyes, beginning to realize that you were now in the hospital, the last thing you remember was watching the two men run out of the house. “Dad?” you called out with panic in your voice.
Tim’s eyes darted open, “Hey,” he said as he sat up in his chair. He grabbed your hand, he was overjoyed that you were awake, but also overjoyed of the fact that you had just called him dad for the first time. Although he was trying to hide his excitement because he didn’t know how to react to it, he had been waiting for this moment for so long and now it was here but the situation was overshadowing it.
“How are you feeling?” He asked.
“Like shit,” you stated.
You winced as you tried to sit up, “Let’s try not to do that for now, alright? I know you’re uncomfortable, but I can get the nurses in-”
You waved your hand to stop him, “No, I’m fine.”
“You want to talk about what happened?” He asked.
You shrugged, “It all happened so quickly. The lights went out and Tamara noticed that the neighbors had electricity and that’s when we tried to call you, but our phones had no signal.”
“Looks like they used a jammer,” Tim speculated.
“That’s what I thought, we decided to leave but I wanted to get Kojo-”
“Kojo can take care of himself,” he stated.
“Tamara said you would say that, but someone attacked me as I got into the living room. Tamra was already at the door and she hit the other guy with a pan before running to the neighbors. I used all the techniques you taught me,” you felt tears well up in your eyes, “I tried-”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. You fought back and you’re alive. That’s what matters right now,” Tim placed a kiss on the top of your head.
“I remember one more thing,” you began. “When the guy that attacked me stabbed me, the other guy got mad. He said ‘Do you have any idea what he’ll do to us if we bring her in like this?’ in those exact words.”
Tim felt the panic rush through his body, if his gut was right, he knew what these men were talking about. “Do you think they were planning on taking me?” You asked.
Tim didn’t want you panicking, he didn’t want you to feel like you couldn’t be safe because someone was looking for you. “I don’t think so,” he began, “But Angela is on the case, you’ll tell her what you told me and we’ll get this straightened out.” You nodded, “Now, how about we talk about the elephant in the room.”
You looked at him with a confused expression “What elephant?”
“You called me dad,” he smiled.
You rolled your eyes, “I can go back to calling you Tim.”
He chuckled, “No, no, it’s about time you called me dad. I was starting to worry you weren’t going to.”
“I felt like I lost my chance to do so,” you confessed.
“Honestly, if you had waited twenty years to call me dad, I would probably be sad that you waited twenty years but, overjoyed that you did,” he smiled.
“Be honest with me,” You began. “There isn’t anyone from my past that’s looking for me right?” You hadn’t spoken about your past in a few years, it was something you wanted to leave behind. “The last thing I need is these fantasmas (ghosts) coming back,” you added.
Tim sighed, “I don’t know, but you have me there and I can promise that from here on out–”
You shook your head, “You can promise to keep me safe but let’s face it, you’re not there with me when I’m at school or when you’re at work.”
“You’re right, I’m not. But I’m a cop. I have my ways and I know you too well.”
You smiled, “Yeah, I think you do.”
“Plus, if anyone does kidnap you, they’ll return you in two minutes.”
Your face turned into shock, “Wh-what?”
“Trust me, I don’t think they’ll be able to stand the twenty questions they’ll be getting from you or even the karaoke. I give them two minutes before they return you,” you let out a small laugh before you winced in pain. Tim sighed, he knew no matter what that he was going to protect you, and if he failed to do so, he was going to do everything he possibly could do, to get you back.
