As much as I wish Harrim’s cool side wasn’t hidden away into banter (what he has to say about the branded trolls or the Bleaching ought to be unmissable IMO) The real “Aha!” Moment I had about his character doesn’t even come from his dialogue, it comes from Ekun greeting Jarlmund with the presumably conventional saying of: “May the Father of Creation never leave you,” and that just put all of Harrim’s bitterness into perspective.

My Golarion lore is terrible but this really sounds like a common and therefore constantly repeated phrase which would have picked at him, reinforcing that for him Torag was never there! It wasn’t just direct ostracisation, but a whole atmosphere that treats all endeavors as divinely inspired which contributed to the lapse in his faith!

He tells you as much from the start, but that’s when I really got him.

Blackout poetry exists on a dual axis from "banal" to "insightful" on the input side and "kind of deep" to "incredibly fucking dumb" on the output side, and while taking something banal and producing something kind of deep is well and fine, for my money taking something insightful and rendering it incredibly fucking dumb is where the real art is.
