summary: y/n has grown affectionate towards Bucky when she’d visit him in Bucharest, but civil war happens and some are forced into hiding. y/n goes to meet up with Cap and the rest after months go by, knowing he will be there.

You meet Sam in a roadside strip club he texted you the address of earlier. He stands in front of the stage, one hand clutching a bunch of bills, another nursing a drink, eyes tracing a pretty dancer spinning on the pole. Inside lights are contrastively dim compared to the neon signs outside. The club is relatively empty for a Saturday night, but this comes as no surprise. Ruby is far from the fancy strip clubs you’re used to with its dirty walls and suffocating smell. Sam doesn’t talk when you approach him; instead, he hugs you. You give in, even if it feels strange to wrap your arms around him after so long. He gives you a smile after he pulls away, and you notice the deep bags underneath his eyes. He looks smaller, too. Finishing his drink, Sam throws the few bills he’s been clutching onto the stage and grabs your hand. You take a deep breath once you’re outside and away from the gut-wrenching scent of sweat. Sam eyes you up and down with a raised eyebrow and you want to lie that you’re wearing the tiny sundress with combat boots because it’s still technically summer, but deciding it’s not worth it, you look up at the red sunset that bleeds into the sky. He takes off his jacket, giving it to you, before fishing the car keys out of his pocket. It’s early September, and the temperature dips harshly in the evening; thus, you put the hoodie on without questions. Your bag, sitting underneath the car, makes Sam chuckle as he leans down to grab it, throwing it in the trunk.
