Not to be insane but I feel like one reason I mighta sunk so many hours into PMD was because they rarely if ever use pronouns for the MC from what I can remember. And the whole time my child brain could just be like I am not human I am Pokémon. And all my “human problems” could simply fade into a static in the background. Like not being able to dress how I wanted, my body changing in ways I didn’t want it to, the confusion of having a gender that people judged and forced traits upon me for. All of that could be ignored by staring harshly for 5 hours at tiny screen that forever damaged my vision but let me escape. I could just be a goddam pokemon with a best friend I cared deeply about n that’s all I wanted.
Also I am re-reading warrior cats and like the first time firepaw gets his new name and is called it for very first time. That line is like pure trans/non-binary joy I think. (Totally not projection at all WHATSOEVER)
