Can't you just leave the family if it's not a good time? I know I would, and it's not like they could stop you right?
I'm sure I could set up a deal with the Don the same way the guy I replaced did, sure, but I don't have half his contribution to the family. He was one of the oldest members, been here for like four Dons I think. It's about fuckin time the guy retired. There's no part time or seasonal hiring for the family, you don't just retire at 90. You live and die by the Don. If I just up and left the only way I'd come back is in a body bag, or cuffs if I'm lucky.
Everybody already knows my loyalties lie with MY family, regardless of how well Devira runs the city. I'm not trying to be a flight risk the guy has to keep an eye on.

All kinds, but I specialize in meat dishes and Russian cuisine. When I was hiding from the police with my moirial at the time we moved further North and I started working in a fine dining restaurant. The head chef was Russian, so I had no choice but to learn.

Carlah do you miss being in a gang versus being in a crime family because it sounds like a lot less fun
The Blades definitely have a lot less beaurocracy than the family. I wanted to join them first, yknow. Back when I was a kid Uncle Dallas thought me how to shoot with his gun and I was set on being a Blade when I got older.
Course, I just had a be a piece of shit kid and ruin the plan when I joined a fuckin cult.
But the family treats me good. The Don's done a lot for my family in particular- mostly cause he's bangin Viqtor. But you've got a point, Meat, I wouldn't really jump to calling it fun. Fulfilling, definitely. Probably could be fun with less record keeping. Too late to change my mind, anyways.
