just a clarification on the rules: no religions allowed as sources also means no fictionalized depictions of religious figures, ie you can't submit a godly parent from percy jackson or like, god from supernatural (i do not know anything about supernatural let alone whether god in supernatural is a bad parent but it's just an example)- i don't want to invalidate or insult anyone's beliefs even through fictionalized versions

This isn’t an issue we ran into in the last poll, but currently, the two most mom-inated contestants are from the same series. So, what should we do about multiples from the same series?

Hey, just for transparency’s sake, if a momination (mom nomination) doesn’t get more than one submission, I won’t consider them if they have no description to go with them unless they’re a character I’m familiar with or one of my friends knows enough about to explain their mimes (mom crimes) to me. I just don’t feel like I can make an accurate judgment of a mom with just one contextless entry, so if you’re entering a more obscure pick, your chances will be a lot better if you give a description of their momtrocities (mom atrocities)!

Thank you! From the looks of it, the spirit of these two tournaments are different enough that I don't feel too bad about any overlap- they're more focused on mothers that are specifically psychologically abusive while this poll's focus is just mothers that suck in any way. Check them out, still!

Apologies if I'm stepping on another blog's toes, but it was always my intention to hold this bracket after the worst dad one was complete, I just didn't make any promises or statements of intent to do so in case I got too burnt out to do so or something.

But, don't worry too much about the deadline, it's not a hard deadline, just whenever I feel it's time to close it.

Now this is a matchup worthy of the semifinals. Two of the most legendarily bad dads in fiction, Victor Hugo's most infamous parent against Mark Hamil's most famous role (other than those other two). But, between a corrupt priest or judge and a king and conqueror, which one makes the worse dad?

Propaganda time because straff is somehow losing, I don’t care what the other guy does this one ticks all the boxes for every crime imagineable.

Obligatory trigger warnings: rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, child death

This man forced his 13 year old child to rape a prostitute because he needed to become “a man”, and then murdered said woman. He does not care in the slightest over if any of his children live or die other than if it’s convenient for him. All of his children above a certain age has presumably been beaten an inch from death for the small chance of accessing magic powers, and since it’s mentioned to be not uncommon for children to die during the ceremony it’s likely that at least some of his has. Only one of his sons describes the experience but mentions that straff stood and watched as it happened and that it was the worst pain he’s ever experienced

The book doesn’t focus on him that much, other than being the worst ever, but he’s really the type of character where he just gets worse the more you think about it
