I’ve wondered what would Roger actually do if confronted by his wife about his relationship with Corey….?
In the valentines story she actually handles the chocolates so if she,d read the note……she would have seen the truth or at least suspected so he’s obviously not above taking risks
He would lie and say that he’s watching out for him and maybe the chocolate thing was a little inappropriate but he just wanted to thank him
2. He would lie and say Corey was deluded and telling lies
3. Admit it but downplay to just being one off and a mistake
4. Confess everything and ask for forgiveness
[i'm sorry this took a few days, i was thinking on it very intensively lol it's actually something i've thought about before, like if their affair was going to end, i truly only see it happening if they either get caught or corey finally moves away to college. i think you're right about all of these reactions, in the right circumstances.]
i think roger's reaction really depends on what theresa confronts him with. no matter how careful they are, there will always be evidence, but some of it will be less damning. roger would definitely gauge what theresa thought was going on and change his response accordingly.
in the valentine's story, i imagined it as roger buying the chocolates (with theresa's guaranteed approval/knowledge), but then secretly writing the note, and putting them away for corey to get later, and just having faith that theresa wouldn't look at them, because why would she? if she did see the note, it'd be pretty damning, it goes beyond a misplaced thanks imo, but i do think he'd downplay it as a silly and, in hindsight, inappropriate in-joke that he and corey have. would it go over well? probably not, but it's better than confessing the truth.
if theresa had very solid evidence (like something physical, or someone telling her they've seen something, etc.) then i think roger would throw corey under the bus and blame him, but "admit" there had been a one time thing (maybe even a few times but certainly not serious), and it was a huge mistake, and it'll never happen again. i think they'd probably stay together if this was the case -- no use breaking up the family (and finances) over one mistake, it's better to just save face and deal with it at marriage counselling or whatever.
if she just called him out on there being a weird vibe between him and corey (like weird looks, or their demeanour with each other, etc.), i think he'd definitely try to downplay it -- maybe claiming that corey had made a pass at him but he obviously rejected him. i think he'd try and do some damage control though, and explain that corey was just confused and lonely, and he was honestly really embarrassed after roger rejected him, so they shouldn't hold it against him because he's a good kid really. i'm not sure that's fly with theresa, maybe she'd still fire corey, but it works to hide the real truth from her.
[in a scenario i've thought about wayyy to much] i think the only way roger is confessing to everything is if theresa literally catches them in the act. maybe roger still tries to insist it was the first time, but theresa knows it's not -- because they're too comfortable, too confident -- and corey gets thrown under the bus again, a homewrecking scapegoat who is never to be seen again. roger apologises, begs for forgiveness, spends the rest of his life with this mistake hanging over his marriage.
as time goes on, roger definitely gets more sloppy at hiding (i.e. the chocolates are definitely a risk, if they did go to chicago that is a big secret to hide, etc.), but the one thing he's certain about is corey not telling anyone. corey gets too much out the arrangement, or so roger thinks, there's no way he'd throw it all away to spite roger by telling his wife. if he did, roger would go with the option of saying corey is delusional, and it must be a crush that has spiralled into obsession.
if roger thought that theresa suspected something but didn't say anything, i don't know if he'd completely stop the affair, but he'd start limiting what he and corey did. back to the early days where corey really does predominantly do yard work and maybe sneaks in a fumbling 20 minutes on the couch when theresa isn't home. maybe it eventually slows down and stops naturally and they go about their lives like nothing happened.
and then of course there is the sexuality aspect -- is theresa more or less upset that roger was cheating with another man? roger is bisexual, but how often has he talked about that in a meaningful way? his excuse for it being corey is simply that he was the most convenient option (it's way easier to cheat with someone who comes to you than to have to go out of your way for it), the fact that corey is a man doesn't really factor in to the cause of the cheating. in fact, it only really matters to corey because it lets him "figure out" his daddy issues.

Did you you decide to do that story where Roger….husband, father and Adulterer teaches Corey how to swim
ahh i can't lie i have been thinking about this story, thank you for asking and giving me an excuse to talk about it more !! also, i love that description of roger lol
this story only really exists in my head at the minute, but hopefully i'll put it together in a better way than i'm about to, so that it can exist as a bonus chapter for the main story. basically, besides it being about learning how to swim, it's also about corey and roger hugely blurring the line between flirtation and fatherly support.
to set the scene: they do make it to the pool -- one of those big blue hotel pools with glass windows looking out at the city and a sauna off to the side -- after their post-breakfast activities. corey stays firmly at the edge in the shallow end, watching roger swim laps.
corey tries to insist he's okay where he is, but roger keeps playfully trying to lure him further into the pool and swim laps with him ("work up that appetite of yours") and corey kind of has no choice but to admit he doesn't know how to swim.
honestly, swimming really hasn't come up that often in corey's life, so he is just a little embarrassed at having to admit this for basically the first time to someone (even though plenty of people can't swim).
this admission takes roger by surprise to be honest, he really just assumed it was a given that corey -- an adult -- would be able to swim. but he reigns his reaction in, tries not to let corey see his surprise, because he knows it would only embarrass him further. "hey, that's okay. how about i teach you, hm?"
roger taught jeremy to swim when he was 4 or 5, not that long ago really, and the similarity in the situation is absolutely not lost on him.
they start with the total basics, letting corey get used to just floating in the pool, first on his back and then with his face in the water. before they get to more effective swim strokes, roger stands a few feet away and lets corey doggy paddle his way over to him. corey, pink-cheeked with embarrassment or exertion, complains "i can see you moving", because roger isn't being half as sneaky as he thinks he is about taking a few steps back as corey gets closer.
when they move onto "real" swimming, corey almost shivers when roger puts his hand on his stomach to keep corey up so he can kick his legs. neither of them mention it when roger's thumb just barely slipping beneath corey's waist band. neither of them say anything when roger's fingers glide down the back of corey's thigh when he tells him to keep his legs straight.
maybe roger shouldn't feel as proud as he does when corey swims his first clumsy length of the pool, but he does. he taught corey that, he literally and figuratively held corey's hand, he gave corey this milestone.
corey keeps close to the edge the whole way, but they do end up in the deep end and roger absolutely shouldn't like it so much when corey clings to him instead of the pool-edge when he realises he can't reach the bottom to stand up.
their kiss tastes like chlorine.

I think Charles Lee ray is a Taurus and Vincent Sinclair is a Virgo . That’s all I know
And was that a no to soulmate au
i always thought chucky would be an aries, but i think he has a canon birthday that doesn't line up with that. taurus makes sense -- he's hard-headed and determined if nothing else.
vincent is definitely a virgo, which i thought even before i found out that he canonically is. he's a perfectionist to a fault.
if you're looking for someone to write you a soulmate au fic then it is a no, i'm just not the right person to ask. if you want to talk about a soulmate au and bounce some ideas then that is more than okay.

Charles Lee ray and Vincent Sinclair ?
[just a reminder for any new readers, or if anyone has missed it in my bio or pinned post: i am not currently taking requests, but i am open to discussing cool ideas]
i think charles and vincent would get along kinda well as "friends", that word being used very loosely here. they're both artists, they're both sharp and cunning, they're both obsessive. vincent is maybe a bit pretensious for chucky's tastes, but their similarities would balance chucky's annoyance into something more like playful ribbing.
if they were both dating the same person, i think it'd probably end badly for someone in that triangle lol. like i said, chucky and vince are both obsessive, which makes them possessive, which ultimately means i don't think they like sharing very much. however, it's be a wild ride, a tug of war with the reader even, until one of them has had enough and wants reader all to themselves.

Would you ever write for reader being with two characters who are not dating each other?
it really depends on the characters, i'd have nothing against it if i found characters with the right dynamics and who interested me enough to make that pairing work.

May I add you to my slasher writers list?
Do you write for Brahms,Vincent Sinclair, hannable(show and movie) or Charles Lee ray?
of course, that's very kind of you to offer 😊
i have written for vincent sinclair (predominantly gen, with some reader-inserts) and charles lee ray (predominantly reader-inserts) in the past.
my master lists for those characters can be found here (vincent) and here (chucky). the rest of my masterlists for other characters can be accessed via my pinned post.

Is 18+ your age or rating ?
thank you for taking the time to ask, the answer is both.
i am over 18, and i would rate most (but not all) of my work as 18+ too, though i include individual warning lists on each story so it is clear what the content and suitability is on a fic-by-fic basis.

the best thing about writing about corey and roger is that it's literally impossible to write that pairing out of character because i invented it. i can literally just decide that what i'm writing fits them 😎

[@alxlxlx ahh replying with a reblog because my thoughts got away with me lol and you never have to worry about writing too much to me, i eat it up]
thank you so, so, so much for your replies !! it's very interesting hearing other peoples thoughts so i don't get too much of an ego while i'm in my corey echo chamber hehe ahhh i'm so happy you liked dead men and holy water, those are some of my favourites from my own writing too !! (though i'd be lying if i said i don't have a special soft spot for all of my fics lol)
sometime i wonder if i've mischaracterised corey as emotionally unstable as i make him out to be, but i do maintain there is canonical evidence for these mood swings. although many instances of his unstable moods are preluded by intensely stressful or traumatic events, i do think it's interesting how he does tend to have either disproportional reactions or sudden switches in feeling. you're so right, he really is a timebomb -- especially post-accident when he went into shutdown, all his emotions resurface in violent or amplified ways.
if these reactions and character traits are maintained (and likely heightened) by corey's post-ends life, then i think the road trip events fits with what he know about how he might act. corey is a new man now, he's in charge of his own life -- when he feels like he's losing that control, it feels like the end of the world all over again.
holy water
in the flashback, corey's at the low end of his emotional metronome (a brilliant phrase, you nailed it), he'll bounce back soon enough, hitting a manic high later, but for a while the world really is ending because he doesn't feel in control. because he feels small and alone.
even though joan was awful and abusive, she was all corey had for a long, long time -- and things weren't always bad. sometimes she was nice and kind, and held him while he cried or she'd stroke his hair while they watched tv. it's the little things he misses.
ahh i'm glad you liked the difference in tone, it's definitely what i was trying to go for !! control will always be the driving force for him, coupled with revenge, but sometimes i think corey just wants to feel okay. as overwhelming as his feelings are at times (most of the time), it's the quiet moments i find super, super interesting; when his confidence drops and he's suddenly shy again, just by being near michael.
dead men
when corey goes from ranting about his dad to pleading with michael, it really is just adapting his pre-existing coping mechanisms in a less restrained and more intense situation.
corey really did believe his dad was dead this whole time (why would joan lie to him about that?), he really is dealing with a huge shock and with a lot of grief that he thought he had processed has come back to the surface. he understandably has a bit of a breakdown, seeks validation and comfort (from michael of all people, in a relationship that, like you said, could never ever be healthy), and then wants to compensate for the hurt he feels with violence.
he's definitely contemplating killing his father at the end, i don't know if he does it or not, but i think even the thought of it does something for him. exactly like you said, it's about bringing back a sense of control after having a break down. it'll probably only create more problems, but it's something tangible that corey can do.
basically what i am trying to say is i am pumped that you like those fics and i am revelling in the vindication of you agreeing about the emotional pinball that corey plays at all times lol. you caught so many details and got so many of the points i was aiming for in these stories, which feels so good the hear !! 💗💘 thank you so, so, so much for reading !!
also !! ahhh i'm am so fucking honoured you are even considering making art inspired by one of my stories 🥰 i can only imagine how beautiful that holy water scene would become with your art !!
just wanted to say that i very recently finished watching all the halloween movies and all your corey fics have been feeding me so well 🥹 i absolutely love how you write corey and michael’s dynamic, thank you for all the content 🙏🧎‍♂️
ahhh thank you so, so, so much 😊🥰 this means so much to me, i am always incredibly happy to hear that people have enjoyed my stories !!
corey is so special to me and i've spent a lot of time, too much time really, a worrying amount of time perhaps, thinking about him and his dynamic with michael. corey is so many thing; he's lonely and violent, romantic and desperate, he can wear different costumes and try on different masks to see which one fits, but under it all is a guy who was doomed from the start.
which is all to say i find him truly fascinating and i've been carrying him around like a paper doll for over a year now -- the fact that people like the writing that came from my obsession is the biggest compliment 💗
thank you so much again for your kind words !! 🥰 is it too self indulgent of me to ask which of my fics you liked best? 👀 either way, i'm always down to talk and hear other people's ideas and thoughts !! not just about my work of course, but about corey and michael and the world of halloween 🎃

Oh I,d definitely read a will and Corey crossover. Cory would probably be rather taken with him
oh by the way. I accidentally unfollowed you earlier. I must have clicked the wrong button sorry about that
i've been thinking on this !! corey is definitely taken with will, while will mosly just feels sympathetic for corey, but doesn't mind his company. maybe he'd see him in a similar way he saw abigail, as a surrogate child to project onto.
i guess it would all depend on where/how they met. i am happy to disregard actual timelines because the first season of hannibal is set in like 2013(?) in virginia, at which point corey would have been 15-ish and presumably eating lunch in his midwestern high school cafeteria.
i went with post-ends corey and pre-hannibal will as my main scenario:
will is still teaching at the fbi academy while corey, who survives ends, is sent to prison. while will has "retired" from field work, corey makes an interesting case study for his classes on profiling and tbh, corey is a fairly low-risk inmate -- unlikely to cause will more stress than necessary in his profiling.
corey is pretty standard in his psychological profile: abuse in his past, traumatic incident in early adulthood, intense stress and a head injury just prior to his spree. the only thing interesting about his corey's journey from being acquitted on a manslaughter charge to being a convicted serial killer copycat -- which was directly influenced by another serial killer.
i think will would find it interesting to figure out if corey believes he was made into a monster or if he was born that way, and i do think corey has an opinion on that. will's profiling of corey is that he has the most classic of serial killer predilections, while also being in a frame of mind that made him actively and consciously copy another killers "work".
idk how much corey would have told his lawyer, for him to use in court, or how much he'd willingly tell will about his life. it's one thing for him to kill joan, another to openly admit what she did to him. however, i think once in prison, corey is amicable enough -- he knows he's stuck there and at least now he can handle himself.
on the other hand, thinking about post-accident corey and pre-hannibal will leads to a lot of the abigail parallels. corey who is struggling with the trauma and stress of what he's done? prime situation for will to over empathise.
and then there is post-ends and post-hannibal will who could never be friends, but understand each other deeply. both have been forever changed (or were they fucked up all along?) and driven to the point of no return by people they might love.

Clarice Starling is great but I think the Hannibal series sort of allowed Will Graham to boot her off her throne as the most most interesting character
the movie and the series are so entirely separate to me that i honestly don't even think to compare them usually lol.
clarice will always be my number one, to be honest. i love the way jodie foster portrays her and how her character is our eyes into this man's world of the fbi and serial killer hunting. she's a much more grounded character though, admittedly, which makes her very interesting to me but i utilise her less.
i've still not finished the series somehow lol but i will admit that will graham is very, very interesting -- and i do love a toxic relationship. i get a lot of inspiration for corey and his relationship with michael from what some of the hannibal fans that i follow on here post. the aspects of danger, obsession and psychologically making each other worse give me a lot to work with.
i think corey and will would get along, actually. they're both people with very specific psyches and neuroses, driven by obsession, who ultimately allow themselves to gain control by losing control -- even if it happens in grotesque ways.
will's navigation of his and hannibal's relationship and the role he fits himself into (or at least, what i've garnered from tumblr) is also great inspiration for corey's beliefs about who he is in regards to michael.

outside of Corey/Michael and the Sinclair family what other horror villains do you like ?
i like a lot of horror media, but i'm also weirdly picky about it in a way i can't even describe. my criteria for what a horror film needs in order for me to like it is: i like it lol
the other characters i've written about pretty extensively are chucky and tiffany from the child's play franchise, otis driftwood and baby firefly from rob zombie's movies and choptop from texas chainsaw massacre two.
i also like the scream franchise, and although you can't really beat the original (billy and stu), i feel like richie and amber might be my favourite ghostface duo.
then for my less conventional favourites: but the shining is one of my favourite films and jack torrance is a great villain; patrick bateman from american psycho is very interesting, i actually have some other novels by bret easton ellis on my reading list so once i get more into the world he writes, i'd love to revisit that movie; and to match clarice starling as one of my favourite horror heroines, i'd say hannibal lecter serves as a worthy, villainous counterpart for her.

🌝 very curious
ahh bestie !! 🥰💗 thank you for asking the most difficult question, because it turns out i really did not have an answer for this one, and i will be revealing the my ineffable "gaining a new interest" -> "actually writing fanfiction" pipeline lol
🌝 Who is one character you haven’t yet written for that you would like to?
the thing about my writing is that there are many, many, many characters that i love but could never write for, either because i just don't have the skill to contribute something i'd be happy to share, or because the source material doesn't lend itself well to the vehicle of fanfiction and the standard transformative avenues that come with it. it definitely comes down to my own personal line of what i consider writable.
it's not that i think the characters i do write about are lesser characters, in many ways they mean way more to me because i can write about them, but they are from media which readily fosters fandom/fanfiction. characters which i can love and project onto while also maintaining and building upon their canonical characteristics are the fanfiction sweet spot for me.
halloween ends has been my main interest for over a year now (which is very scary to think about lol), so it's hard to even imagine writing for other characters even with the fandom decline because i have such a tight grasp on my paper-doll corey that i carry around everywhere. what my brain latches onto is really driven by the will of the universe, and i have very little say in the matter lol.
however !! a few characters i can see myself dabbling with, should the interest strike, are: lisa and the creature from lisa frankenstein (2024); severen from near dark (1987); frank from the hardy boys (2020); ethan, sam, tara, richie and amber from scream/scream vi (2021-2022); and sam from gen v (2023).
then a few more characters who i would love to write about but don't really have the skill set for: the narrator, tyler and marla from fight club (1999); felix and oliver from saltburn (2023); pearl from pearl (2022) or maxine from x (2022); and maybe some the characters from the secret history (1992), particularly henry.
