Nathan is a fan of chocolate. He loves candy bars. Big, big sweet tooth on this guy. You ask him his favorite, though, and he'll say it's dark chocolate. Just black chocolate. Highest amount of cacao you can get. Blacker than the blackest black and all that. This is not true. He likes milk chocolate.

Jean-Pierre knows this, and he's so devoted that he adds just enough food coloring to his chocolate treats that they appear super dark while holding onto the yummy milk chocolate taste.

Nathan gives him a couple hundred bucks as a tip any time he does 🖤

My headcanons for Anthony and Dizzy's respective fathers

Dizzy: Drizella is married to Prince Hans, officially legally married and everything, because Lady Tremaine wanted at least one of her daughters to marry a prince and illegitimate heirs can't inherit the throne. Not that the odds of Hans himself inheriting the throne are very high, what with him being the thirteenth son, but there's not exactly a surplus of princes on the Isle, so Lady Tremaine will take what she can get.

Anthony: Anthony's father is that baker Anastasia fell in love with. Does this mean Anastasia was pregnant when she was sent to the Isle? Or that Anthony was born in Auradon? Or that the baker was sent to the Isle solely because he loved a villain? It varies depending on whatever headcanon I'm currently fixating on.

the side missing from the circle (pt 1)

He was fine playing along with the punch line. It reminds him of his abusive foster mother Teresa, and the one psychology class he took where they talked about what love bombing is, because many of the campers have been pairing punches with hugs and cheek kisses.

He was fine to smile through it, because obviously, this wasn't a situation where he could reason his way out. They aren't in the mood to listen to his explanations, and the quickest way out, the cleanest way out is to pretend that he finds it funny too.

And he was fine with that. He was fine with helping Apollo figure out his next steps and getting out of camp, because most of the people he wanted to see weren't even here. It was good to see Percy and Buford and his siblings, but he has to find the rest of his family, Jason and Piper, Hazel and Frank. So, he was perfectly content to just smile and then leave.

But then one of the kids takes his turn hitting him and then… goes to get back in line. Leo jokingly complains about this, because he's good at turning grievances into jokes. He thinks maybe Nico and all his organizational skills and take no bullshit attitude that's kept the line running so smoothly this far would do something about this breach of conduct, but no, he doesn't.

Across the picnic table from him, Apollo asks, "Do you even know Damien?"

Leo shakes his head with an exaggerated expression of 'can you believe this guy?’

Apollo, ever polite, says, "Damien White, son of Nemesis. I think he showed up this fall."

Oh, he showed up at camp after the Argo II had sailed.

Leo jumps up from the table and catches Damien before he can reach the end of the line. He lightly places a hand on Damien's shoulder to get his attention and when he turns around Leo stands on his toes to whisper something in his ear. Leo's hands cup Damien's ear, so no one can see what he's saying, but the expression on Damien's face speaks volumes. His smile stiffens then drops and he turns pale, his eyes wide and unfocused.

When Leo's finished with whatever it is he had to say, he rests back on his heels, looking up at the other boy with a smile that looks completely benign, playful and lighthearted. Damien just turns his head to look at him with those wide eyes then pushes through the crowd to leave the central green.

Everyone has been watching, the humorous, edgy mood bleeding into discomfort and unease. It only gets worse when Leo just watches Damien go without a change of expression. Then turns back to the rest of the assembled campers and seeing that most have stepped out of line, he asks, "So, who was next?"

His smile looks more like the kind he used to have when doing something wild, the kind that unnerves people and prickles at their latent danger instinct.

The rest of the campers exchange looks with each other, the mood completely gone, and kind of mutter about how they're glad he's okay and that he's a real jerk for doing that to them, but they all disperse.

Leo turns his smile to Nico then, still standing there holding the number dispenser. He doesn't look cowed, just annoyed and suspicious.

"What did you say to Damien?"

"Wouldn't you like to know," Leo says, as he passes by on his way back to the picnic table.

Nico's not going to admit it, but yeah, Leo's right.

This is such a good point!! All of these characters would be extremely intriguing to see, because it would say so much about their personalities!! Kind of like how you only miss something when it's already gone, there's a lot about each of them that wouldn't be easy to notice until they start acting different.

(Other options included Kate, Reynie, Sticky, Martina, and Cannonball)

Cannonball would be a lot less intense, so I think he'd be alright with the concept of stowaways and wouldn't be angry at seeing the kids again or anything. But I bet he never stops using nautical terms all the live long day. He starts a knot tying club/class and then it progresses into artistic macrame. He's honestly probably having a great time except for the fact that he's brainwashed and possibly going to go catatonic.

The most fun thing in my opinion would be S. Q. being forced to be happy, because while initially it might come off as innocent, like Mr. Benedict, it would quickly escalate into horror movie levels of creepy. Excessive positiveness goes against his personality so much, and he's such an attentive kid that him being all oblivious and passive would be wildly uncomfortable. (There are so many points that could be used in a multitude of ways in this scenario and I definitely agree that it would be great to read about it)

Even without the threat of going catatonic, any of the children getting brainwashed would be incredibly sad because of how much it changes them. In a way, it could be pushed as sadly ironic, since most of them had some kind of wish at one time or another to be more "normal" and be able to make friends, and this would technically give them that.

Martina is a whole other story, because while I don't think she'd be compliant even when she was Happy (Her passion is too much to be contained by Curtain's tricks and she'd probably start a tetherball team at the compound), she is probably highly susceptible to it because of how insecure she is. She puts a lot of pressure on herself to be perfect enough to win her parents' attention, and she is also struggling at that point with not fitting in with her new team.

Garrison definitely needs some relaxation, but I think she's too smart to fall for it for long. She helped invent half of Curtain's ideas, I doubt she doesn't know how the whole process works inside and out. She might decide to surrender to it just so that she doesn't have to be engaged with his harebrained scheme.

Jeffers, on the other hand. He would definitely be under it in a heartbeat, and, honestly? It might actually make him more competent at his job because he's not constantly seeking Curtain's approval.

I actually think that it would be kind of neat to see Jackson and Jillson brainwashed, because being Happy doesn't necessarily mean that they'll automatically listen to Curtain. In contrast to Jeffers, they might be worse at their jobs, because they would lose all their critical thinking skills. I guess that's why Curtain didn't brainwash them or the Grays, because he needs at least a few people who can do things. Aside from S. Q., I think that these two might be the most likely to get Curtain to realise what he was doing is wrong. (Maybe once he sees how much he misses them, he can recognise that he's making a terrible decision. Probably not, but one can hope)

Personally, I really like the concept that when we see Curtain talking to himself in the mirror in Season 2, he isn't practicing as much as he's attempting to brainwash himself because he feels awful and is slowly falling apart because even though Nicholas is there he isn't himself and Curtain is feeling very alone. So there's that whole angle, but I don't think that, especially as the creator of the technique and someone who's probably as smart as Mr. Benedict, he can ever fully be under. So he's constantly warring with himself, between his despair and his need to be in control but his growing fear of hurting the people he loves (Mainly Nicholas).

Tagged by @ratracechronicler to share something! It was surprisingly difficult to find something in the last 50k+ words to share that wasn’t spoilers.

But the only context you’ll need to know for this is that Connor Millard is Dr. Agau’s executive assistant.

He thought about playing on her nostalgia, and evoking an emotional reason to allow him to accompany her. Surely, she doesn’t like being on her own, and wishes she had company, too.

There was a problem with that assumption, though. It didn’t fit her. Interactions with the other woken subjects was the most social Connor had ever seen Beth. She would always answer scientist-posed questions, but the number of Agau Laboratories employees cleared to interact with a young Experiment One could fit on one hand. Dr. Agau was always careful to ensure Beth received the calculated amount of social interaction required to develop properly, but it was still a common enough sight to see her sitting by herself in the corner, happily playing with blocks, or reading a book, or whatever activity she had had provided.

So it is far more likely that Beth doesn’t need anybody following her around, slowing her down. Besides, Connor wouldn’t have jumped out of a helicopter. If he flew out to Texas, he would probably be sitting at a hotel room, as bored as he is now.
