Hey! Thank you and sorry that I have been absent for so long. I hope you ahve been doing well!

Hey, so I recently started getting back into tumblr. Grimdarknessdarkgrimness or whatever my username was. I really appreciated you when I was on tumblr originally, and even though GW hasn't changed an iota and I fell out of love with the setting long ago, I remembered you from back when I was into it. I hope you're doing okay. You were always a good person among the people who loved a setting that never loved them back.

I fell out of here a lot too. For me it was twofold: I have managed to cut myself away from GW completely (hooray!) and adjusting to the realities of work at University now that I have my phd proved challenging.

But, I feel I've managed to improve my work/life balance so am making a limited foray to try to post here again, though I will change from GW-topics to other things that I actually enjoy now.

I hope you are doing better too.

I just wanna say thanks to Rogueside for making this game. I definitely don’t intend to get back into GW properties, I feel I made the right decision to abandon them, but I had this game on my wishlist since before then and so I got it when it came out now.

It was fun. Short. But fun. Haven’t had anything that felt like a Xenos power fantasy in the lore since, I don’t know, Fire Warrior itself way back when?

Anyway. I enjoyed it. Particularly Garzag killing White Scars left-right-and-centre and taking out a Chaplain.

Of note the trophy room of this Waaagh!!! has a full suit of Custodes Armour so good on Waaagh!!! Gutrekka now Garzag. 

Imperiums genocidal goals.

Im happy to have found someone who speaks out what I feel.

I love Craftworld Eldar, but left 40k behind because I soon saw that all my favorite faction is, is an obstacle for Space Marines to "heroically" overcome and lore like 100 SM defeating craftworlds who have tens of millions of guardians and many thousands of Aspect warriors, not to mention environmental control and knowledge of the terrain is the most absurd thing I have seen in my entire life. 

Still I sometimes clash with 40k fans who defend the lore and especially the Imperium. Saying that it is not evil but rather the "Only political and social system that can survive in such extreme conditions". I dont know much imperium lore but such claims are hard to believe since for example the Tau survive without being nearly as cruel to their own population by compensating for brutality with higher efficiency. If the Empire was less incompetent it could ease on the exploitation and brutality at least to its own people. But my question is about the genocidal plans of the Imperium. Imperium fans regularly tell me that the Imperium does not want to exterminate all sentient Xenos, but rather only thous who attack it or endanger it. Peaceful Xenos can live together with humans as parts of the Imperium they say. 

I would really like to have a counterargument that proves that the lore states that the Imperiums final goal is to exterminate all sentient non human life and wanted to ask you for help.

I don't think I'm the best to engage with this just because, though I love Xenos, I've given up caring about the setting.

So, for your question: firstly, my advice would be anyone who says something akin to 'the Imperium isn't evil,' already just don't waste your time on them. Anyone who doesn't think the Imperium is evil is just not worth your time trying to argue against.

As for the genocide thing: it is stated multiple times by multiple individuals that the Imperium believes all the galaxy is their rightful domain and as seen in something as simple as the first contact with the T'au their standard policy for finding a world with Xenos is exterminating all Xenos on it. During the Heresy Horus' own lieutenants protest when he says he wants to negotiate with the Interex due to the presence of the Kinebrach because they specifically point out the Emperor has decreed all Xenos have to die.

But again, honestly, if an Imperium fan is arguing 'the Imperium isn't evil' and 'the Imperium doesn't want to genocide all other species' you should just not waste your time on them. 99% of the time they won't argue in good faith or genuinely believe or care what they are saying, they just reflexively feel that they need to insist the Imperium is never wrong.

Just don't waste your time on them.

maybe but, i'll be honest, i just don't have the energy for it at the moment. sorry.

just checking in again. i guess i don’t know what to do with this space. part of me thinks ‘maybe i should come back just a little,’ but then i check and see that xenos continue to just fail at everything and i feel i made the right choice to leave. 

Future plans and stuff

since i do like this place still, and have more free time with my studies done, i’ll probably just retool it away from GW stuff and towards other stuff in the near future. that way i can always still be reached if, somehow, miraculously, one day xenos finally don’t suck.

I dont get how imperium players are happy with the lore either, tbh. Every new thing is "oh this is a huge development with the possibility to change everything!" And then they forget about it. Remember when the Blackstone fortress was maybe capable of sealing chaos away? All of the Gathering Storm stuff?

i don't get it either. but, it is what it is, and i've given up on ever seeing xenos not suck.

I'm sorry I took so long to respond. I had to finish my PhD and so largely stopped doing anything else until I got it. I am still here though but I am planning to change things gradually. Put simply I just can't derive any joy from this anymore. I read the latest T'au codex and Aeldari one and it is just depressing at this stage how little there is ever anything to be excited for in the lore unless you are an imperial player. So i'll probably be shifting to focus on other things gradually, away from warhammer. I hope you've been doing okay?

Does a necron dynasty on its last legs wiping out an entire space marine chapter along with the crusade it was attached to (at a high cost, admittedly) count as a Xenos victory? (Source: twice dead king: Reign)

Yeah, Reign was nice. They don't wipe out the whole chapter if I recall, but it was still nice. The last book I ever read from GW and I don't intend to ever read one again.

Every time I read a but of shitty Ork Lore that remids me that GW hates us, I go back and re-read the firat half of the Red WAAAGH!!! suplement. At least until Warzone: Fenris, Grukk got to have some fun.

i just want us to get a campaign supplement where we win for once.

and i shouldn’t have been surprised, i was a fucking idiot to hold out even the tiniest hope it wouldn’t be. 

i said after octarius, based on it, i’d decide what i do next and i just feel so utterly defeated so i’ll think about it but i am so tired of xenos never being allowed to just fucking win.

Of course not. That would imply more than a single second of the imperium not being represented as badasses in their IP, because of course the audience can't relate to anything that isn't a human. I'm SO F* glad as a tyranid fan that I can't afford WH+ and even if I speak english, can't pay for it in my country...
