The secret gift.
Synopsis: The truth behind Ethan's first Christmas with Aspen's family.
For @choicesficwriterscreations holiday event using the prompt buying a naughty present for LI and mum ends up on the line behind them.
Jade and Tatum giggled once more in a hushed tone as they threw another ball of wrapping paper at Ethan who had, after a long day at work, passed out on the couch. He snored lightly and the girls took turns throwing the paper in tune with his snores.
Aspen walked in, noticing the scene before her, the girls looked at their mother for approval but on this rare occasion she gave them a glare, yet gently whispering.
"Stop it you two. He's had a difficult day and whatever he may say, he tires out. "
She nudged them back to actually begin wrapping the gifts. Since only Jonah was actually young enough for the whole Santa thing, he was already tucked in and fast asleep. The girls were on wrapping duty while Aspen put things in order in the kitchen, Ethan had done most of it when she had been out Christmas shopping and picking the girls up from the airport, who had visited her parents in Florida for Christmas break.
She gazed at the living room as she cleaned up, joining her family in the warm glow of the Christmas tree. She noticed Ethan had woken up and was entertaining the girls who were now too busy laughing.
Aspen walked in, wrapping her arms around Ethan's neck from the back as one of his hands came to rest atop hers. He looked up smiling at his wife, they shared a quick kiss before Aspen joined him on the couch.
Pulling the throw around their bodies, they stared at each other, momentarily forgetting their company.
"Dada! You were telling us about your first Christmas at Nana's. " Tatum reminded, grinning slightly.
"What about it? "
"Don't you think you forgot to mention something? Cause Nana told us quite a story. " Jade chided, throwing a furtive glance at her mother.
Ethan's eyes followed to land on his wife who seemed to have suddenly caught on, going red and flustered, she glared at Jade for broaching the subject. Curious, Ethan asked,
"What did she say? "
"Oh, a terrible mistake, a horrible run in. " Jade continued, Tatum threw herself onto the carpet, putting up a show of distress.
" Jade Ivy Ramsey!! Stop it! "
"It's the reason mom took you to Florida for Christmas. "
Ethan's head once again turned to his wife who looked a little resigned and uncomfortable as she began explaining.
"Remember how I called you to join me after I was in Tampa? It's cause my mom.... met me at the check out. "
"Yeah! Nana said you were buying Dad a present but it was a secret and Nana found out so she threatened to tell him unless he joined you for Christmas. "
"What was it, the gift? "
"Uh,... his favorite....coffee machine. He hated the hospital coffee. " She replied a little lamely, thankfully the girls didn't catch on, convinced by their mothers reply, Ethan however, was the better judge.
Soon after, they all headed to bed and Ethan finally confronted his wife.
"The coffee machine? "
"Uh yeah.. About that. " She answered sheepishly, once again her cheeks turning red at the old memory.
"Remember the Christmas special lingerie? "
"Of course I do. " Ethan replied, smirking at the various instances, which sadly ended when the flimsy cloth was unable to put up with their list filled frenzy. Suddenly, his brows drew together, confused at the change of subject.
"My mom caught me buying that. "
"You... What? " Ethan's mouth fell open, eyes flicking with horror, he continued staring mutely at his wife.
"I was in the check out line and mum happened to be behind me. I was talking to Sienna at the time, telling her how you would definitely appreciate the gift, with red being your favorite and all.. I got a little carried away.. Anyway, she firmly insisted that she simply must meet the man who would 'in so many ways ravage me' and 'make it the best Christmas Eve and morning ever. "
"No No... Penny.. She knew the whole time! "
"Since the first time she met you. At least she didn't tell the girls the whole truth, I need to have a word with her about that. "
He sat down on the bed, sighing heavily before meeting his wife's gaze.
Aspen straddled him, taking his jaw in her hand and connecting his lips to hers. Pushing him onto his elbows, she gently sucked at his pulse point, soothing it with her tongue. He moaned loudly as she moved away to pull her shirt off.
" I have always maintained you will be the death of me, Rookie. "
"Don't you dare tell me you don't like it. How about I try to find that lingerie again? "

The Ramsey-Kallie babies.
I thought I'd introduce you to the Ramsey-Kallie kids. In my HC, they continue living in Ethan's apartment, only moving to a double condo on a different floor when they are pregnant with Tatum.
The age gap is 3 years between the girls and baby boy is born years later. This is sort of like a part one, I'm thinking of doing one more of when they're all grown up.
1. Jade Ivy Ramsey.
Born : February 3
Nicknames : Jadie girl/Jadie-bug (by Ethan), doll (by Aspen)
Aspen found out she was pregnant with Jade three weeks before their wedding,they decided not to tell anyone immediately so they waited until she was two months along before breaking the news.
Funnily enough,it was Ethan who broached the topic of trying,he had a serious case of baby fever when he visited the paediatric ward and found Penny helpingSienna with the toddlers. After that,all he could think about were their babies together. They talked about it and Aspen always wanted to have kids so they decided there was no time like the present.
Two weeks later,she was pregnant! They were both shocked by how quickly it happened. They did find out the gender,Aspen was too eager to know and Ethan secretly was hoping for a baby girl. He took most things in stride,while during the second month Aspen worried about the baby having all the diseases she could think of(and she knows way too many).
10 hours of labour later,Jade was born. She has Ethan eyes but her mothers smile. Her hair is dark blond,which surprised both her parents cause most people in their families had darker hair except River, Aspen’s sister. She is left handed, just like Aspen.
Personality wise, she is kind, understanding, she has her father's sarcasm, stubborn, ambitious, has a tad bit of a temper.
Ever since she could crawl, she’d follow Ethan everywhere and that didn’t stop anytime soon. She is always pretty good in her academics and later decides to pursue CA course at U Penn. She is the queen of late night study sessions but can't wake up early in the morning.
She LOVES animals, and growing up with Jenner around is a dream come true for her. She also trains in gymnastics and has an amazing voice.
She is a daddy's girl and Ethan is wary of any guy who she might bring home, the thought of it fills him with slight dread.
2. Tatum Caroline Ramsey.
Born : April 16
Nicknames: Tate(by Aspen), Tater tot and little rookie ( by Ethan)
When Jade was a year old, Aspen wanted to start trying again but Ethan felt it was a little too soon for him. However, the idea of having another bundle of joy, the tiny little toesies was enough to make him cave.
It took them almost a year to get pregnant with Tatum, they had crazy schedules, Ethan immersed in the welfare of the hospital and Aspen leading the team, they had a serious lack of quality time. Whatever they did have, they would spend with Jade.
Aspen was distraught with every negative pregnancy test and just before finally getting pregnant, she was seriously worried she couldn't have another child.
After a few months, they both did get tested and everything was fine, they never really thought it would be this tough, especially with how quickly it happened the first time around.
The pregnancy was smooth going but the little lady decided to make an early appearance. She was born almost five weeks prior to the due date. The two days, she was in the NICU were singlehandedly the most terrifying days in Ethan's life.
Tatum is a mini version of Aspen, with the same dark brown locks and dark honey orbs, cheeky smile and teasing attitude. Just like her mother, she is hilarious and she has definitely inherited her mother's sass,including Penny's love for sleep. Ethan loves seeing his Penny in his daughter.
He has a special place for Tatum in his heart( not that he loves any of his other children less) with all the complications leading up to her birth. It's a tiny version of his wife and he is absolutely delighted. He often calls her little rookie.
She is definitely the quieter one of the two. She loves her cuddles, content to sit in her daddy's lap when he's reading research papers and case studies or even working in his home office. That's how she learns to read, at the age of 4. Loves food and cooking, often Ethan and her will cook while Jade and Aspen prefer to do the dishes.
She is a math genius,skips two classes and graduates from HS a year early. She purses a career in acturial science, graduating from Northeastern University in Boston. She trains in swimming and loves observing people from afar, so she takes up sketching.
As a child, she always gets into some kind of mischief, once breaking her leg and even having a pulled elbow. Ethan is always on his A game, ready to catch her anytime.

3. Jonah Kallie Ramsey
Born : August 19
Nickname: Bud or buddy other than that he prefers being called by his name.
This time around, Ethan insisted on having Kallie as the middle name. He had always assumed they would hyphenate but when Aspen had taken his last name, she wanted all the kids to have just Ramsey.
With Jonah, they weren't trying, it was unplanned. He was born 8 years after Tatum, so the age gap was pretty big. Both the girls wanted a baby brother and their parents shared the sentiment.
Aspen was pregnant at 39 this time around so they were wary of any complications. She had a minor blood pressure issue and had to be on complete bed rest the last 3 months. It was the most difficult pregnancy of the three for her, with her being at a higher position at the hospital and such, however Ethan, who had stepped down from his position as Chief shortly after Tatum's birth took Aspen's place as she decided to go on a much needed sabbatical.
Jonah was born 4 days after his due date and her labour almost lasted for 19 hours. Jonah was the easiest baby, never really crying too much and easily falling into a schedule.
His first word was actually 'Tate'. He is the baby of the family and both his sisters spoil him to death. He and Ethan go bike riding all the time and he loves carpentering with Alan every time they visit Providence.
He loves detective stories and mysteries which Aspen would read to him at bedtime. He plays basketball and tennis. He also plays the piano and enjoys gardening with his Nana.
He goes on to join the CIA earning a double major in criminal justice and foreign affairs from Florida State University.
He is very polite and just, shares Ethan's moral compass and values at the same time realises the reality of grey areas in life. He is passionate, calm outgoing, friendly and a good leader. He looks very much like Ethan, the only real difference is that his eyes are a little on the greener side as compared to his father's.

Summary: It's a snowy lunch break at Edenbrook.
The temperature may have been hovering just above freezing, but that wasn't enough to keep Aspen indoors this lunch break. Not the grounds surrounding Edenbrook were blanketed in beautiful, freshly fallen snow, just waiting to be enjoyed. If that didn't make her happy enough, she managed to wrangle a few friends and co-workers to join her, multiplying her joy.
As the group exited Edenbrook, they were astounded to see just how quiet the streets of Boston could be during a snowstorm, but the silence wouldn't last much longer... not with this crew entering the scene.
Sienna was the first to return to the days of childhood glory, tossing herself on the ground and flailing her arms and legs about.
"Ah! This is so cool!" she squealed as the others looked on.
"It looks downright cold to me," Aurora rebuffed.
"Hey, Trihn," Tobias jumped in. "Just makin' sure you're enjoying yourself, and this isn't some sort of a medical emergency."
Sienna jumped from the spot where she had been lying and gestured widely at her creation.
"It's a snow angel," she proclaimed. "Didn't you ever make a snow angel as a child?"
"Nope," he replied. "Never did. I guess what wasn't my thing."
"That may not have been, but I know what was!" Jackie yelled as a large snowball smacked Dr. Carrick on the side of the face.
"SNOWBALL FIGHT!" Aspen yelled, and it was every person for themselves as total chaos ensued.
Several minutes later, the cold and breathless crew was laughing like schoolchildren.
"I have to admit, this was fun!" Aurora announced. "But maybe we should start heading back in. There is a large mug of hot chocolate with my name on it."
"No!" Aspen hollered, turning all heads her way. "Not... not yet."
Tobias took a look around and noticed there was one doctor that Aspen hadn't been able to convince. Snow crunching under his feet, he walked over with a look of sympathy.
"Look, I know you love the guy... but even you can't make that curmudgeonly old man come out to play in the snow."
A look of determination crossed her face, and she smiled. "Lunch break isn't over... and besides, there is one more thing I want to do before we go inside... Ethan, or no Ethan."
Leaning over, she began rolling snow to form the base of what would become a very impressive snowman. Sienna, Jackie, and Aurora eagerly joined in to help when Tobias announced he'd go fetch warm beverages for all.
They were excited when they heard footsteps headed their way, but they were surprised to see another doctor headed their way. With a North Face jacket tossed over his scrubs, they couldn't tell if Ethan was amused or annoyed as he approached.
"You look cold," he deadpanned.
"What an observation!" Jackie mocked. "Now it's crystal clear how you graduated top of your class at Hopkins."
But, captivated by the way Aspen's eyes lit up when she saw him coming near, Ethan paid her no mind.
"Just in the nick of time!" She announced.
"For what?" He asked. "To drag you inside and stave off frostbite?"
"Probably that, too," she laughed, placing a large snowman's head in his hands with a thud.
"What's this?" he asked, leading Jackie to sigh with frustration.
"It's the head of a snowman! Jeez... Hopkins standards have really been going down, haven't they?"
"I know it's the head of a snowman," he defended. "I'm asking why Aspen gave it to me."
"Because you're tall enough to place it on his neck. I've sort of been struggling with that."
"Uhh, Aspen, aren't you supposed to put the head on and then decorate it."
"Sure, if you want to take the standard approach, but I'm anything but standard."
With a snort and a tender half-smile on his lips, Ethan was about to carry out the task, but not before being subjected to one more round of teasing.
"Well, look who made it outside," Tobias sneered, giving Aspen a wink. "That's some fairy dust you've got there, kid!"
Aspen gave a little bow behind Ethan. But Tobias wasn't done.
"What have you done to the snowman?" He continued. "Leave it to you to decapitate him."
"Decap.. decap... I'm not decapitating him. I'm putting the head on top."
Handing the paper coffee cups to the others, Tobias smirked wickedly. "As a testament to my personal growth, I will refrain from turning that statement into an inappropriate comment."
"OK, boys! Can we wrap this up and get back inside?" Jackie protested. "I can no longer feel my toes."
"Fine," Ethan said as he secured the snowman's head on top, to Aspen's delight.
Clapping her mittened hands together, she slipped under Ethan's arm and declared. "You're my hero!"
"Oh, I think I'm going to be sick," Jackie mumbled as Tobias clinked his cup against hers.
"I'll drink to that," he agreed.
"Hey! Did you get me one of those," Ethan asked, gesturing to the beverages.
"Nope. Thought you were still inside."
Beginning to shiver, Aspen decided inside was where they all should be, and in the same way, she got everyone outside, she began to shepherd them back to warmth.

"Have yourselves a merry little Christmas!! "
The staff of doctors, nurses, technicians and help of Edenbrook all raised their glasses in approval of the holiday cheer. Only a few stood impassively, the Annual Christmas Party nothing but a mere formality for them. The leader of his small group was none other than Ethan Ramsey, who dressed impeccably in his Armani blazer and pressed pants downed another drink, a necessity to survive the ordeal.
Truth be told, he'd never have even attended but for one junior fellow who had promised him that it would be well worth his time. Yet nowhere among the throngs could he spot the person he wanted. And then he saw her, his mouth going dry and eyes abashedly checking her out from head to toe, his body involuntarily deciding that if he didn't have her now he would most certainly die.
The light blush pink satin dress hugged her body, gently flowing slightly outward, ending mid calf, her gorgeous legs in nude stilettos. He observed the lack of a slit before his eyes landed on the dainty necklace enhancing her cleavage, inviting him in for more.
The refilled glass of scotch, slid harshly against the counter awoke him from his staring. The subject of his attention, however hadn't realized his apparent interest for she seemed still preoccupied in conversation with her colleagues.
A wave of laughter rippled through the room as people turned to look at one of the senior residents of the endocrinology department hang up mistletoes around the hall. Ethan's eyes followed him, slightly annoyed as he got closer to her table, she turned around, looking up at the plant and the man sitting opposite her, the paramedic he recognized.
They laughed before their friends joined forces pushing the two towards the tradition. He saw her nodding a 'No', only leaning in to give him a friendly kiss, excusing herself. She walked towards him, her deep honey eyes meeting his. Once she reached the bar, he finally heard her voice for the first time that evening.

I stopped next to Ethan, eyeing him through my peripheral vision, smirking slightly on feeling his gaze on me. Turning to the bartender,
"One martini, please. "
I slid closer to him, as he eyed me, close enough to prevent any eavesdropping, I whispered.
"Glad you came? "
His Adam's apple bobbed as he gulped his scotch, his perfect poker face on.
"That remains to be seen. "
"Why? "
"I assumed when you said it was worth my while, you were referring to whatever you have underneath this. "
"You know what they say, when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me. In truth, I have nothing underneath this, nothing."
To emphasize my point, I slipped my hand into his blazer pocket, pushing one of my panties in there and gently patting it.
"Penny.. I.. "
I grabbed my drink smiling at my victory, starting to walk away before his voice boomed. I stopped in my tracks, pleased by his demand.
"Dr Kallie, a word in private please. "
I turned around, walking towards the exit with Ethan in tow. Closing the door behind him, he rested his warm hand against my lower back, my body reacting almost embarrassingly to his simple touch. I glanced at him questioningly.
"In my office. "
He led me to the desired floor, the uninhabited corridor further aiding our devious desires as Ethan turned me around, picking me up bridal style and opening the door to his office with his shoulder.
"I thought you're home would be a more private place? "
"It would be but I'm not sure I can wait that long. "
I smiled as he put me down bolting the door. I rested gently against his desk, running my hands along it. I glanced nervously at the glass doors, although the top part was completely transparent, the lower three fourth of the glass was tinted, making it almost impossible to see anything with clarity.
Ethan's voice brought me back as he loosened his collar and opened his top two buttons.
"Prove it. "
"What? "
"That you have nothing on. "
"Well then, watch. "
I reversed our positions, pushing him against the desk before beginning to give him a show. I ran my hands up my thigh, gathering my dress. As I reached higher up, I let the fabric slip through my fingers pushing the straps of my shoulder next.
I slowly slid the dress off enjoying the way Ethan's knuckled turned white as he gripped the edges of the desk. And just like that I stood before him completely bared.
"Rookie, on the desk and spread your legs. Now. "
He clicked his fingers, pushing himself off and discarding his blazer and untucking his shirt. I got onto the desk, spreading my legs to give him a view. He lowered himself slightly taking one of my legs in his hands, removing my shoe and kissing his way up. Reaching my upper thigh, he stopped, repeating the same thing on my other legs.
His lips reached for mine, as messy kisses ensued. I tugged his bottom lip, sucking on it before moving my attention to his neck, his beard rough against my lips as I continued down his neck. His hands rested on either side of my hips as he pulled me closer, dry humping as he continued grinding against my slit, the friction causing a loud moan to erupt through me.
He pulled away, adding his fingers, setting a perfect pace and curling them inside me. He bent down pressing his lips against my clit, kissing it as my pleasure burst. Unable to take it anymore, I whimpered.
"Ethan, I need you in me. "
He unbuckled his pants, pushing them down with his boxers, his dick twitching in excitement. Pushing my legs wider, I lowered myself onto the desk, resting on my elbows as he towered over me, sliding his dick against my wetness, ready to go before backing away.
"What happened? "
He rounded the desk, opening a drawer followed by the noise of tearing a condom packet. Sliding it on he returned back to his place between my spread legs.
Thrusting in, he moaned, his eyes clouded by lust as he began thrusting deep, the desk creaking underneath me as the intensity of his thrusts grew. Objects clattered as he continued, grunting loudly as sweat began to slowly descend on our bodies.
I let out small moans and pants, the pleasure skyrocketing as one of his hands came to rest on the nape of my neck, his chiseled features shifting in pleasure as his granted loudly, signalling that he was close.
He pushed me down to lie on my back, the change in angle causing him to go deeper. My walls clenched as I screamed his name, his own release following mine as he steadied himself with both his hands on either side of my head.
I sighed as the waves of pleasure swept through me, my head swimming by his closeness. He pulled out, removing the condom and throwing it in the trash.
We reluctantly began putting ourselves together, dressing to look like we hadn't just had sex on his office desk.
"Ethan, give me my panties. "
"You certainly didn't seem to need them before. Tell you what, why don't you drop by my place later to pick them up. Keep my blazer in exchange."
He wrapped it around my shoulders, kissing my forehead, leaving before me to avoid raising any suspicions. Too sore and tired to return to the party, I dropped a text on the group chat that I was heading home and would probably be asleep. Not that I would be getting any sleep tonight.

The next morning I checked in for my shift, noticing two nurses giggling among themselves.
"New hospital gossip? " I questioned laughingly.
They stared at me, shocked that I hadn't heard the hot take yet.
"Haven't you heard? Dr Ramsey fucked someone in his office at the party yesterday. One of the staff members on the floor saw him but they couldn't see his partner."
" Damn the glass! He walked out of the party with lipstick marks on his neck...and apparently there was a lot of screaming." The other nurse chipped on helpfully.
"Really, You don't say. "

You have some flirtatious pairing. Does it ever go too far and your MC gets jealous? What about their love interests? How do they handle that if they do?
Ooh! This is a good question. I think in my HC, the answer changes as the relationship progresses.
For Aspen, initially (book 1, post Miami time) when some one flirted with Ethan or tried to get too handsy, she would get a little frustrated and jealous, mainly because she knew that Ethan had no feelings for that person and with how they felt about each other, they still had to stay away. It just seemed unfair.
I don't think Ethan would actively flirt with someone, he's at a stage where if he gives a damn, he puts in the effort. If not.. you get the idea.
As they get more secure in their relationship, I doubt either one gets really jealous. I mean everyone gets the hint that Ramsey's taken now that he walks around with heart eyes for her😂
For Ethan, the worst was probably in Amazon, being so far away and then coming back to the reset.
