Weekly Progress Update & Important Notice

Wings of Dawn has now reached 19k!

However, I still need some more time. I’m sorry to those that are waiting for the demo, but I’m pushing pack the release date to May 5, 2024, which is next week.

Don’t worry too much because most of the demo is already written. I just need a bit more time to revise and adjust some choices/stats.

To those that have been following my progress, thank you and please be patient for a little more; we’re almost there!

Thank you! Happy world book day!

I still remember the book character parades I did in elementary school, they were one of my favourite celebrations :)

I hope you and your kids had a lot of fun as well!

Happy world book day to my fav authors!!

My class looks crazy af today because the kids are all dressed up as their favorite book characters. The amount of harry potter characters when none of them even know what harry potter is about is hilarious!!

and i was very tempted to dress as one of my MCs 🤣🤣

But i settled for dressing as Amelia Fang (inserting a picture of my homemade bestie Squashy!!) because yes i still read some children's novels. They are fun. Don't yall judge me. Shut up.

You guys are wonderful people and you bring loads of joy to other's with your writing!

Read a book today people!!!! And not your own!!

Weekly Progress Update

Total word count is now 15k! Nothing much to report this week except that I had my wisdom teeth removed, and it hurts like hell, hence the slower progress. I’ll pick up speed next week, so no worries!

Sorry that the post was a bit late, I was feeling pretty sick yesterday :(

Wings of Dawn is now 14k words, so we’re on track!

I’m thinking I might push back the release date a week later to edit some stuff and attributes, but that’ll depend on how much progress I make next week.

Weekly Progress Update

Wings of Dawn has now reached 12k words excluding commands!

While 12k may not seem as much compared to other authors with over 100k or so, it’s a special benchmark for me since it’s the longest piece I have ever written. I kid you not, even my grad thesis wasn’t this long.

The demo is planned to be around 20k, so pretty good progress as of now!

Some lore about wings:

So I promised yesterday to drop some lore/details about the wings in this story, and here it is.

In Askgard, almost every human is born with wings, either black or white. These wings are constructed by feathers like a bird’s. The wings can be broken down into types that are also identical to birds: passive soaring wings, active soaring wings, elliptical wings, high-speed wings, and some others.

Here’s a reference:

The social structure in this world is largely dependent on this feature; people with black wings usually are higher up in the social hierarchy, while white wings are frequently looked down upon.

This social structure was shaped by a war between the two races hundreds of years ago, which I’ll elaborate on some other time.

Then there are the astronomically rare wingless people like you, the MC. You’re the very bottom rung of the social ladder. The church says you’re cursed; that you’ve been denied the blessing of wings because you’ve done something sinful in your past life. But did you?

Not really much to update this week. Like I’ve mentioned last time, I’ve been really busy :(

I’m going back to my normal schedule from next week though, so no worries!

Another thing: In compensation for the empty update today, I’m thinking about revealing some lore and/or stuff about ROs tomorrow. Maybe something about the wings?

Oh, come on! I love playing winged characters so much, and you say MC is the only one who doesn't have them in this story!?

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

I actually put a lot of thought into this before planning the story; why have a wingless MC in a customizable game set in a fantasy world with wings?

But I’ll let you know that there is a good reason for this. Though I can’t reveal too much, I hope that I can make the story enticing enough to convince you to play!

Also, despite you being wingless, note that all the RO’s have wings—they might just make it up to you ;)

Wings of Dawn (WIP)

In a world where wings are everything, you are the only one born without them. You grow up in a modest village under the wing of your father until one day you are forced to flee from a mysterious attack on your village.

Travel through the three unique nations of Askgard to find out the secret of your own birth. Along your journey, you may meet, befriend, and even romance shady merchants, runaway nobles, knights with a hidden past—and fight your way through the looming shadows threatening to engulf Askgard beside them.

Be careful, for there are threads of conspiracy spun just outside of your sight; things may not be as they seem. In the end, you may be the only one who has the power to save Askgard from ruin.

Currently writing the demo. The demo is intended to release with an intro + the first 2 chapters. Planned ROs are 2 male, 2 female, 1 nonbinary.

I will provide weekly updates on the word count, which is sitting around 6k as of now excluding commands.

This is my first time writing an interactive novel AND my first time using Tumblr, so apologies if there are any mistakes on my part.

I’ll make another (official?) intro post once I’m done with the demo.
