Two concepts of a drunken Rei Sakuma are fighting in my head. The first is the whiny, moody, infantile and clingy Rei-chan. The second is Rei, who fell silent and stared into space with a vacant stare and suddenly uttered something like "this world is doomed to destruction and all of us, despite our virtue, will burn in the fire of the apocalypse".

Yesterday, I suddenly thought that Rei, who is part of the Eccentrics, is actually much less eccentric than all his other friends. And it's, well, very noticeable, and the more you get to know him, the more normal and ordinary he seems.

And I realized that the main difference between Rei and the rest of his genius brethren is that, unlike other Eccentrics, he does not have "the business of his life."

When a genius is passionate about something, he devotes all his time, all his soul, body, money and opportunities to it, achieving more and more successes, which is why it seems strange, incomprehensible, frightening and "eccentric".

But Rei... doesn't.

The only proof of his eccentricity was the role of a vampire, which he never treated sincerely. He didn't want to be a vampire and never believed that he was a vampire. And in general, he suffered before our eyes from the fact that there is nothing interesting and exciting in his life.

And after that, he completely gave himself up to the charms of an ordinary, pleasant and unremarkable human life, which he wanted.

He's so not proud of his talents that he would not mind lowering his IQ level. He does not seek to create something amazing, something that has never existed before. He strives to live the way everyone around him lives.

I would say that this amazing, talented, brilliant man, who can and knows how to do absolutely everything, is unusual in his mundaness. Or even, in his pursuit of the mundane.
